    Peavey Rage

    Peavey Rage 108Published on 11/11/02 at 15:00
I bought this amp locally for around $100. I needed a small amp that would be easy to carry around to friends houses to jam with them without lugging a large amp.

I like the size, and the quality of construction. I already owned a larger Peavey amp (Ultra 112) so I knew that Peavey made a reliable product.

I don't like the absence of reverb. The Blazer model with reverb was not in stock at the time, so I got this one. I was in a hurry. That was a mistake. I should have looked around more and listened to more models. After playing with it for about 6 months, I finally traded it in on an Ibanez 15 watt amp with reverb that sounds better. The tone on this amp was not as good. Sounded a bit muffled... not clear, even on the clean channel.

Well constructed, and would probably last a long time. I have owned lots of Peavey products and always liked the reliability. In the end it was the poor tone quality and lack of reverb that made me get rid of this one.

I would buy a different amp. A Kustom or Ibanez or Orange or almost anything but a Rage. Other Peavey amps are very good, but this one is not that great.

    Peavey 108

    Local Market - £40.00 (clean 2nd Hand)

It's light. Very light - I'm a bass player, I live on the first floor, my amps live on the 2nd floor, and as I get older I wish I'd taken up the flute!

For rehersals, jams and folk-dances this is the box to take; it'll cope (just) with by bass, and miked up (rather than DI - the speaker distorts nicely giving a good growl absent from my bigger boxes at low volumes). It travels by bus to drinking gigs and can cope with being deluged with beer (like any Peavey). At a trad Jazz do recently someone whacked a Mike through it and sang St James Infirmary - they left the lead channel on by accident, the result was this wild, Tom Waits overdriven voice, lik…

Not a solo amp for anything with drums, but fine for everyday sketching, writing, busking (where there's mains), and lending to other musos (it's cheap).

It isn't very loud. The speaker projects a long way, so using it as an onstage monitor with DI to the desk is a poor move, as everyone else can hear if you're playing the wrong tune, but all you can hear is noise.

    Solid, well made, small.

Tough, dependable, flexible, bigger than it really is, light, portable and good looking.
    I like it.

    Peavey Rage

    Peavey Rage 108Published on 06/07/02 at 15:00
I bought this little 15 watt rage at a local dealer for around $100. I needed something small to play at home.

Well, it is everything I wanted and more in a practice amp. It had great tone and features, plus lots of balls. I use it out even!!! Only when I have small gigs though. I think it is great for playing to groups of 10-20 people. It really lets you blend in with the rest of the band yet still have extra when you need to take a lead. Of course this only works in small areas but what do you expect to get with a fifteen watt five pound amp.

    I don't like that I can't put a foot pedal in it.

well It is a kick ass amp. It hasn't let me down yet. I don't expect it ever will. I…

well It is a kick ass amp. It hasn't let me down yet. I don't expect it ever will. It has even dropped from 3 feet off the ground during a gig and it just kept on playing. I don't suggest trying it though.

This is a versatile amp that even my wife doesn't mind carrying around. It sounds great and is powerful and cheap. If all you want is a practice amp I suggest trying it in a store with a guitar similar to the one you one. It can't hurt to try it anyway

    Ebay.com $61.00

Light Small and loud. Great for punk or just regular clean sound. Lightweight and durable. Headphone jack keeps my parents from yelling at me.

No mic input, and limited by the 40 watts to play a show.

    Good quality.

A great beginner amp with great sound. However its not for those who have a big amp and looking for a backup.

    Portable and cheap

    Peavey Rage 108Published on 10/31/11 at 10:55
The Peavey Rage 108 is an older model Peavey amp that was one of their first attempts at a cheap and portable amplifier. It has 2 channels, a shared EQ, and auxiliary and headphone inputs too. It puts out around 10 watts of power and is driven by a single small Peavey driver. There really isn't much to write home about with this amp, it just is what it is. Nothing really remarkable, just what is needed to get the job done.

    UTILIZATION

The amp is not terribly hard to dial in. It certainly doesn't sound stellar by any means, but you can dial it in for some passable tones, though certainly not as good ad the later Peavey Rage amps like the 158. The tones are a bit flat and generic sou…

    UTILIZATION

The amp is not terribly hard to dial in. It certainly doesn't sound stellar by any means, but you can dial it in for some passable tones, though certainly not as good ad the later Peavey Rage amps like the 158. The tones are a bit flat and generic sounding... the transtube technology that was refined on the 158 was simply stellar and had a wonderful tubelike tone. This amp just seems to sound very small and compressed, making the tones a bit more lifeless to my ears.

    SOUNDS

This amp doesn't sound all that great when pitted against more modern practice amps that either off a better tone or more features. This model has two channels, the clean sounding very stiff and boring... no sparkle or life there, and the drive channel which has hints of sounding decent but overall it's just got a certain buzziness and harsh quality that makes it unpleasant to play through. The EQ doesn't really do a whole lot of justice to changing the tone, and the small speaker really just makes the amp sound too boxy.

    OVERALL OPINION

All in all I think there are better choices out there than this amp. It doesn't offer much in the features department and the tones are pretty mediocre at best. Peavey later released the Rage 158 which is far superior to this amp and can be had for probably close to the same price. I would stay away from this amp... there are better options out there.
