Sonor Force 3001

Sonor Force 3001Published on 10/27/03 at 15:00
I paid $899 for the Fusion 2 kit with the 22" kick, 8",10",12",14",16" toms and a 14" wooden snare.

WOW! Where to begin...

I did a lot of reading of reviews from both magazines and the internet on what to look for when buying a kit, and what kits were hot. The Sonor kept coming up so I went to Atlanta Pro Percussion and checked one out. The finish is top-notch (I got the Red Maple Laquer finish). The hardware is beefy and I especially like all of the memory locks. The sound is what totally sold me! Damn these drums sound great! I was playing a medium range Yamaha set with my band which I thought sounded pretty good...last week I brought the Sonor's to band practice and what a difference! We taped the session with only a couple room mics and the kit sounded loud, full and just plain sweet! The kick drum moves a ton of air and the toms cut nicely through the mix. You will love this kit!

The only thing I didn't like at first was the Remo single ply clear heads on the toms. The were a bit "ringy" to me. But once I heard them with the band they projected nicely and sustained well...I had always been guilty of trying to tape the heads up but after hearing the toms wide open I definitely am liking that! I will probably switch the g2 heads though shortly.

The quality of this kit is top notch.

I feel like I got a pro-level kit for a steal! This kit sounds great live, and unbelievable when recording. Everything is solid and looks sweet. Go ahead and buy it, you won't be sorry.

I purchased the Sonor Force 3001 Fusion 2 set (10,12,14,20,14S) off of eBay for $599.

This set is incredible for $599. I wouldn't expect anything close to it for less than $1200 or $1300. The set is made of 9 ply Maple/Basswood/Basswood and sounds phenomenal. The finish I bought (Carribbean Blue-Green)is gorgeous and really durable, there's not a scratch on it yet! The bass drum sounds HUGE. I used (and am still using)the factory heads, on all the drums, and the bass didn't even need dampening, it sounded great. The toms have a really full, open tone and sound better when tuned higher. I'm getting some Evans G2's to replace the current heads. The snare is great, it has a very wide...…

I used (and am still using)the factory heads, on all the drums, and the bass didn't even need dampening, it sounded great. The toms have a really full, open tone and sound better when tuned higher. I'm getting some Evans G2's to replace the current heads. The snare is great, it has a very wide tuning range and can be VERY loud when tuned properly. The hardware is remarkably sturdy, and can hold a lot of weight. I have a splash stacked over a ride, the 14" tom, and a cowbell on one stand, and its as solid as a rock.

It would be nice if the factory heads were some Remo Pinstripes, but its not that big of a deal. The 10" tom has a very short sustain, and almost sounds choked at times, but it may be that I have it tuned to high (which is very possible). The snare has a little bit of a problem with the snares rattling when you play all the other drums. Otherwise, everything is great.

Great quality from a great company. Sonor has always made incredible drums at great prices. All lugs and hardware are tight with no rattling. Very nice overall.

This kit is THE BEST KIT FOR THE MONEY, period. This is the best deal out there by far, and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!!!
