SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

PC Win 7 64 bit.
Sat 11 works well, except for editing MIDI tracks: think back before listening to a track as amended, and avoid accumulating changes during that turns a loop.
Sat, 11 was the last version developed for Win XP, also works well under Win 7 64 bit.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had it for a year before moving to Sam ProX, and that's where the shoe pinches. On the one hand it was a major upgrade (in French, phew), and secondly it was immediately replaced by ProX: new expense.
For brevity's sake, I would not buy it today.

The Magix Samplitude 11 is a very basic and simple program to set up and operate. Its basically a watered down version of some of the more powerful softwares on the market. Though it claims that it can do everything that most softwares can but there is just no way you could do everything with it that you can do in pro tools cubase and or fl studio. I have experienced this first hand with my nephew. He was using this for a while because he really couldn’t afford pro tools . Samplitude is very affordable and that’s probably why most people purchase it because the price of pro tools is pretty high these days. You can do some basic recording in it though and get some good demo’s. But I wouldn’t try to go into too much depth with mastering or even mixing your songs because it just doesn’t have the tools and capabilities that you would need to record a master song on it.

One thing that I can say about this software is that it is very very stable. Its almost like it was made to come on your computer with the way that it runs. It wont crash or get buggy on your. Its just not a powerful enough software for me.


OVERALL OPINION

Overall, if you are new to recording and doing songs from home this software may fit you perfectly and could lay down the foundation to start understand how to record and cut your vocals in from certain parts. Bu if you want to get into using effects and mixer tracks this program wont do you any justice. Its just not powerful enough for that. ( in my opinion but im sure the developers would argue otherwise). Great program but not for me and after using pro tools there is no way in heck you can start using Magix Samplitude and get the same results and satisfaction.

No problem installing or config with Windows XP (and incidentally Vista).

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Sound Card: M-Audio Delta two 66, 4GB of RAM, and an old Pentium D 3GHz.
I rarely exceed 20 tracks each with 2 plugs (Waves in general) and I have never had any problems.

I had some minor trouble with 2 plug:
I regularly lose the settings made on the Altiverb. I do not know if the problem is actually samplitude or Altiverb.
Crash with Drumagog 5. Probably due to a lack of resources of the PC.
As against any problems with other plugs (Waves, Sonalksis, Ozone, T-Racks).

OVERALL OPINION

I use for samplitude audio (or MIDI, or Video) for over 13 years. I started with the 2496 version in 1999, 7, 10 and 11 today.

Weaknesses in version 11:
Absence of side chain on the external plugs.
The poor quality of the algorithm's time-stretching and elastic audio (much better on Protools 8 & 9 and cubase).
Phase problems caused by some filters (eg FFT of the Master).

Strengths:
The simplicity of the editing of objects (for me more instinctive than protools).
The presentation of the mix and the use of sub-mix, aux, insert and Master (weakness in cubase).
Clarity in the organization of files (much better than the "region list" of ProTools).

For me, this is the best behind protools 9 (more complete) but ahead protools 8 (because of the lack of latency compensation for plug-ins) and far ahead of Cubase (way too messy for my taste).
In short, despite its flaws it's still my favorite.

Quick installation. Opening of the software not loading almost instantly as eternal bcp daw.

5 years, I also Reason and I tested Nuendo, Cubase, and I much prefer samplitude frenchies how fast, the edition is a sacred object by saving time ... I do not casiment automation! It's really convenient to resample, I find it very intuitive. and especially it's stable ...
I sent him the tracks and plug! 50 tracks and an 8-bus 30 ene effect some very heavy type waves. AC and running with a Dual 3.33 ghz pros with 4 GB of RAM and multiple hard disks. do work on multiple disk makes it even more perforamant. This is oddly daw may not be very popular because of its hefty price tag.

Installation very easy, easy ... The configuration cons .. I'm working on that SAMPLITUDE for 10 years, it gets harder. We feel that the tool became more sophisticated. Config problem with my MOTU MKIII, it is at least 48 entries so that I only have 24 ... The longer version is in french and the manual for neu-neus of English (me it does not bother me ..)

It crashed a lot at first.
After 2 updates + Use a dedicated PC with only 3 applications AUDIOS and some plugins with official license: MORE PROBLEM.
It's a great tool.

OVERALL OPINION

SAMPLITUDE 10 years. SAM PRO 8 before updater (the 8 was very stable) SAMPLITUDE is the ball (CUBASE?: No thank you and yet I know very well too) What is special that you like best: The integrated effects ( EQUALIZER 6 bands - COMPRESSOR - Convolution Reverb, ELASTIC AUDIO ...).
The mixer: simple but very effective. Too bad it does not exist on Mac.

ahead, Samplitude is the perfect tool, you can almost do anything with, intuitively with impressive quality. I can not believe it's so good and why software is no more "publicized" as his colleagues who would do well to emulate! a Swiss army knife of home-studio and studio! Try it.
