Axiom 49 - Advanced 49-Key Semi-Weighted USB MIDI Controller

I set up a student music studio/computer lab in college, the lab had these keyboards hooked up to them. I have experience setting up and playing with this keyboard for Garage Band, Logic Pro, and Albeton Live

This is a great keyboard. I love the way the keys feel, the semi-weighted keys play just as I want them to. It reads velocities correctly, some other keyboards I have played will play either too soft or too loud of a velocity compared to what you are actually playing. It comes with a driver disk, but I never needed to use them. However I never tried to use it on a windows machine. But for Macs it will work no problem. All of the knobs on the keyboard can be customized to different midi functions depending on what software you are using. Channel pressure, pitch bend, modulation, etc. Its a great keyboard and will work well and with minimal setup for many programs.

I honestly can't think of any cons, It is big and not as easy to carry around as a smaller 25-key midi controller, but if you want more keys you need a bigger keyboard. Although the top and low ends of the pitch bends kind of maxed out before you extend them all the way. The best way for me to explain it is, when I go to bend the pitch up, about 1/8' before the pitch bend knob reaches its end, The controller reaches the highest point. So basically you don't have as much control of your pitch bends as you had ought to. Hope that makes sense.

Great quality, durable construction.

It is a great keyboard, and is no that expensive. You can do a lot with it and is a great addition for your studio, or for performance if you play through a laptop, the possibilities are endless depending on what software you use.

UTILIZATION

Out of the box the keyboard has a very good aspect, it's been robust, ergonomic and functional even if the number of buttons may be a little scared at the beginning ...

Installation without problem on Windows XP in any case, drivers cd rom COPIS and installs in 2 minutes, keyboard and recognized branch, reason recognizes it and accepts it instantaneously.

Touch is enjoyable, the notes respond well, and after touch works perfectly.

There bcp button, read the manual to really understand what each was used and how to configure it but I think with a minimum of hours passes over the beast must be tamed quite easily.

I wanted to start ds computer music! I would not put more than 260 euros and I chose this one because it looked very very full knobs and faders! I also wanted a Midi keyboard to use the ac groove box!

UTILIZATION

The keyboard is very pleasant touch in general, all the buttons (all assignable without exeptions!) Is very pleasant. I am a neophyte dc I have a little trouble with the software ableton but it is well done
However I find it very regrettable from M-Audio do not put instructions in the box because if the installation is easy on the computer, it is difficult to understand what each corresponding buttons on the keyboard directly prog! I wish not to be compelled to seek information on the internet! Finally, spend!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a month and what I like most, are the pads In fact, I think it's an idea to have exelente coupled keyboard and pads!
I have not had time to try many others because this one got rained on tt but a couple of other keyboards that I tried did not give me the feeling of "quality "M-Audio (I mean it feels like the fiabilté simply by touching the faders)
I would do without any doubts that choice!
I sincerely advice is really good value!

config for the prefects just download the software that they drive the council site. Hop and pretty prefects for most Reason rack and some vst common (among others)!

The keys are bizard at first but then we no longer love each aaptation do without.

The config is super simple with the free Enigma log ..
Otherwise the keyboard I do not know the config and now everything is better now!

C is the solid reliable compatible cheap! J v'eu in my home lol!
I remake that choice unless c to compare the model of akai mpk (mignonplus less expensive but not bad at all!)
I honestly have no action in n m c audio but I think a discovery that improves my access to the computer music.

Semi-weighted keys, by far the best touch that price and even the above.
I am all in-store test nbreux keyboards, sometimes 3000 euros ... it silent the better!

MIDI and USB connectivity ... classic full footswitch ...

8 pads, faders and endless pots, buttons, an LCD screen ... in short, it is full ARCHI.

I've had a year or so.

It is a little heavy for the nomad, but the only thing I n'apprcie not.

This is by far the best price and best quality without touching in touch heavy.

I would do without this choice and I recommend hsiter SERIES Axiom all my friends since I have. An excellent keyboard.

UTILIZATION

Semi-weighted keys? Yeah. Let's say it's a little better than a synth, but it's even a little similar. That said, it's enjoyable and trs APRS test full of keyboards including trs expensive, it's the best touch before taking crdit for 20 years.

OVERALL OPINION

I just plug the keyboard for the first time and it works nickel. Good touch. Knobs of good quality, sensitive pads.
It has lots of curves and even VLOC acclration curves. You can save your assignments knobs etc. as presets, so your back instantanment rglages depending on the software or the virtual instrument. Large-screen rtro clear knobs so they do not know what to do. I do not regret having sold the crap I had before (O2). It's the same mark but the day and night.

What motivated my choice: all checks pm: I used both keyboard and controller! (And the bargain price that I had ...)
She can connect two pedals, it connects both midi in usb, if it is usb the computer detects it immediately, and via the internet, installs the drivers without incident.

UTILIZATION

The touch is nice for this type of device, nothing to do anyway with the heavy touch of my Roland, himself, has the last few steps to climb to compare to a real piano ...

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 2 years. This is my first midi keyboard.

The feature I like most: all of these controls noon, pads, knobs, faders ... All parameters as desired (see article for details). Besides programming opportunities that I have not yet used.
The feature I like least: no m-audio axiom in 88 keys! Damage. More seriously, the pads are really limited to playing the drum. but as triggers, they add much to this keyboard already full!

I had OCCAZ so enjoyable value for money! Today, we can get it for even cheaper: for those who want acquire a very good keyboard, midi controller for only a hundred euros, there's no hesitation.

With experience, I do it again so this choice I eagerly awaits the release of the axiom 88!

- What technical features/characteristics motivated your choice?
I had previously owned the O2, also from M-Audio, and so what i really wanted here was a keyboard that worked...with no latency...with velocity curves you can choose...and keys that actually had some sort of touch to them.
Well, the Axiom has all that and more, although i'm not sure the 25 model has the adjustable velocity...check before buying cos that is one hell of a feature.

- What connection types are there (MIDI, pedals...)?...
USB, MIDI out, MIDI In, Expression jack, Sustain jack, power in, on-off switch, all on rear.

UTILIZATION

After my disastrous experience with the O2, i wanted to check this one out thoroughly and went round stores asking a lot of questions...and demanded to try it.
I tried some other keyboards in the process, of course, some of which were top of the range very expensive synths...none were as good as this except this with a proper heavy piano touch. But you can't compare them, really: this was the best of all the semi-weighted ones.

Haven't used it extensively yet but everything seems simple.

The endless rotary knobs are a plus. You even have pads! Loads of buttons all over the place...you also have faders! The array of assignable switches is virtually perfect.

OVERALL OPINION

I got this second hand for 160 €...instead of 250 € new. So the value is amazing (for me) . I haven't used it much yet but it's a pleasure every time i do.

The only thing that could make it better? More keys (get the 61 model then!) and a proper weighted touch.

Is this the best MIDI keyboard of this size/price? Most probably, yes! Would definitely buy it again!
