Fredenstein introduces a new FET mono hardware compressor that features a Stereo Link option.
The Fredenstein V.A.S. Compressor uses the FET Reverse-Mancini proprietary architecture that, according to the manufacturer, improves linearity and noise performance. The output stage uses the OPA2 discrete amp developed by Fredenstein, which is coupled to a transformer.
The front panel of the V.A.S. Compressor features input gain, attack and release times, compression ratio, side-chain bandwidth knobs, as well as a make-up gain, a dry/wet mix and Bypass, Stereo Link and Side-Chain Filter switches. 12-segment LED meters are available for gain reduction (1 – 16dB) and output level (-30dB – +20dB / 0dB = +4dBu) and Fredenstein adds that in Stereo Link mode, only one bypass switch can be activated to bypass both processors.
The compressor is equipped with a 90V – 240V / 50–60Hz universal power supply.
As for the sound, the V.A.S. Compressor is described as flexible, and can generate a subtle and clean effect or, on the contrary, be very aggressive.
