You should be using a preamp anyway, to get a good heated signal... a preamp will rid you of that cold digital feel you get when recording without one and you've got your phantom power. The mic is cheap, so just drop a little more for the preamp and wha-la. Buy this mic. It's a steal for the price
The Sennheiser E 965 is a very clear, present microphone that will without a doubt cut through a mix. If you have the money to shell out, and need a great vocal microphone, this is certainly an option, but the top microphones in this application are very well documented in their strengths, so you should go check them out!
The Sennheiser E 865 is a fantastic microphone at a relatively incredibly low price. The closest microphones in price and class would be the Audio Technica Artist Elite dynamics, but while they are wonderful microphones, they simply function in a different class as the E 865. The best thing to do would be to figure out what you need on your voic...
Having used the Sennheiser MKH 416 in the recording studio for recording the voice and room sounds for the most part, it's definitely a microphone that I'd recommend. It's got a very high sensitivity, so while it's best for use to pick up sound for films or room sounds in the recording studio, it also works well for speech as I've found that yo...
In my time using the Sennheiser E 614, I've found it to be a very effective mic the studio. In fact, in terms of mid level small diaphragm microphones these are some of the best bang for your buck out there. It is great for pretty much any application that you would normally want to use a small diaphragm mic for including acoustic guitar and d...
Overall, the Sennheiser MKH405 is very impressive mic. While I have been told that this mic is best suited for recording audio during filming, I have had success using it in the recording studio. It is great for a variety of purposes, but probably is suited best for recording acoustic instruments like piano and guitar. I have also enjoyed usi...
I have used this mic a few times, and am pretty familiar with it though I don't own it myself. I love the very crisp, realistic sound. It sounds totally amazing on acoustic guitars and violins! If I had to complain about this mic I would just say that it is maybe a little over priced. Even still, the mic is very nice. I'm not sure about the...
I used these on a couple sessions a while ago, but never ended up using them on the recording because I didn't get suitable results. Overall I really feel that these mics were not very good. I am surprised, because most of Sennheiser's offerings are great, even at lower price points. Your money would be better spent elsewhere for a lower end ...
I used to use these when I did more sound for film and TV. These are great when you want to mic up something that you can't get very close to due to filming constraints and when a lavalier mic won't cut it or is also impossible. This is definitely one of the best shotgun mics out there in my opinion. Sound through this mic is very clear, and ...
I have used this on 2 session fairly recently. Once we used it inside a kick drum and once on the underside of a grand piano in direct contact with the soundboard. Both applications sounded very full and crisp, which I was surprised about. This mic is a little exotic, but it's definitely something worth having in your locker if you wan't to b...
