Image Lines FL Studio 6 is an older version of FL studio and is no longer being sold, I am pretty sure they are up to version 10 now. At the time when I had FL Studio 6 I thought it was a great program and it was. But Image Line has made some great changes to FL Studio. Especially to the play list and menu’s. Most of the other things really havent changed at all. But they do keep adding new stuff to FL Studio as the new versions come out, some of the changes are for the better and some for the worse. When I was using FL 6 I remember having a lot of fun with it, I don’t remember really completing many songs just because I felt limited by the mixer tracks and channels and I didn’t feel like they gave enough plug ins to use in the mixer tracks. Not saying that they don’t have the mixer plug ins available because they do have a lot of good ones but you will have to pay extra for them. They can get pretty expensive as well, up to 3 hundred dollars per new plug in. I think that’s just a sales gimmick from fl studio because they know you need more so they make you pay for it instead of just including it in the xxl version of fl studio.

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Fl Studio 6 worked great with my dell laptop and never crashed or had any problems. It was very stable even when running multiple plug ins, the free asio drivers kept my cpu pretty low..

    OVERALL OPINION

Overall, fl studio will forever be around. If only they could just include some of the better plug ins with the program itself instead of trying to give you a trial version of it and up sell you on a new product every time. FL Studio 6 is affordable but all of the bells and whistles (plug ins) can get a little tedious trying to keep up with buying them. Fl Studio just wants you to buy buy buy, I still use FL studio to this day, but I wont be buying all of there plug ins.

What I like best: EVERYTHING! More srieusement: an intuitive interface, importing and other vst effects no limit (other than your PC), will integrate the possibility of other programs in rewire mode (as it has that I 'use reason), the possibility of CONTRL ALL custom settings either through automation or keyboard matre afternoon edition of the notes and patterns, a variety of samples, etc ...

Excellent price quality ratio: given the quality of software is really cheap.

Not to mention that the program is extremely affordable and does cost a pretty penny. There are latency issues, but comes with Asio so you can save a lot of CPU with that alone. You can create a masterpiece and track it out in .wav files or mix the whole song down to mp3.

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

The programs configuration works great, I have been using Fl Studio since Fl Studio 3. It hasn’t let me down yet. It is ready to go right out of the box, they also offer lifetime free updates which is perfect. Not a lot of software’s do that for their buyers.

    OVERALL OPINION

The thing I like the most is you can compose, record, and mix a whole song in the 1 single affordable program. Which is great, what more could you ask for. But I must say the stock sounds and presets that come with the program are very amateur, but on the good side you can hook any other piece of equipment up to this without a problem. I wouldn’t have it any other way, I would choose FL studio over any other software program for beginners. Once you start to advance, Fl Studio will advance with you, every update they come out with is amazing and makes so many changes for the better.

Stock sounds are terrible but with the rewire function midi out and support of vsts you have best of all worlds!

its software the only thing that i dont like is the audio mixdown of your track.i dont know if its the algorythms of the prgram or simply the program itself it needs to be improved! but who mixes in fl anyway mix that shit in pt!!

This porgram is a practical means for easy beatmaking for producers/beatmakers of any genre...whether you like to make hip hop beats, techno beats, or most anything else...only limits you to how you use it with your own knowledge. I have been told that it can be used with live instruments like guitars (?). Wouldn't know that for sure tho cuz i haven't tried that. It is easy to make a sampled hip hop beat within this program, that is what i really like about it. I don't need any additional programs such as acid or soundforge to make something sampled quickly that sounds decent. I don't need any additional programs such as acid or soundforge to make something sampled quickly that sounds decent. Both the fl slicer and the chop tool give you enough capabality to make classics with samples. The piano roll, where would u go wit out that. This makes it so that both your drums and instruments match seamlessly so that they don't seem to clash or loop outta pattern.

    Price paid

    $149.00

One thing which can be very frustrating about this program is that it doesn't let you preview soundfonts, meaning when you are searching through your library of sound you cannot click on a soundfont file to test it. This means that you must drag a soundfont into the step sequencer in order to hear it. This can be frustrating and though it is not much a problem, can seem time consuming when you are trying to find the right sound for a composed track. The program may seem hard at first for a beginner, many ppl believe that it is a bad program and limited but the truth is they just din't read up on it enough. There are verious tutorials that you can read on to learn about the programs total functionality.

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

The sounds within it are very weak and lacking, synths in particular...however, there is something to be desired within the drums...some of the kicks and snares hold just what you need to have, but the synths (with the exception of some of the plug in synths and soundfonts from such as those found in sytrus) just don't cut it. This however does not matter as the program is very easy to integrate with vsts (virtual studio technology) which can be found for free from the internet or bought. Also, with a midi keyboard it is easy to control your sounds through the program as well as play sounds from a professional keyboard into it. The quality of sound itself is not much to be complained about...a good quality sound card will only help to strengthen your sound quality.

It's software...the only way it can go into disrepair is if you break your computer or it loses all its memory...which in that case your partially screwed. The program gives you lifetime updates, meaning if you go the the website flstudio.com you can upgrade the program for free

    OVERALL OPINION

It costs next to nothing compared most other hardware and software, and yet it still allows you to carry out the same tasks and come out with the same product. The only thing that might be not to luv is the countless times that you have to point and click things as it is software. This is where I consider upgrading to hardware as it would feel funner to do lless pointing and clicking, at least for the purpose of sampling hip hop, or I may consider buying a akai mpd16 which allows you to punch pads that use midi to map out notes on your computer.

Not enough good quality sounds available... Other than that, everything's perfect... You can record a sample using this with this new edition...

This is the best thing to start out with if you're making beats. It's just that the available sounds are not quite clean. So to get great sounds, make sure you get/make lots of samples... But still some sounds available are jus great as it is...

The features in this program are NICE! Everything is fully automatable! Get a good midi controller and you are in business, no matter what genre of music you are making! The only complaint I have is the midi mapping needs to be a little less cumbersome.

In order to get off to a good start (with minimum frustration), read the "Getting Started" tips to get a general idea about the usability. After a few runs and experimenting with it, it will be a blast to work with.

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Let me start off by stating this: Just as with any program for creating loops/beats, what ya put into it is what ya get out of it! You can't expect pro quality results if you're starting out with crappy samples or sound fonts. However, if you are able to start with quality samples or sound fonts, import a few VSTi's, and some originality, you WILL end up with favorable results. I've been using FL off and on since the basic and 2.5 version. It has progressed in leaps and bounds! If anyone is fairly familiar with outboard gear (hardware), you can easily find your way around Fruity Loops Producer Edition utilizing a simular approach. Also bear in mind, that it depends on the quality sound card you have.

N/A - if you've got a PC with speed and power (nothing less than a Pentium IV 2.4 GHz and a 1/2 gig of ram) you are straight! Anything less than that, will be difficult to multitask within a project.

    OVERALL OPINION

Overall, I give this program a 9 because of its capabilities. Once you have your tracks the way you want them to sound, just export to a wave file, master it in your favorite editor (i.e. Sound Forge) and you're in business!. As stated previously, I've been familiar with this program since the basic and 2.5 version. I have made some bangin' tracks that many (and I do mean MANY) people appreciated. Yes indeed, if you have any creativity, you can produce some FIRE with this program!
