Gibson will launch in May the Memory Cable, a first-of-its-kind audio cable with built-in recorder designed by Tascam.
The Memory Cable is a 1/4” jack audio cable on which Gibson implanted a WAV 16-bit / 44.1kHz recorder to replaceable MicroSD card (it ships with a 4GB card, for about 10 hours of recording), so that you can then transfer the recordings to your computer.
The recorder will work when you plug the cable to a PA output or your instrument (guitar, bass, keyboards, electronic drums…) without even having to connect it to an amp. It is also designed for reamping. Note that you will be able to choose between two continuous or automatic recording modes (the latter only records when you play).
The Memory Cable is battery-powered.
