OD and distortion circuit with "Germanium" supposed to reproduce the sound of 60's - 70's

Ultra simple, the "volt" button to simulate a dying battery is really interesting to get very heavy very grimey distos

    SOUND QUALITY

used with a Strat and a 335 ES, obviously there is a difference of gain but it is manageable. I often combinais the two floors of the front foot, but I now use rather independently. The sound is less messy and there is less volume surges.

I have 2 years I think. Before I played on DS1 and DS2 and multi purpose but I was looking for a good vintage sound, or this pedal it all: rich in midrange distortion, vintage palette of sounds nice grain without a gas plant .. . For a really great price. That said it does not replace a good OD and a separate distortion in my opinion. I think more to acquire a Boss BD2 to complete a hard-OD, Germa and keep only the distortion with two gain stages background

There germanium and it feels! The dynamics of the pedal is purely astonishing! Each channel has its own personality, the first remaining in overdrive quite content, can take the place of boost, the second is much more biting, eyeing the Coote acid fuzz with more gain!
The knob simulating the state of battery provides a well disgusting!
I admit I was a little less convinced by the sum of the two where the breath reigns and where they should be securely fastened to attack it right!

    OVERALL OPINION

A nice pedal, fun to use, as a circuit which responds to lights, sounds warm and organic with a real personality ... To try to fall in love (or not).

It is an analog pedal 2 in 1 part overdrive and distortion part
The graphics are very very nice

A switch to enable each party, both combined, short rolling!

    UTILIZATION

Good first warning, it is not plug and play!

Please take the time to know the beast to understand how react adjustment, especially the knob "volt"

Otherwise it works in 9V, there is a bias knob that acts as a compression the rest is relatively basic.

    SOUND QUALITY

    While some focus:

Despite its name this is NOT a Big Muff! Some say that it is me yet his name, yes, but that is somewhat misleading, let me explain.

This pedal has no grain of classic big muff, very heavy, with a large sustain etc etc ... Do not think you can output audio on the gilmour comfortably numb solo as with this pedal. It really has nothing to do with her cousins Triangle, Ram's Head and other Sovtek resurrected.

That being said, this is by no means a failure, it is typically vintage with. A wide dynamic range (the overdrive clean boost with uncompressed audio that's what sublimate your clear sound)

From the distortion alone is a bit limited and makes sense for the game boosted with overdrive.

Small note: the amp has ample almost mandatory to truly harness the beast: I tested it on a fender blues deluxe is a treat!

    OVERALL OPINION

Excellent pedal from EHX who had disgusted with his big muff ressuis USA is an unspeakable horror! (For those who are happy with, tried the big muff clone the old shop that big muff, then it rocks!)

I used to play floyd 70s (up wish you were here) it was ideal.

I do longer serves for some time, I went on sounds more modern, but it brings happiness to my daddy!

    Anyway, I recommend it strongly!

    UTILIZATION

It is relatively simple to understand, it has a lot of possibilities, but it is quite complicated to find his sound between the bias adjustment, and the gain volts.
I mean even when you couple the two if it goes not feedback.

    SOUND QUALITY

I found the volt on the distortion quite nice, which provides the Fuzz. In fact it is really setting the volt I liked this pedal.

    OVERALL OPINION

In the end it is a pretty cool pedal, very versatile and distinctive vintage that will fill a transistor amp and will provide a real plus.

However, for a tube amp, I can not find the height, it is very versatile but it is nowhere good.

In any case seen the price new, it is really worth and even more opportunity.

the distortion of my stuff works just dirty (thanks to the "volt") to the snarling distortion that makes your ears bleed ...
And the two together! a massacre
It takes a little fiddling to achieve a proper balance but the opportunity is huge and every taste!

Difficult to play with thrash riff but otherwise it is really versatile

    OVERALL OPINION

I used the last few months and this is my pricipal distortion, I play with a zakk wylde les paul (emg) and all in a harley benton ga 15 modified (it will soon be ironing her way! )
sometimes live in the loop, and for one or two repet in facade ... and it is not modern but two sub harmonically rich ....
for the price do not hesitate if you want a "fuzz" versatile ... I expect to try a fuzz factory to see if the price is justified ...

Pedal overdrive / distortion with germanium transistors.
    Two separate and independent parts:
    - A distortion with gain, bias, and volt volume. The small round overdrive to saturated fat edge. A little vintage-oriented anyway. The bias can switch from a round and soft with a very sharp and defined. The knob volts is used to cut the voltage available to simulate a battery end of life. It adds a little distortion to the sound. Fun, but I preferred a knob tone.
    - An overdrive with gain, bias, tone and volume. The overdrive comes after the distortion. The gain is small but the sound is beautiful even if he tends to lack a little bass. The overdrive is very good other pedal before (like this…

True bypass, powered by 9V battery or 9V transformer standard.
As almost all EHX pedals, the switch is a little hard a little noisy one.

    UTILIZATION

The configuration is not very complicated but the parameters are a little unusual (bias, volt), we look a little at first but there is always a very fast sound.

    SOUND QUALITY

    The sound is beautiful.
Both sides of the pedal sound great separately and both are a combination of highly efficient and versatile.

    OVERALL OPINION

Very versatile pedal, but directed a vintage coat even if the distortion that can be obtained can sound very modern (playing with the bias).

The sounds are obtained from clean to heavy distortion colorful.
    Really nice.

So it's versatile, to say the least:

The second channel is clearly more vicious. It is squarely in the fuzzy distortion that can go from almost clean Surgical big thing unhealthy super yucky. As such, the Volt will compete squarely knob alongside super icky (well, to love, but hey, I love).

Both channels can be set to exaggerate a bit further "distortion" is, but that's less efficient to use the effect with that famous volt light overdrive.

Anyway, not only sounds are loes définissabes effectively by adjusting the controls on the pedal, but in addition, the pedal returns clearly the subtleties and delicacies of the game different each attack will generate a different sound with a predominance greater or lesser effect, which can switch from light to overdrive by simply playing the chord.

    OVERALL OPINION

Used for 4 months, she became my overdrive base permanently connected.
Although I still love him very much, I measure the quality difference with my old overdrive (an Ibanez TS-7).

I wish I had the opportunity to enjoy a light overdrive a little further, but the sounds are so beautiful that it does not really matter.

She is beautiful, she is good, it is not expensive, then yes, I would do this choice.

To be picky it could demand a Boost ... Oh and then nan, she is so awesome!

    UTILIZATION

A simple configure knob despite some who are not very clear ... Including Bias and Volts knobs that are not intuitive, we have the following basic tips that do not need to be explained: Gain, Tone, Volume. When you're a guitarist, the latter three are almost part of us! ^ ^
    Let's put everything flat.
The party has 4 knob Overdrive: Gain, Bias, Tone Volume. Part Disto comprises the knobs: Gain, Bias, Volts and Volume.
In 2 cases, the volume pot to serve Bias ... I did not understand ... It is a tone that manages another side of the sonic texture, it's actually quite difficult to explain, it must be heard to understand. When the knob volt ... is the most original of the pedal: It puts at the bottom, there is a normal sound, if you put it below the two-thirds capacity, we get a sound much less powerful and we need to increase the volume. However, it was a totally new sound: the users of the OD Overdrive from the same brand will feel at home. For others here:
The sound is the same as an old electrical equipment pushed to the limit on the pointer to drop. It's as cool as typed!
The English manual is clear enough. In French it is surely far more clear ^ ^
Finally, it is possible to activate the two parts simultaneously as said above ...

    SOUND QUALITY

Both effects are VERY different from each other ...
The overdrive is very distinctive vintage overdrive with sustain very short but incredibly powerful when everything is at bottom. In my case, I did not go into detail but can range from subtle jazzy overdrive until aggressive crunch that really does the gut. The only drawback if you want one is that the sustain is a little short ... BUT WHAT FISHING!
The distortion is pretty special. Quite messy but powerful, too (Germanium requires). The knob Volt (see above for the feature) is present only on this side of the pedal. We would have preferred to go to the overdrive side of the rear end! The classical distortion settings do not make a Chinese puzzle. We quickly found a sound that we agree!
The main drawback of this part is the breath nonexistent with overdrive, distortion too accentuated ... too bad = /
Finally, the use of both is more complicated: it will take time to find the right sound without feedback ^ ^ ... But once its found, you keep them with you more! =)
I use this pedal with a Custom77 China Girl Raw Raw Power (SG type guitar with two P90 pickups imitation) and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. So a sound leaning towards the treble and quite aggressive.
I'm totally addicted to the overdrive, a little lukewarm to the distortion and the two together ...

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it at home and in rehearsal, and I'm not disappointed! Low is the same past and the overdrive gives real character to sounds (like bass guitar).
The simple logo Electr-Harmonix reassured me, convinced me to try it!
What I prefer is the overdrive. The distortion is worse. It's very very sad: (
The value for money is excellent considering the components and controls.
I would do this chosen with the experiment without hesitation!

acqurir so it's really a first impression but I am far from having been around the beast. For a hundred euro replaces it with an overdrive and a distortion fuzz so it Plutt profitable. For now what bothers me is that it blows my diet (I have a pedalboard autoaliment So I leave with batteries (where it is quiet) and I'll test the transformer ehx. Passing it should be noted that it has a center and a standard negatives, not mini jack, unlike other EHX pedals I had, they will continue to j'espre a. J 'would be well liked a knob on the overdrive volt as it did can not be done to avoid walk on the flat strips of Germanium OD? Otherwise I am satisfied, it is more well as manufactures all EHX. A good first impression confirmed but ...

Edit of 10/12/2010: APRS 2 months I still love her more, she has a very wide range and always sounds convincing. This is the only pedal with which I happen to be on the bottom when I play rock, but thanks to the pedal not my game;)

1-L'overdrive: With wah wah (vox for me) you are immediately in the 60's. For the first time I feel like a true overdrive, it's really very fun to play and not restricted to one or two registre.Il means whatsoever is very fat (see dirty) or very light, while finesse.Entre button "bias" and the "tone" is very little change of tonalities and style. I would say quite versatile.

2-Distortion: argneuse Really, a lot less cluttered than the big muff U.S. (certainly of germanium). I always thought that the U.S. Big Muff was great for leads but not the rhythm, so that there 's is very good, you get very quickly to make good fucking rhythm pechu! The kiff!
on the other hand I still want to say that is not there, in a true sense of the disto therm, but more in a wicked (very bad) overdrive.Le volt button is nice for the experiments, but for the moment I prefer to donf (new battery, what).

The two 3-ensemnble: Lààààà it is in real distortion! Is simply great, it bursts to move from one channel to another, this can become very nasty if desired, or we use a little of both channels to boost the other.
The icing on the cake, the metal muff and I understood it very well together. my surprise it's better with the metal muff before the big muff (for now) But the overdrive channel boost the metal muff a hallucinatory manner is very pleasant, when like me, you love the big son.Je found myself several times with both lights on each pedal on, to have fun to cut a one time, once other.
Anyway I just grow my registry disto, a way I never imagined.

    OVERALL OPINION

I've had already today and it's madness, if I had good hands it will move serious.
By far the best overdrive I've tried (in this price range).
Exellent report qualitée money: 91 euro two pedals
I would do if this election? YES, and if they released a germanium metal muff 4 I buy direct!

    SOUND QUALITY

Being a big fan of Queens of the Stone have long sought to have that sound that makes this group so recognizable. With this pedal I am at anges.Je also has a classic Big Muff but it has nothing to do with it.

First overdrive: Wonderful, a true return to the Sixties! was the first sounds of The Who in particular the sound of "the seeker" but also that of the white stripesà "Fell In Love With A Girl". However with a simple microphone should really turn the gain way down to begin to really hear a crunch if it colors the sound but without crunch. So it's a very sweet overdrive but a real pleasure for fans of vintage, great for QOTSA (calms), white stripes, arctic monkeys, red hot .... We get it also wonderful for saturated color channel.

The side distortion: Again very good but it is much less powerful than a big muff but you can play classic styles enorment différents.Idéal for the QOTSA but also led Zepp, Black Sabbath ... The volt is really great knob interesting, you can really get it sound yucky though, I leave at 9am and we really get it the old sound that I love craque.Cependant a little more gain in this pedal but hey ... as for example in micro simple solos are hard to play because of this lack of power.

    OVERALL OPINION

A great pedal for all fans of vintage. I'm really impressed with the overdrive that I find enormous. a true success. I just love more gain distortion.
