The new version of the Universal Audio UAD Software for Apollo and UAD-2 interfaces includes 4 new-plug-ins, including the Manley Variable Mu.

The UAD Software v7.11 offers three virtual processors developed by third-party companies as well as the Variable Mu compressor and limiter designed in partnership with Manley Labs.

This plug-in reproduces the original Variable Mu Class A circuit, with its tubes, custom transformers, input gain and gain reduction characteristics so that you can compress or limit your master track, sub-groups and individual tracks. The stereo plug-in also includes a dry/wet mix control, parameter linking option and a Headroom feature, as well as continuous input, output, threshold and attack controls. A sidechain filter is also available and you can choose between Mid/Side or right/left operations.

The UAD Manley Variable Mu compressor and limiter plug-in is available now for $299.

The UAD Software v7.11 also adds two Vertigo VSM-3 Mix Satellite and VSC-2 Compressor plug-ins developed by Brainworx. The first emulates the VSM-2 harmonic generator, which is famous for its range of colored saturations. You can apply two generators simultaneously in parallel or series: a 2nd harmonic FET Crusher generator for a warm saturation or distortion, or the 3rd harmonic Zener Blender model for a bright and clear effect. Both generators can be used on specific frequencies and then filtered via the Shape control. Last, you can choose between Mid/Side encoding and decoding for the full stereo signal circuit or for each channel.

The VSC-2 reproduces the very first product released by Vertigo, a compressor with 4 discrete VCA, but with more modern specifications. You’ll get a Soft mode with threshold-dependent ratio to automatically increase the input level, or a Brick mode that transforms the VSC-2 into a limiter.

Last, you’ll find in this update the MDWEQ5 parametric EQ plug-in developed by equalizer master George Massenburg. Two plug-ins are included; the MDWEQ5 with 5 bands and the three-band MDWEQ3. Massenburg DesignWorks also added an IsoPeak feature that detects problematic frequencies.

Each of these three plug-ins is designed for the Apollo audio interfaces and UAD-2 DSP Accelerator devices. They have a unit price of $299. You’ll find more info about this update at www.uaudio.com.
