I have this snare for two years now. I like the sound, but it is modern as it should. Sound like a slap metal case but the warmth of wood with hammering. I had tried long ago and fell in love. I looked for a year and a half into an opportunity and I ended up finding it. Newfoundland is a bit expensive for the Taiwan made it and used it almost impossible to find. In the harder it is to try it in stores because it is not in stock. I use it in funk and even reggae I am very satisfied. For the jazz is a bit against the "hard". I think she is perfect for rock even though I play more. I have version deep (6.5 inches) and I sometimes wonder if it does not suit me better in 5.5 including jazz. But it's a great snare drum with a real personality, a modern sound, versatility, and precision attack of the metal with the warmth of wood. Finally I that I love is that well-ordered, it does not need to mute, which to me is really a sign that it's a great body.
