Biggest Ever Audio Mixing Contest is ON!
I remember trying to configure this interface to work in FL Studio back then and it gave me some problems. But when using it with the Pro Tools SE that it comes with gave me no issues at all. There are some pros and some cons to this device but if you need a good preamp then this is not the interface for you. You will need to spend a little more...
I was able to use this on my laptop and my desktop pc without upgrading or loading any extra software or drivers onto my system. It was truly plug and play. I am not sure if it will be the same for everyone, but I really recommend using this if you are just getting into recording music. Look on eBay and purchase the package deal with pro tools....
Overall, I love this interface and will continue to use it when needed. Its very portable, but it feels really cheap though. The knobs are plastic and its not heavy duty at all. Scared to drop it, because it might spit wide open if I do. So I handle it with care, it provides a great sound with low latency . I have tried several interfaces from ...
Overall, The build quality is okay and the thing is extremely easy to setup. However, my biggest gripe with it is that it doesn't go loud enough. You have to turn the mix and the gain knobs all the way up to get any decent sound out of the headphones. I usually mix at medium levels and crank it up later after I'm done to make sure the mix is rig...
I like the fact that it packs everything I need into a tiny box I can carry on the go. I do a weekly podcast at a friend's house, and the best thing about this is I can stick it in a laptop bag and take two mics with me for the whole show. Easy and done. I looked at the other models and this was the smallest interface that had all these featu...
If you are on a super tight budget and need something crazy cheap, this might work out for you. Keep in mind that it's USB 1.1, so you'll have to be running everything very bare when using this device. You can't have plugins running while using this or else you'll experience latency. I wouldn't pay more than $40 for this, personally.
This is probably my favorite M-Audio device for the price. It's packed full of features, super simple to use and sounds pretty good. The converters aren't the best in the world, but they're certainly not the worst. I wish it was firewire, but that's a personal gripe I have with most of these devices today.
If you're on a budget, this pre isn't too bad. If you can afford it, I recommend trying to get the Fast Track Pro. It'll have a few more features, although they basically sound the same. Try to find one of these used and use it in conjunction with your favorite DAW.
The price is kinda high, but there are a lot of features packed in here. It's a solid device that has good sounding converters. There are better devices out there, but they either lack the versatility this has, have breakout cables, are Firewire only and/or are Mac only. For the features this thing has, it's definitely worth checking out.
Overall, for the price this is a good interface or soundcard. It does the job well and has never given me any problems. I’d recommend it.
