Eric Archer, aka Rare Waves, will launch this Spring a new semi-modular analog monosynth, the Grendel RA-9 Grenadier.

The Grendel RA-9 Grenadier is designed for synth musicians who need bass, percussion, drones and melodic sounds.

The synth features for this task a single oscillator, a triple band-pass filter with modulation sync, a VCO with square and triangle waveforms, which pitch can be modulated by an envelope generator (up to 60 seconds of decay), one LFO which range is 0.005  to 60 Hz, a sequencer and a 14-point patch section (CV, gate and clock inputs and outputs, LFO rate CV and 1/4” external audio input). An 1/8” Eurorack-type connector is also available, but Eric Archer says that the synth is not totally Eurorack compatible.

The desktop-format synth can operate in standalone mode but by patching an optional 1V/octave MIDI CV converter, you can play the sequences from a workstation or a MIDI sequencer.

The Grendel RA-9 Grenadier will start shipping this Spring, the price has not been announced yet. You’ll find all the details at rarewaves.net.
