Let’s finish the week in Berlin where you can discover or rediscover Kleissonic, a boutique effect pedal manufacturer.

Behind Kleissonic is Theodoros Klissiaris, an electronic engineer born in Greece and now living in Germany. The brand is currently offering four effects, all hand-made:

  • Crystal is a clean boost for guitar and bass with up to 16dB of volume, but it can also attenuate de signal thanks to its bult-in preamp. The stompbox is non true bypass, and when not in use, a built-in buffer fixes impedance and high frequency signal loss issues. Crystal is 9V DC powered and has a price of 139€.
  • Echolapse simulates an old echo tape machine, with times ranging from 42ms and 900ms and a true-bypass circuit. Note that the vintage style affects the high end, so repeats sound a bit “dark” with a few defects. You can choose between mono and stereo modes (the latter with two separate signals paths and two distinct delay times). The Echolapse is available for 267€.
  • Screaming Skull is somewhere between fuzz and distortion, and it features gain, low-pass filter, volume, oscillator pitch and Clear knobs (controls the voltage changes and can generate background noise), as well as three switches that affect the operation mode. The pedal includes a true bypass switch and has a price of 158€.
  • Last, Tremulant is a sine wave tremolo effect with symmetrical modulation and frequency range between 1Hz and 13Hz. The true-bypass circuit includes LFO frequency, modulation depth, post-modulation distortion amount and output level knobs. It can be purchased for 143€.
