Korg Electribe ES-1
Published on 12/28/01 at 15:00I acquired this unit because I felt like I wanted to update the sound of my drums and add some groove to it, since i was only using Jeskola's Buzz and some drum samples for my drumming. I got the drum machine at guitar center for about five-hundred dollars.
The Unit is great because there are tones of fresh samples and ten effects that sound great, as well as delays, and preset loops. It has room for more samples to be added and up to ninty seconds of recording time. Its coolest feature in my opinion, though, is that when another drum loop is put into the machine, the es-1 automatically cuts it up, so you can screw around with it more. You can also add swing to the beats as well, adding more of a human element to the drumming.
Its hard to add more than one effect to a track, and adding delay to one certain part of the drumming is dificult as well.
Its a durable little thing, compact and also eye catching.
A great piece for anybody who can't play drums and wants to have something that sounds professional and catchy as well. Very easy to work, and it looks nice too.

Solid Machine
Published on 11/27/11 at 22:08The Korg Electribe ES1 is a great machine to use with sampling, not as good as the MPC line of productions though in my opinion but it does the trick and its pretty cheap as well. Got one for 350 about two years ago on eBay.

This is extremely disturbing in itself, but is noteworthy because it gives color to the sound, very popular Tribers elsewhere.
SOUNDS
The entrance is in good, the record is clear, the conversion is done without color which is appreciable. The sampling rate is lower than a CD and you can feel on the treble. Typically above 14kHz there's more much. Damage to the hats. I do my most difficult but useful for a sampler is, stereo input, effects,
OVERALL OPINION
Configuration is quick and easy. No sub menus.
The pads are very pleasant to the touch and the machine responds to tit for tat. For quelqun like me from the world's PC giant
98.3 seconds sample is more than enough to cope. Contrary to what has been said in other posts, a smart media card can hold nine memory configure the bike, each time with 16 songs and 98.3 seconds per sample configure. Add to that samples parts for Trip to wav (up to 100 additional samples can be stored on the memory card and loaded the bike).
A configure (16 songs - 98.3 seconds of sample) to take max 4.5 Megs SM on the map. 9 configure ca therefore takes about 40 Megs 9 configure to complete - remains in place for 24 Megs of sample at 32kHz on a map 64 Megs. So that you can keep your SM still 12 minutes of additional samples at this frequency.
Used in "Cubase", 98.3 seconds is nothing I agree.See less10 - Trz303Published on 06/06/03 at 06:53 (This content has been automatically translated from French)T said it all.

L or ES-1 is a machine of madness is its use:
everything is super intuitive and it's a breeze to write patterns on this machine.
I compare some of the Game Boy musician: you light, you play, you save, it's beautiful!
I use it as jam electronic machine, the samples I'm on PC and then in the memory via SmartMedia. We arrive get a good deal of the same samples, by Picha (up / down), reversing, etc ...
Ok it is limited, but so much fun!
The only big regret we can not save the configuration of the "mute", which requires going through the option volume of each part is not practical!

I'm too cool thing with this machine, its simplicity and its boundaries grow more crativit I think. Improvisation is really easy ... I love it!See less10 - BellesOndesPublished on 01/17/06 at 04:56 (This content has been automatically translated from French)Everything has been said already except that the total duration of sampling is exactly 98.3 seconds. Used in "Cubase", 98.3 seconds is nothing I agree. But if you use it as a sampler - which are the aim Ed - to do loops and mix them in patterns, ca is more than enough to make beautiful PERFOS live.
You just learn to use the card SM
SOUNDS
Next bank of sounds, well it was your turn, it's a sampler !!!!!!
The term is limited because, in fact, banks and other effect automations are unique pattern which limits good anyway. Impossible in an even pattern to a large fazer a bass loop by compressing a kick too deaf. ONE ONE purpose and automation with a single accent pattern by ... drive.
The effects are of variable quality. Good nice for fazer, while the reverb sucks ...
The delay is good but only on the master, which is too stupid ...
In fact this bike is a part of empty canvas. Take your brush (samples) and color patterns.
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for a week.
What I like most: The machine interface, the feeling in hand. It's like a giant toy.
What I like least: The effects are uneven and no possibility of routing delay which is really bad.
But nothing prevents, I love this bike!
I do it again if I had that choice and I will buy a sub ESX-1 but hey that's another story.
If it again I will do (180 E Used)See less100 - FP UserPublished on 10/31/08 at 16:00Nice features, everything I expected. no surprises..

Everything is layed out well, except the knobs are kind of.. too close together. manual explains almost everything.
it's nice, except the only thing getting in the way of a live show are the knobs. they're too close together.. it's too easy to bump another knob out of value while twiddling m4d h4rdk0re with the delay or something. oh, and the buttons are rubbery, so the numbers will eventually rub off of them. and they get all sticky after using it for some time.

Samples are recorded at 38khz, pretty low. slight distortion compared to 44khz, nothing big. the effects aren't the best. you can only apply one effect at a time, and it has to be the same effect. (this is the reason i've decided to return it, i'm big on effects)
OVERALL OPINION
It's really good except for the knobs and effect issues i stated above. i've returned it. you know.
