USE

Exit the manual, plug the knobs and triturated directly to see that the equalization opens up many possibilities.

SOUND QUALITY

Used on many amp studio / stage Marshall, Fender, Crate, H & K ... Last test at home on a Fender Champion 110 (25w training) + a copy of lp59 by Hohner equipped with a big-HB bridge output level.

Starting from a neutral setting to the amp as the MT-2 can guess the drive to zero it will bleed. One turn confirms Drive fast as the potential is there and arrived halfway the knobs we are already in a well fitted distortion.

It quickly became apparent that the interest (and difficulty) of this pedal lies in the exploitation of the equalizer knobs. LOW responds perfectly to what can be expected of him, the HIGH is subject to a fine or very fine adjustment. The MID and MID FREQ are those on which flies the most time.

The combination of these different settings provides a frankly interesting distortion palette which, in my view, covers the needs of who wants a sound that déboîterait HP. I could play the TOOL, or the Sepultura Hardcore without being ashamed of my sound for years.

NOTICE GLOBAL

Purchased in the late 90 years I have used for at least 5 years in a metal style before turning to more 70s sounds.

At the time I did not try other pedal as BOSS MT-2 and were THE reference in pedal at a good price, competition was not the same either.


The only drawback of this pedal already been discussed hundreds of times, the highs are very fast or too present. This is very characteristic of this pedal and Modified exist for those who are not there. Character that I was never too bothered as long as I did not push too far or DRIVE HIGH but must recognize that at some level DRIVE punishment must be taken to refine the equalization under penalty of falling into a rather unfortunate sound mush.

In holding the potential of the pedal it deserves to ask the mod or not.


Purchase today I would do if I was looking for a sound metal.

SOUND QUALITY

I use it on a ac15cc1x vox with gibson sg standard. Once the problem of the past adjustment you have to use the good stuff! This significantly changes the pedal according to the guitar amp and used !!! I have no more rotten config without saying what is huge and little I turn up the volume, the fuzz goes away and leaves the pedal to express all heated by lamps and only the sound is good for the trash heavy metal of death that kills. A lower volume without pauffiner its tuning sound is REALLY garish and not top but otherwise it is pretty well done and his works.

NOTICE GLOBAL

I've had a year that I hate is that I took a year for me to realize that I do not know how to use this pedal so the sound is huge pallette is coming back on it, really working its settings that something of this pedal can be drawn which is far from being bad!

No introduction of yet always present in the universe of effects pedals. Despite its creation date, I do not know much distortion pedal for electric guitar which rivals! Powerful and versatile, it will revive all the followers of heavy distortions (Ideal Death / Black Metal / Trash) and softer, offering a range of sound both rock and grunge. Connection via Jack sockets. Mains or battery 9v.

UTILIZATION

Easy to use, no need to be a sound engineer, adjustments being made to the ear with the different buttons.

SOUND QUALITY

Hard to find fault. It can be coupled noise gate when in use.

OVERALL OPINION

It's been over 15 years that I use, and I confess it hard to part with ...

Very strong, fairly well designed, it is a small analog distortion pedal on which much has already been written. Escape of a golden age that we would now gone, that was where the Heavy Metal music purists in search of authenticity and not a business in which the same principles we try to apply that took Skin rap (I find that there is a world of difference between "Fear of a Black Planet" by Public Enemy - how I loved and commercial soup we refile the young But I digress).

MT2 "Metal Zone", then! The least we can say is that the opinions are divided. So here came time for me to take sides.

No, it is not the monster that violence is described: you can actually get caricatured sounds borderline ridiculous but it is not the goal. Stack a tube Hi-Gain pushed tab will always better in terms of aggression (I did not say gain, I said attack!) Which is quite logical considering that it cost twenty times more expensive!
However MT2 allows the guitarist to good taste (for metal and toc) but unfortunately impoverished access to Hi-Gain cheaply. Therefore, in these times it Painkiller, Altar of Sacrifice, The Lions Den and all other gems of our heritage! God created the Heavy Metal and benevolence he thought all purses!

Guitar in, amp out, a power supply plug Boss, the beast can run on 9 volt battery. No true bypass but it is remarkably transparent. 4 knobs, two of which are dual function that makes us 6 settings!
Level, Hi, Low, Mid, Mid Freq, Dist. The latter corresponds to the setting of Gain. The amount of gain that is capable this pedal is simply ridiculous. I played ultra-violent stuff a good part of my life (no, I'm not talking about Fashion-New-Emo Metal girls with rimel and nails all black and pout today, I talking about stuff men!) and I do not see any that may well need such a level of gain! In any case, my DOD DEATH METAL I had in the 90s certainly did not gain much, and yet I feel like humbuckers mounted on a chainsaw when I tried to play with. .. well, never mind.

A variety of groups have achieved excellent albums with the "Swiss Army knife of distortion" (to borrow a phrase from "guigue106") and those who preceded him at BOSS: before 5150 it was not so obvious to fuck a big sound Hi-Gain reasonable volume!

UTILIZATION

I highly recommend putting all settings to 50% otherwise it could be quite unsettling! The equalizer allows such a variation of the tone that is quickly lost and light years away from her that we had in mind! This makes this pedal rather inaccessible at first, he must grope, and do not forget that the guitar also has settings, so do not hesitate to vary the volume and tone of the latter!

I mainly used with with a Jackson Dinky (Seymour Duncan SH1) An ESP MII (EMG 81) and a Stratocaster (FAT 50), it was fairly respectful of his guitar in all .. . Okay, that is not a Princeton Reverb not eh!


SOUND QUALITY

The four-band EQ provides a wide variety of sounds that is a fact. Big sound consistent enough to ice flood of notes with a finger raised, lowered and another two fingers up! Followers of the True Black Metal is here as it happens! Thrashmen from all sides you are also welcome!

Do not listen to the apostles of "ooh it's always the same sound loud!" : Arch is super fake! There are more than a little work accuracy and fast you'll end up with a sound fucking killer!

The spectrum covered by this pedal is so broad that it seems to me frankly difficult to identify general characteristics. Mutes can be deaf or very aggressive. Attacks pick can be either too invasive, sometimes rather smooth ... OVERALL OPINION

MT2 is a good little pedal rather endearing, well built, cheap and fucks a mitigated by the fault of the poor guy who did not understand that his is above all in the fingers, then the reputation guitar, strings, pickups and finally the amp. It is not really versatile, it goes from big at Hard Rock Death Metal, she knows how to do it, but after all it was created for this purpose and it does it very well. She deserves that we spend time on! But that also applies to my FUZZ FACE for a Tube Screamer for an old KLON or a whole lot of good amps! In music we have something for nothing, that's all!

Blues can be a little aggressive to very hard metal from hard rock / rock / punk rock and everything that goes with it ...
I benefit but the distortion breath is not so HUGE you might think

I have owned the Metal Zone for about 6 years now. I play thru a Boogie 50 Calibur head with Boogie 4x12 Cabinet. I have Pros and Cons with this pedal:

Pros:
Ungodly rightous metal sound. And Justice For All'ish sound. By clipping the mids and turning the high and low up a bit with the distortion set to 100% of course, its a great metal petal with killer bass. Chunk Chunk palm mutes bring a smile to everyones face everytime. Love adding some subtle delay to the tone to round it out a bit and also for lead.



Cons: Cannot be used for gigs or even band practice. The tone is just way too "thin" when cranked up. Now, maybe on a very powerful amp it would sound different. But on my setup you have to crank the amp to like 7 7 on the volumes to be heard and by that point the crispness of the tone is totally gone.

Solid.

I got this box at Axe Music for I think $180 Can. I heard good things about it from magazines and friends.

I like the crazy ripping sound it gives, and the fact that its so versatile. (Capable of a metal sound to a vintage type rock n' roll sound, even blues.) Its got a really piercing, scream-type sound, which i find is perfect for thrash metal, and roll off the gain a bit and tweak the EQ some, and you can get really sweet grunge sounds too. I also love how i've dropped it down stairs like 50 times and the paint hasnt even chipped.

One thing that i don't like too much is that the Mid control is like a Treble control rather than a Mid. I don't like to play with a lot of mid, so I usually keep the control in the middle, anywhere below 5 it sounds like someone put a blanket over your amp. Also I hate that battery life is only like 20 - 30 mins. of playing.

A few words to describe construsction: Bulletproof, indestructable, very solid, all metal (except for knobs), awesome.

If you play metal, get this pedal. If you play anything else, get this pedal. Extemely versatile, kind of like a Les Paul, awesome for any type of music. Sweeeeet screaming distortion.

I had bought the boss MT-2 from Pakistan for Rs.6000 which is round about 60 British pounds from a local vendor and i recommend you buying it for about the same price as well.

To start off, the unit is great. But as the name of the pad is 'Metal Zone', it only plays metal well. The pad is must for people playing Metallica(try master of puppets on this baby and u'll see what i mean) and other hard rock groups. The unit is finished in a cool black design with orange engravings on it which is very cool. The sound qulity is great and about 3 times louder than many processors i have seen.

One thing to keep in mind is that grunge and alternative cannot be played. .The only problem that i experience is excessive unwanted distortion and noise(a lot of static). This seems to be the only problem that i experience although this can be cured by staying at a distance from your amp.

As i have mentioned above , the sound qualiy is far better than any processor or other distortion pedals. The pad is fairly easy to use and excessive battery consumtion can be prevented by pulling the wires off when not in use. You can alter the drive and amount of distrtion as well the level of sound.

I would recommend it as a must for metal heads. The unit is the best available and the price tag is quite reasonable. It is most suited for professional players or experienced players.

Very adaptable to different types of metal.

Hard to get that Nu-Metal sound. The closest to a Korn sound I can get is to do the following:

1. Set the level about half way.
2. on the equalizer, 1st set of knobs, set the bottom knob all the way up and the top knob to half and on the second set the bottom to about 2/3 and the top to 1/2. I set the distortion knob to 2/3.
3. Don't turn your pickup volume up too high. I set it at about 1/4 turn and let my amp take care of the rest. This produces the "crunch" and also masks fingering mistakes!
4. Get a 7-string. You won't get that bottom-end no matter how far you detune a 6-string.

sturdy unit.

Good unit, but I'm more interested in finding an amp that has the right distortion built in for Nu-Metal. From what I understand, if you can't afford a mesa boogie road king (what korn used on new album with marshall 1960a cabs), then the Crate GLX1200H would be close for the sound on a budget.

What I like about the Boss mt-2 metal zone is that it has a very wide range of sounds you can reach. This is what I hate about other revews, they don't name bands you can play. Okay heres the deal, you CAN play pantera,slayer, metallica and Classic rock like AC/DC and Guns and roses. That is a pretty wide range so huray for that. I like the fact that it has a wide range of sound but thats about it.

Okay... number 1...If you are gonna play metal the this is deffenetly for you BUT IF you are into nu metal (like I am) then tough luck. The metal zone just falls short of reaching that Slipknot, Soulfly, System of a down, Hatebreed(sorta nu metal) and Slaves on dope sounds. Also if you live in canada (Best country on earth) thenget ready to pay not $130 but more like $250. This thing will drive you crazy with the humming/buzzing/static. I use a small 15 watt amp so thats probably the problem but once the pedal is stomped it will give you tones of backround noice. Oh ya... about that stupid comment about spending $250 thats because the other $110 will be spent on a noise suppresor. Thier are cheaper ones but lets face it, Boss noise suppresors are the best. Also (I know this has been said over and over in other reveiws) get an adapter. Sucks batterys...blah blah blah.

Bulit like a tank and all that garbage that people in the other reviews say (geez can't they think of something original?) Ya... great construction.

Okay... Good range for metal, bad for nu metal. U can still play that stuff it's just that u'll have to lower ur tuning slightly (which is why i got a distortion pedal in the end anyway, so i wouln't have 2). Now the other big thing is the fight between the digitech metal master and the metal zone, well...IF U WANNA PLAY NU METAL GO WITH THE DIGITECH, IF U WANT METAL THEN GO WITH THE METAL ZONE. IF U WANT BOTH THEN GO WITH THE MEGA DISTORTION PEDAL FROM BOSS.
You CAN make the metal zone work for nu metal but it just takes a lot more tweaking. and don't forget to buy a noise supperssor. Oh lastly. thier is a big fuss about "well the digi tech is made in china" or something like that. Well The metal zone is built in tiwan do big deal. I hope u have enjoyed my senceless babbaling...Good bye. Need any more info e-mail me. I gave it a 4 because it's good for what it says it does,metal. so i can't take marks off becuase I wanted to play a diffrent style. But it Just wans't what I was looking for.

I got it from a friend, I traded my danelectro black licorice for it.


It has a parametric eq, and bass and treble and gain and volume controls, lots of possiblilities. Good amount of gain. This can emulate lots of different peoples sounds. Lots of sustain.

It is very tinny, and the treble is quite weak sounding. You have to play with it alot to get some good sounds worth using alot. It doesn't sound very good when you turn down the distortion, it has too much compression.

It is boss, tough as a tank, built to last.

It is good if you want full on metal distortion, whether you cut your mids or not, it is still good for most metal. Good for stuff like master of puppets, but it can also do iron maiden sounds too.

I bought this off a friend, second hand. I paid 40 Euros for it which converts to 40 US dollars.

It is solidly built, and as good as new. It doesn't take up much space and it is easy to get a pack of new sounds by turning a knob. Apt for everyone I would say.

It will run off batteries before I have time to say 'Jesuuus'.

As mentioned before in the likes section: very solid. This guy had it for two years and I can't even appreciate it.

I don't really understand how anyone would like to get rid of this pedal. It is an excellent distortion pedal for any songs. I really really really like the 'Rock 2' preset. Simply amazing. If you cun buy an ACDC adaptor.

I got this unit through an on-line auction (ibazar, now a part of ebay). I got it because I felt that I needed a distortion pedal. I paid about 500 skr (about $50, I think).

I like the options it gives me. Apart from a distortion level control, it's got a volume control and a three-band-equalizer (including a knob which I think controls the frequency setting for the middle band). You can get a few different sounds from it.

What I dislike about MY unit is its ability to stop working when I've played with it for a while. I'll send it to the repair workshop one of these days...

It's a sturdy little thing. I doubt it would ever take any serious physical damage...

It's a nice distortion pedal. OK, I havn't had much to compare with, but I like it. Too bad mine doesn't work allright...

I have only had it a few months and havent used it much but i have seen some guy's that jump up and down on the and run over them with trucks.

expensive but worth it. If your'e looking at getting a dist pedal try one out and see what you think.

Good distortion with different parameters, an equalizer that makes sense.

UTILIZATION

Simple, no mind work but as always we must spend some time on history to find a good sound and the ultimate configuration. Why there's a bit while turning in all directions.

SOUND QUALITY

Levels of sound quality, it's okay, not too much wind, the quality of the distortion is good. You can have multiple sounds nice and good quality.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall for someone looking for a distortion not too expensive well made it is a good compromise. There is not enough to break three legs of a duck, but still. I use it everyday and I'm pretty happy.
