Biggest Ever Audio Mixing Contest is ON!
This unit has turned into more of the “experimental” sounding unit for use. It only cost 239 dollars which was a lot less than most of the other compressors that I have ever purchased. Also DBX has a 266XS unit that is very good too and it is even cheaper than this one is as far as the price goes. But like I said with DBX you have to be careful...
This compressor is well made, it can be racked taking up only 1 rack space but most of the time we don’t even rack it. We just have a workspace table that kind of sits behind everything that we just sit it on. Then when we are done we just take it with us, it is very easy to set up that way and it is also efficient.
It has a colored sound and if you are not use to compression you may want to get use to it on a plug in first. DBX has a very distinct and so you have to be very careful as to how much to use. I have tried this on Live Sound and snare is the most common use for it or in a guitar rig it is great. I have seen a lot of them in guitar racks for so...
Overall, it has great compression capabilities
It's good for the money, but because it's made by DBX don't expect it to hold up forever. I have two of these units in my studio, but they'll be replaced with far superior (and far more expensive) dbx compressors soon. Because these aren't very transparent, and during tracking it's easy to miss some of the small details, I would avoid using this...
I've been using the DBX Quantum for about a year and its become one of my favorite compressors to use whenever I have the chance to use it. Its great to have two high quality compressors in one casing that are both versatile and easy to use. The price of the DBX Quantum is pretty expensive, but Avalon makes high end gear for professionals lookin...
Known for transparently compress voices. Very comprehensive and good value.
While the Dbx 100 BoomBox wouldn't be a piece of gear that I'd seek out for my studio (unless I had a lot more gear already than I do now), it's definitely something cool to have in a professional studio setting. It's not going to be a magical box, but it can definitely quickly enhance your bass response if that's what you're after. So while I...
While not my favorite vintage DBX compressor, the 164 is still a very good compressor in it's own right. It has a nice sound that is perfect for getting a quick sound during tracking or mixing. Anyone will be able to use this without any problems since it's so simple, but getting your hands on one of these could prove to be somewhat difficult....
While gates are really all that necessary by modern recording standards, DBX 463X does it's job well if you're looking for one. It can be had at an incredibly cheap price if you're able to get one used, but I'd probably only recommend doing so in a larger studio setting where something like this might be needed every now and again. As far as s...
