Pacific LX

PDP Pacific Drums and Percussion LXPublished on 03/07/04 at 15:00
I bought these from Guitar Center Feb 2004
Paid $799.00 for 5 piece LX ( shell kit}
The color is Ultra Violet

The color and finish is absolutly awsome!
The sound edges are perfect no holes or pockets. The mounting system (ball socket}
is great, they stay put or atleast have so
far. The shells are ROUND to the thousandth. They have a pretty wide tuning range for thin shells, with G2's.

I had some lug and rod problems, the t nuts started to strip in two of the snare lugs and one rod broke off in the T nut
on a tom( with low tention). But a call to the factory with only one minute on hold and they hooked me up(super cust support!)
Use grease and ck for burrs!

I dont like the hoops i had some problems tuning and i knew the shells should sond better. I bought aftermarket super hoops
and O'Boy what a differance,They tuned themselves,and man what a sound!!!

The construction and quality is great, as I mentioned before sound edges and roundness is perfect. There is litterly no ring or vibration(Just Sound). The shells are matched in pitch very well! Great projection! Great Bass thud. The fine thread T rods are nice for fine tuning but run a die on them and USE GREASE! The hardware is very adjustable and easy to position.

With very little tweeking (Heads and Hoops)
You get a proffesional sound. For the money
paid i dont think any other set comes close.
I have played and scrutinized many sets.
Hope my dribble helps!

Pacific Lx

I'd been playing for a couple years on various pieces of junk, and I was ready to get something decent for myself! I found the set used at Daddy's Junky music for $580. It was in very good condition, and I just couldn't resist the deal. I wasn't really considering Pacific at first, but when I tried out the set and found out it was all Maple laquered shells, I took the plunge. Plus, it came with a nice DW pedal and more hardware than I'll ever even need! I'm still not sure if this set is actually an LX or not. It doesn't say on it. It's very similar though.

It has a beautiful, teal laquer finish and sounds great. It came with all the original heads, so I'll have to replace them over time. I put a Remo on the bass drum and got a hole in the resonant head, and now it sounds even better. I like the sizes (fusion). The 10 inch sounds great and the 18 inch bass drum depth is also a plus. It came with the DW logo on the resonant bass head, which I thought was cool :-) It comes with a bass pillow and maple bass drum hoops. The hardware is sturdy as anything.

It scratches, but so does everything, I suppose. One of the bass drum hoops seems to be a bit bigger than it should be, but that may be normal. Not much to complain about, especially for the price I got it at.

See above. Pretty good.

It's great having a good looking, good sounding set of my own now. For me, it was just what I was looking for with the price I got it at. I'm not sure about buying one for full price, though. There may be better choices, I'm not sure. It's definately a good set though.

Pacific Pacific LX Drums

I bought it at Guitar Center on 5/23/03. It was a deal for just the shell pack(crimson red color) of 10"/12"/14"/22"/and 14" snare for $850, yes only $850... yamaha stage customs and tama rockstar customs are $900 with hardware, i think this deal is unbelieveable.

With a high-gloss/lacquer finish and all maple shells, there is no explanation on how the price could be so low. I read the other review that gave this product a 1 out of 5... he must have bought it when they were a lot higher priced and a lot less quality because it is nothing compared to what the LX's have become now. The drums sound great all around, there is rubber things between all the lugs and the drum itself-insuring lasting quality. The tom mounts(extra support system thing) are great and a very good asset. The color (crimson red) is amazing. It is a lot lighter than what is shown on Pacific's website and the see-through finish looks great since you can see the texture of the wood.

of course it is a given that all drums come with crappy head on them. So i bought some Evans G2 coated heads and it brings out the best of the drums. I would also suggest Aquarian Studio-X heads too, on all the drums. I cant think of anything i dont liike about this set...

Very nice construction wise, i would give it a 9 out of 10 for overall. Pacific does a great job on all the little things about each drum.

If you want a professional looking and sounding drumset for a cheap price, I would definately go with the Pacific LX's. The 2003 models just kep getting better. I saw the hardware, which was optional in my case, and it is not really worth the extra $200 or so. Buy your own hardware. This set is the shit

The Pacific LX series drums are amazing. For the price of an intermediate drumset, you can have a pro-level set. I ordered my kit two years ago and spent over a week just trying to pick a finish, they were all so beautiful that it made it extremely hard to choose one. I went out to all the local music stores and tried out many different styles and brands of kits. The Pacifics me better shells, better hardware, and better tone. A lot of the other kits that compare with this kit can cost you anywhere from $1200 - $1500. I got my kit for under $1000 bucks, and it came with a 22" x 18" Bass which has great tone and depth to it, a 14" x 5" snare which has a great crack...…

A lot of the other kits that compare with this kit can cost you anywhere from $1200 - $1500. I got my kit for under $1000 bucks, and it came with a 22" x 18" Bass which has great tone and depth to it, a 14" x 5" snare which has a great crack sound to it, and I also got 10" x 8", 12" x 9", and 14" x 12" rack toms which are great because the depth of the shell gives it a great sound, and I received a 16" x 14" floor tom. The only problem I have with the kit is that I'd really love to have full depth floor toms. Instead of having the 14" tom mounted with a RIMS style mount I would have rather gotten floor tom legs. Ideally I think 14" x 14" and 16" x 16" toms sound way better for floor toms because they give it that low end. The hardware that comes with the kit is great. The cymbals are double braced and the pedal is a double chain drive. All pacific kits are topped of with DW drumheads which are made by Remo so that was nice too. Overall the kit is great, and for the money you won't be making a mistake by purchasing this kit.
