The installation is not the easiest forcment is the point where I think there is more to do.
But in any case for a simple test there is the Live CD which does NOT install on the computer and boot the system just not the CD

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I have a pentium III with a 1000 Delta 44 sound card and everything works well trs.
Any way it's linux so everything is customizable.
While the program is its nssessaires dja install base.
It is not always facole to know what does what when it comes to windows but when you search on discovering a power standard and freedom to act incredible. Especially thanks to Jack Audio connection in kit that connects the audio program to another.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for several months.
I love the total freedom for free (and without being an outlaw)
Quality price ratio = infinity

Installation not so easy
The actual installation from the CD DeMuDi is simple: it is guided by the screens to choose language, keyboard ... Only downside: no way to use an existing partition without formatting. One must therefore reject the installation of old scores after installation (in the tampering ficheir / etc / fstab).
Installation is quick, we are asked to remove the CD and go ... actually no, we left for a series of installation, and more are asked to reinsert the CD. In the 2nd phase of installation is a long time: especially if you have an old config (type PII 300Mz even with 320M of ram). Some packages like acpid (manager activity of periph) have refused to settle. If you have a more powerful config, this second part is not too long.
Finally: we arrive on the product itself.

Be careful if you have 2 sound card
The simplest way to be sure to use the right (and not integrated into the chipset of your motherboard manufacturer ), must stop all audio and run:
sudo alsaconf
It selects our sound card so that it is used by default.

Then you can launch Jack and start having fun.

OVERALL OPINION

- I started using Linux three years ago but only for office
- I discovered the Linux computer music there a year and a half ago, without forcing. I can not compile, I know almost no control on Linux is to say ...
- Jack Ardour + Rosegarden + Hydrogen + = 20% CPU load, all of which are interconnected (network design prevailing in Linux, even for audio)
