1 Pre-mastering/Redbook standards? Anyone?
I'm no mastering engineer at all, but what do you guys do to get a consistent RMS volume between tracks on an album? Rely on ears? Program? I downloaded MP3Gain for free at

http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/download.php

and it says it adjusts RMS without adding artifacts, but am now figuring it out slowly.

Hasn't standard CD audio always been something like -16db? or am I nuts?

This thing is giving me a volume gain somewhere around 96db.

Anyone care to add to the confusion?
