Simulating the best analog pedal effects of recent years (Maestro EP-1, EP-3, RE-101 Space Echo, deluxe memory-man etc ...) ditable with 5 knobs allowing to draw hallucinating sounds (end police karma, you see ..) possibility to connect an expression pedal, for against no editor on pc as is fashionable at the moment.

USE

Super simple, very robust pedal (used on stage she never made me be good), very intuitive edition of sounds, the loop sampler is easy to use but I don ' use it too .The manual is complete and provides a description of mules.Perso pedals I use it with my group to pop (sigur ros, radiohead, interpol, keane, Coldplay etc ... ) and it's nickel.

SOUND QUALITY

Very good sound quality, to have a space echo the resemblance is impressive, I do not use too much digital dlais the sweep echo is really very useful bon.Je between a Telecaster and Vox AC-30, and it sounds ... To sum I prefer old delays to digital delays.

NOTICE GLOBAL

I use it for 2 years, I love its sound quality, ngatif developed the AC adapter is not supplied with the pedal (I personally feeds with pedal power 2) I tried the delays DD-5 Boss DD-20 deluxe memory man and I find that the sound quality is better in line 6 except the deluxe memory man but he has no memory user. It's a pedal that I find rather new chre, I think we need more orientation on the secondhand, over time I would do this choix.Je think when manufacturing cease it will also become chre has possder the cho pro.

So there are two inputs and two outputs, one for an expression pedal (which I have not yet tested, looking for a reasonably priced) .It is the digital jack (not Daniels) no midi.
Four switches: three to save your favorite settings, a fourth for the tap tempo.

UTILIZATION

Very easy to use, turn the knobs test sounds.
That said, we must look for a moment on the documentary to understand the role of Tweez and tweak depending on the type of delay that you use.

SOUND QUALITY

The effects are quite successful, the simulations also.
Can reproduce a good dirty echo by adjusting the treble and bass, "usury" bands; slapbacks as the delays are present very convincing.
There is a bypass mode that cuts the delay if you wish when you disengage the effect.
There are only echo the sweep I use less and loop sampler mode.
on the other hand, no digital display to adjust the tempo on a delay, unlike the boss DD20 home for example.
The tap tempo is super convenient direct access, the boss is less accessible. (Must play tap).
3 memory is just a little bit; but adding an expression pedal you can double down (never tried it but it is explained in the manual).

OVERALL OPINION

This effect has long intrigued me; ok this is a delay and there are multitude.
I have a boy and a memory DD20 boss.
The DD20 and DL4 in my opinion are very different and not one is "better" than the other.
The DD20 is a delay much cleaner and certainly more surgical and cold but very effective, the DL4 to create more atmosphere, in that it is more than just delay and brings warmth to the sound.
It looks sturdy, yet expensive secondhand (though I got mine for cheap even if it went to war) and despite his age he is still a reference when you know the delay you want.

I bought this pedal at MusicansFriend.com, for $249 (plus shipping). I worked all summer mowing lawns to get this pedal. The reason I bought this was I saw Howie Day Live at the House of Blues and he looped his voice useing this and it sounded amazing!!! He had like to of these but all tou need to record is one.

I love this pedal because I can use it with my bass is my rock band, I can use it to loop(14 seconds) and delay my vocals, and I can make it sound like there are like 20 gutairs when its really just me. But what love most about this pedal is that I can play a simple chord progression and i can just solo over it for hours, my soloing has enproved SO much since i bought this both with my bass and my acustic gutair.

The two things I dont like about this pedal is that the battery is pretty short (and with it taking 4C batterys can really burn a hole in your pocket)so I highly sugjest spening the extra 25 dollars on the power sorce. And when your in the loop mode you can't loop the different delays. That is the only two bad things about this no joke.

This petal is made to last, with a rubber bottom it wont slide on the hard wood floors at all, made completly of metal along with the bottons on it. You dont have to worrie about dropping it because i dropped mine twice on concret and it didn't even dent and it still worked perfectly.

If you want to improve your soloing derasticly, this is a must need, I mean if you don't have a rythem gutairst than this is perfect with 14 seconds of looping time and it was cheaper and easier to use than the Boss one and it came with effects. I love it I plan on getting another one for my vocials.

Bought it at my local music shop early 2004. I really bought it for the looping capability, and after some shopping decided it was the best for my money. I ended up paying about $250, and they gave me the power supply.

Like I said, I bought it because I wanted to practice soloing and harmonies and stuff like that. The pedal has exceded my needs in that department, especially the reverse and 1/2 speed overdubbing. The delays sound great, are fully customizable, and really easy to create and save.

The 14-second loop comes up short on some of the slower, longer riffs I use, but those suck anyway so I don't mind. Also, it's tough to get timing down on some of the rhythmic delays. My main problem is with myself- I can't ever play at the same tempo twice, so I'm always off when I load up the saved delay.

Nevermind what anyone else says about cheap knobs, this thing is a tank. I can't see it ever breaking. All metal except for the knobs, which I turn with my fingers anyway. People who break them have got to be using their feet or turning them too far or something...

It's great. The looping capability is underrated and often overlooked. Younger players who want to practice any kind of improvisation should get one. All I ever hear people talk about is how vintage pedals are so much better than these "cheap digital rip-offs." This unit will put nostalgic old people and their pedals in their place.

I bought this pedal at Long and Mcquade in Langley, BC for $320.

I was going between the Boss Gigadelay and the DL4, but chose the DL4 because i find it is easier to use. The tab tempo is easier to use than the Giga, and the channel switching can be done much faster. Also the looping effect is much better on the DL4.

You have to buy the Line 6 adaptor to use the unit, which is another 25 dollars. Also there is only 3 channels instead of four like the Giga, and the loop time is 9 seconds less than the Giga.

The unit is very durable and I haven't had any problems with it. The screws in the bottom are weak, and one of the heads broke off one when i was screwing it in, but all in all I love how it is put together.

Great delay processor. There is no other multi-delay system that i've come across as better. I love it.

I have always been into prog, experimental, fusion rock. Growing up as a kid i was listening to bands like Can, King Crimson and Yes. Now that im all grown up, i have these influences to act upon while trying to be creative and come up with something new and original. And for this i need a brilliant line up of effects. One that can relate to whats in my head and in my heart. And one of the main ones is the delay pedal i use. And for this i chose the Line 6 DL Delay Modeler. Originally purchased at Guitar Center in Brea California for $240.99

The most amazing delay pedal you will ever use. I have played with many delay pedals and this has the best level of performance. The sound is crisp, clean and natural sounding compared to other pedals that just sound dull and fake. The features are great for just about every style you want to play. Anything from looping a guitar part to discrete strero options and much much more.

Its really hard to think about the cons of this prroduct. As long as i have used it i have not had any trouble what so ever.

I bought this at Guitar Center San Francisco. It was on sale for $250.
I bought it to add some delay and loop effects to my onstage setup.

The DL4 has two basic functions. FIrst, it's a delay pedal that emulates the sounds of
classic delay effects -- everything from vintage tape and tube delays to early
low-resolution digital delays to high-quality modern stereo, ping-pong, and reverse
delays. Second, it's a loop sampler that can record up to 28 seconds of your playing
and loop it back at you forwards, backwards, or at double-speed while you play
over it or add more loops. Both of these functions are in very high-quality 24-bit
digital sound. With some judicious tweaking, it's easy to get great delay effects, and
the loop feature produces incredibly cool sounds, especially when you overdub
backwards parts on top of one another. People will be scratching their heads and
saying, 'where's that sound coming from?'



Three of the footswitches can be preset to your preferred settings, which is great. But
there isn't a footswitch that makes the DL4 behave like a regular pedal: if you set the
knobs a particular way, then turn the effect off, if you step on a switch it'll go to a preset
instead of where the knobs are. A 'manual mode' switch would be much less confusing.
Once you've figured this out, it's not too hard to save each new setting onto one of the
switches, but you have to erase a previous setting. A minor complaint, though.

It's very well made: a big strong steel chassis, weird-looking but tough. The digital
sound is crisp and clear.

Modelling technology can get out of control: I still don't believe a digital model of a
vintage amp is as good as the amp itself. But delay effects lend themselves very well
to modelling, and the loop sampler is worth the price of the unit on its own. A great
purchase for any guitarist who wants to experiment with delays and loops.

UTILIZATION

Every once in a while, an effects pedal is released that changes everything, one that guitarists run out to purchase in droves, as it makes playing more fun. This is one of those boxes. It is brain-dead simple to use, with plenty of great sounds and fun features. This is one of the most inspiring effects pedals I've ever had the pleasure of using. I like it so much, I've actually owned 3 of them!

SOUND QUALITY

The delay sounds are quite nice. I know some modding companies are doing some modifications to make the sound quality better, but I've never had a problem with mine. I'll give it a 9 in this area, as it appears there is room for improvement with the mods, but I'm perfectly content with these 15 models and a looper. The Memory Man model sounds a lot like my old 70s EHX DMM, and there are a lot of great digital delays in there as well. The coolest thing to me is the looper - reverse on the fly, as well as half/double speed, just by hitting one stomp switch - that is priceless, and makes for hours of fun composing and improvisation.

OVERALL OPINION

I'm giving this a 10. It is about as good as an effects pedal can be. It is a bit bulky and takes up more room on a pedalboard than the average stompbox, but it makes up for that in its coolness. I love the delay sounds, but I use the looper so much that I hardly even use the delay settings anymore - I've got another box for it. Still, even if this pedal was just a looper with these functions, and was the same price, I'd STILL give this a 10. Awesome buy.

Exceptional, with 24 bits of resolutions over the true bypass, the delay is incredible. up to 2.5 sec. of delay. with modulation effects, we can really get into orbit or simply add a bit of echo on a solo ... 3 programs available .. the tap tempo foot ...

OVERALL OPINION

Report indniablement excellent quality price (330 euros the machine, it makes the pedals 80 euros on average it takes 200 ... for a good classic pedals the unit)

The operating principle is very simple, it turns potentiomtres and the sound changes, classical, practical, easy ... Only the rle of potentiomtres exchange for virtually every type of delay and it is easy (especially for the effects we use the least) of not knowing what function each represents. Ok .. The biggest problem of the pedals RSID in the impossibility of using the tap tempo when no effect is engaged. SOUND QUALITY

Well I'm really boring on the sound quality of my stuff, but this is irrprochable pedals: the delays are all relevant and compltent perfectly to form a homognit PDAL impressive. For my part I use mainly vintage delays or tube tape echo type echo, but all are ultra INTERESTED and totally usable.
Is that a ring-like machines that are supposed mulate? Is-that gives a "big analog sound"? Is it really sounds, as a "vintage"?

I do not know and I do not care: a ring!

I bought and sold a lot of material that does not satisfesait me or that I no longer used, but the srieusement I plan to buy, in addition to the DL4, the Echo Park (which is the m I PDAL Allgemeine version) to put a delay when I use the looper the DL4, or just to have the same sound quality but smaller and more lightweight in some projects ...

Damage to the absence of the afternoon, unforgivable for the operation of tap tempo, but APRS over a year of use on bass, bass and various machines, the sounds I get out of the pedals still impress me .

The sound is top there's no better! I use it with guitar and bass but it works with everything!
My favorite sounds Sweep Echo ben the course, the Slow Echo, the rest I have not tested too. The sampler is very good and there's a lot of opportunity, 14secondes only damage I would have liked 20seconds ... But there is no better elsewhere in this kind of pedal! I use it to covers of Muse, Coldplay ...

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a few months, I will not sell it! + What I like is the number of possibility and editing in real time. What I like least is that there are only 3 presets ... I had another model of simple delay but not comparable! The value is good even if it is very expensive, but that's in Line6 ... I would do this choice, used not new (expensive!). 10/10 for the price paid.

UTILIZATION

Like any delay, we must test, test, to master the subject.

This effect is not easy to use. But the Line 6 pedal itself is really nice for that: we get (not always known how) to very good effect in tampering!

I have an EHX Deluxe Memory Man (whose sound is amazing) that I use the blow very rarely because it is less flexible and less easy to use that line 6.

Excellent effects pedal. I would say my favorite.

This is my second digital pedal (I'm a purist analog sound).
Both the quality BOSS is not to my taste, as this pedal line 6 is on top!

The simulations are great. Maybe not good imitation from the originals, but the sounds coming out are extremely convincing.

I have a genuine EHX Memory Man Deluxe to its incredible heat. Imitation Line 6 has nothing to do! but still the effect is still amazing for the digital and of good quality.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had two months.

I knew that the EHX Deluxe Memory Man. These are two very different products. The EHX to have a true vintage sound deep, space, and line 6 to get wasted like crazy for hours without fatigue and much more versatile (a looper is integrated).

I forsake my EHX venerated but do not sell anytime soon! because the vintage Pink Floyd type, I did that with the EHX! (Such Pink Floyd Time).

The line 6 is pure bomb. Purchased from OCCAZ is a very great deal pays for itself !!!!!
With you sound Radiohead, U2, Beck, etc ...
Its excellent clear that both saturated and top on my Fender tube amp!

I have owned two of these things from one time to another. Could be my favorite delay stomp box style for live gigging. My first one was given to me by my bass player. He though he could use it with his rig and got tired of it. The next was borrowed from a buddy to use at church.

I used this exclusively at my church for over 2 years. I ran it in front of a clean amp with a Boss pedal. The delay sound really jump out in the band mix very well. I love the way this thing sounds in the band mix and being able to stomp on another patch and tap it in on the fly was very beneficial to me for the music that I was playing.

I pretty much stayed on the rhythmic delays since I was all about the Edge/ U2 sound. I also used this thing as a synth patch as well. I ran the tweek, tweez, and mix up real high and channeled up the reverse delay and I basically had a synth sound which was very cool on ambient songs.

UTILIZATION

Very easy to use as you just twist the knobs hold on to the foot clicker and the patch is saved. You could save up to three settings and then the extra clicker was for tapping in the tempo. There is also a looper function which is very cool when trying out multiple guitar sounds at the same time.

Like all Line 6 units the manual they provide is very practical and self explanatory. They provide a good understanding of the unit in common terms of use. But you really don't need it to run the delays but it did help when understanding how the looper setting works. I'm sure they have a download version on their website if you were to loose it like I did.

SOUND QUALITY

The rhythmic delays were definitely my favorite setting. I pretty much stayed on this since I was using this unit more on the fly then having called up presets. It really cut in the band mix and sounded very good complimenting the songs. The other preset I used was the reverse delays with basically everything turned up to get a synth patch.

I used this unit with a Strat, Tele, Boss OD-2, TS9, Marshall JCM2000, and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. It really blended well with the Fender. The fender was more of a darker amp and it gave a great tone with the Boss. I had a great U2 or Coldplay type sound. When I ran it with the Marshall I could instantly get that Welcome to the Jungle type tone.

OVERALL OPINION

I love the way this unit sounded in a band mix. I wish they also added a little screen that could show you how fast your milli seconds were. It would be nice to know the time you're at like Eventide or TC Electronics has done for you.

If I had the chance again I would definitely get this pedal again. I would get the thing modded to better operate the volume loss that is apparent in this unit. I actually like the tone of this unit a little better than the Eventide Timefactor.

I would recommend this unit to just about any guitar player. Great delays and very functionally easy to use in a band setting or sitting in your home jam room.

Line 6's ever popular DL4 is a delay and looper pedal with a ton of versatility. The pedal has 16 different types of delays on here, each on modeled after a classic delay pedal with it's own sort of sound. The looper gives you 14 seconds (28 seconds if the half speed button is engaged) of looping ability, which is truly awesome when you're playing by yourself. The pedal is a digital one that consists of two 1/4" stereo jacks for inputs and outputs and the pedal is powered up by a specific Line 6 power supply that I believe is 12 volts. It's not going to be rack mountable as it's a foot pedal.

UTILIZATION

Using the Line 6 DL4 isn't too difficult to follow, as more or less everything follows a pattern. The pedal has four buttons for controlling the looper and for setting your preset delay sounds, depending on which mode you're in. The far one will also act as a tap tempo button if you're using one of the delays. Once you've chosen from the different delay types, you can further edit your sound using a series of knobs for parameters which will change depending on which delay setting you're on. They are labeled delay time, repeats, tweak, tweez, and mix - tweak and tweez and the ones that change depending on the delay mode you're in. You can get away with not using the manual, but if you want to know what the corresponding parameters are for each of the delay types, it's definitely a good thing to have around.

SOUND QUALITY

As far as tones go, the Line 6 DL4 offers a plethora of different sounds between the 16 types of delays. You can usually get some pretty differing sounds within each of the delay types as well between all of the parameters. Many of the delays on here definitely come off as being digital delays, since they of course are, but it's a trade off considering how many different sounds you're getting. If you're looking for an analog delay sound, you're not going to find the best ones on here, but if you get an analog delay you're not going to get all of the control you get here. The looper is probably my favorite part of the pedal however, as it provides endless fun and is a great songwriting tool.

OVERALL OPINION

The Line 6 DL4 is a very popular pedal for good reason, as it's the best way to get an almost endless variety of delay sounds in one place. Perhaps none of the sounds on here will be as nice a true analog delay, but considering how many different types of sounds you're getting, it's really not a big deal I don't think. If you're after that thick analog delay sound, I'd look elsewhere, but for versatility amongst delay sounds, this is the place. The pedal isn't too expensive considering what you're getting here, as most looping pedals will cost around this price. The Line 6 DL is absolutely the time to check out for every guitarist...
