All in all I think the Epiphone G-400 is a great guitar for someone looking for an instrument that is well priced and apes that classic devilish SG look. It's well built and plays well out of the box. The stock parts are not the best in the world, but the feel is surprising for a cheaper guitar. The set neck construction is a real selling point,...
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this instrument. I realize that there are quality control issues in any company, especially in instruments this inexpensive, but I shouldn't have to clean out a brand new guitar's electronics. The pickups are the only thing bringing this review up from being really bad. Please, friends - if you see this guitar, don'...
If you are looking for a good SG with P90s you should check this out before you go spending big bucks on a Gibson. A guitar like this has 90 percent of the features you would get on a Gibson but at a fraction of the price. The only problem I find on this guitar is the bridge and you can easily replace it with a fine tuner wrap around unit and th...
For the price, this guitar is a great deal. Anyone picking this for a first, second, or backup guitar will not be disappointed. 9 out of 10 overall.
Its pretty cool that Epiphone is putting out good midlevel guitars that will cater to what the kids want nowadays. This isnt the Epiphone Les Paul special junk Epiphone was known for. This is a real serviceable guitar with great features and quality pickups. This guitar is perfectly road worthy and with a nice setup will play as well or better t...
All in all I think the Epiphone G400 Negative is a decent take on the SG. Like any Epiphone it is bound to be plagued with some cheaper parts and sometimes hit or miss workmanship, but for the $400 price that they were new, it's not too bad. They are now discontinued but you can find them used for about $250, which is a decent price to pay for a...
This is a good reissue of a classic guitar. There is something wrong with paying 1500 dollars for a reissue of a guitar Gibson sold for like 90 bucks back in the day as their budget model. Some people may be willing to pay a lot of money for what was a low end guitar a few years ago but it doesnt seem too smart. This Epiphone more matches the sp...
If you are looking at this guitar I suggest you save some money and get the normal G400. The Maestro trem does not add much but it takes away a lot in terms of sustain and tuning stability. The G400 is a good guitar overall so why bother getting one with a bunch of crazy add ons that take away from the goodness.
The Epiphone G-400 has all the same pieces that a Gibson SG has. The only difference is that it was made in another part of the world. This guitar with the EMG pickups will give you better metal tones than any Gibson SG with Gibson pickups. It is nice for Epiphone to put out moderately priced guitars that come with high end pickups. You could no...
This guitar fits the Prophecy line better than the Les Paul version does. The 24 fret neck on the SG body fits well. The SG body lets you reach the upper frets better. And the SG shape just looks metal. If you are looking for a metal SG and dont mine it being an Epiphone this is a good choice.
