80 Watts are real watts, but the Valvestate is a selling point, because lamp, there is an unfortunate light on the card.
Change lamp and you change the sound, it is valid on all the amps, especially this one.

    UTILIZATION

The config is simple, the manual is useless.
Getting a good sound will depend on:
    the age of the machine
what you call a good sound
lamp as set gugus that you sold
In case you have a great sound in the other sound will ch ...
So I put 5 because it is either 3 or 7.

    SOUNDS

On this amp, I play the big rock that spot quite unbalanced. Otherwise, I have the Fender Twin and JC120 when I want a chiseled sound. If want a chiseled her, forget this amp, it is a raw sound. It has the Marshall sound, but do not fool around, it's not a head lamp 100 wadding, this is a portable schoolboy. With a mesa preamp, it's better.

    OVERALL OPINION

I recovered carafe there two years and I repaired. For over 40 years I tried amps that gave me joy, tears, a desire to fuck the window, shots of juice that crushed my feet crushed genitals (when I fell on gas plants). One, he is honest, not that bad, but horribly lousy electron level.
Given the price of Cygnus is a good Q / P to play with a deaf drummer and have (almost) sound at Marshall.

I used this amp for 2 1 / 2 years to start is still correct, but I reckon we can find better now for the same price (Peavey Bandit for example), but one time all depends on taste everyone try and make up your own mind ...

    + + Sw channel footswitch with a 1 / 2 and a reverb on / off

Everything looks good in the features it lacks can be an extension speaker, a headphone jack too ...

I note according to its class, because you can not compare this amp to a 10 watt transistors or a small 100 watt Soldano ..

    UTILIZATION

+ - The settings are very simple, just turn the head so one of + or - it's not a big deal on this amp.
    - The pots have influence only from uin certain volume before it is useless to set it always sound the same!
+ + The manual? I know I've never seen the color but not required!
    - From a volume too loud the sound becomes inaudible and downright dirty, too leaning toward the treble

:: I put 6 for ease of settings that will suit perfectly for a beginner, you get the sound you want after a short time, finally, be careful not to ask too much is not crazy about this amp precision !

    SOUNDS

I jouepas lot of rock, made up of 70's or riff with palm pTis AccordD in the sum of the fine or 41 lead to satriani (I do not know if you can call it beautiful little experience saw my guitar!)

.. I play on cort m600 and I do not use my amp in the multi purpose because it produces too much breath (it's the multi purpose) so jai a raw sound that fits in the amp

+ - Then clean it is not horrible but I can not find the sound I was looking for (warm sound a little crunchy on the Soldano, or just like pink floyd) remains Honorable .. But no versatile .. I did not find overwhelming clean ...

+ - + I play some blues, but sometimes I use the crunch for flirting and minitier blues and I find it quite nice, you really push the gain so that it is good especially with the guitar neck pickup in position .. pity he does not arrive before

+ + - Ah the disto c'estr part quite successful on this amp .. OD1 channel bah I do not use it, or very rarely, there is no sound I'm looking for against the OD2 channel is really good ... harmonics are good ... c not accurate enough for my taste but not too runny either honnnorable so it is versatile enough thanks to the pot edge even though he is a gd role!

--- The reverb is very good to put one but it would be even better now if it was not there just to decorate and make a footswitch knob + of the amp .... because it is very very feeble that!

I put 5 because the sounds are not great but not bad either it's still nice as it remains at a reasonable volume 3 to 4 with a gain in half. From 6 it gets too rough and worn to the acute

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a year so I really amlpi around this, but it allowed me to find the sound I'm looking for one I love and then direct me to a later model with a its more defined. He made a lot of my services and never failed (apparently I'm lucky!)
:: I recommend for beginners is a great amp to start, of course if it is in good condition! Not too expensive, you can start a scene with little (well not too long because you get tired very quickly on scene to play with)
:: If I referrer I began the same choice but DAHS or I am I want to pass on a good vieu tt kind lamps rivera chubster example!

.. I put 6 because I find them quite interesting distos even if they are not fabulous and it is still a pretty good value for money knowing that € 250 amps new one does what? not much!

I note 8 because it is full, no-frills, but could still s'amliorer.

    UTILIZATION

The configuration of this amp is ultra-simple: RULES volume, gain, and turning the knob "Contour" to his search! Rglages do but little.
We obtain easily the "approaching" the one we seek. IDAL to get the sound, the knob should be "Medium" has a vritable useful and not just for the décor.
For the manual, I've never had, and I never needed it.
Plus: no need to shout to make it sound so clean.
Minimum: Not to be put o scream the sound becomes horrible.
Use: 8 home, 4 for the concert and the oxen, 6 for RPTS. Rating: 6
PS: When I read that this amp can not keep a drummer in rpt nerv ... The purpose of a rpt is not just to yell and see what comes out is to play together. For a, no need to play super hard, even in powerful style. So yes this amp is quickly jettisoned in concert and beef, but is ample for a rpt performs correctly.

    SOUNDS

    The sound ...
    One could write a book!
FYI, I jou this amp with all kinds of guitars: Jackson rises DiMarzio, Fender and Squier Start, BC Rich, LTD Ex450, Ibanez, Blade, now I play with a "Spirit by Steinberger" rises three EMG: EMG 81, SA 60.
    To begin with, clean.
My advice: go your way, the clean of this amp makes me shudder. It is horrible. To begin with, OK, if not, go your way really. My neck pickup saturates almost all the time, regardless of the volume, the receiver can not transmit the sound of my other microphones fawn convincing.
    Then BOOST.
The BOOST provides a wide range of distos trs, Satus, crunch and normment things. It's pretty cool when you are looking for beginners and that we can tame any style without breaking the bank, and even if all these sounds are not at the top, they stay when Ms. Fidler a certain spirit. Marshall Grain typical fawn all, we like it or not.

I note 5: the average because it can approach any style, but no more, because the sounds are when it sends the same quality carrment average.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use this amp for 5 years. In the era I had bought a guitar player who used it to register (yes ...). He never made default, and never fails, even with the beers he drank with us, and I fell on it in my loft (just two pots of casss).
What I like about this amp is its wide range of sounds. It's not all prs.
What I like least is the sound that comes out dirty, especially high volume, rverb I find sometimes not so good (personal opinion, most of my friends kiffent the reverb).
In the era, I tried many amps, but mostly Marshalls MG. So it seemed to have the superb sound.
The report is correct qualitprix no more. They are found today for less than 100 euros OCCAZ, and was worth it for a first amp. But by being part of a first amplifier, it is better to move to something else.
Since I had the opportunity to try many other amps, and my style has also volumes. Vintage Rock and more bluesy, I invested in a Peavey Classic 30 (30W all-tube). L t aa slap: first its all lamps, super clean, the crunch orgasmic and very nice reverb. Another world. But not the same budget (650 euros nine with footswitch for the Peavey). I keep my Marshall for my excursions mtalleuses, o the grain of my Peavey can not take me, and as a second amp for steers when friends improviss scratch dbarquent home.
I note 5, because this is my first guitar amp, which avcu many things, and that t has always reliable. No more, this sound is far from being done for the perfectionists.
Super long as we are looking for, ds shit we found her musical path.

Why on earth would you need 80 watts of this amp is beyond me? This amp sounds terrible. It is sort of a hybrid amp with a preamp tube ECC83 in the preamp section. This is to get people who know that tube amps sound better in the digital solid state stuff. This amp can only sound processed with a voicing of tubes. You need the power tubs to make it feel like a real tube amp. he preamp tube is simple more for voicing and preamp gain. The real part of a tube amp is the interaction between the preamp tubes and power tubes and the feeling that they create between each other.

The real part of a tube amp is the interaction between the preamp tubes and power tubes and the feeling that they create between each other.

    UTILIZATION

8080: 80 Watt COMBO. Channel Selection Description

    CHANNEL 1 (Normal)
    1. Input Jack - Connects the guitar to the amplifier.
    2. Gain Control - Controls the gain level of the normal channel on both Clean and Crunch selections. In Clean mode, sounds remain clean, even at high gain levels. When switched to Crunch mode the amount of crunch increases as you wind the gain up.
    3. Clean/Crunch Rhythm Switch - Push switch to select either clean or crunch sounds on the normal channel (push in for Crunch).
4-6. Bass, Middle & Treble - Full 3 band EQ for normal channel tonal selections. These controls are effective and interactive to give you incredible versatility. Try as many combinations as possible to really get to know your EQ.
    7. Channel Select Normal to boost channel selector switch. This function is also footswitchable. Set the switch to the in position for the footswitch to function. LED’s indicate which mode has been selected.

    CHANNEL 2 (Boost)
    8. Gain Control - Controls the gain level of the boost channel, which features ECC 83/12 AX7 valve drive. This control is effective on either overdrive selection. On OD1, it fattens the bluesy distortion and on OD2 goes from rock overdrive to full metallic thrash as you turn it up.
    9. Overdrive Select (OD1 to OD2) - Manually switches from creamy “classic” OD1 to screaming “Hi Gain” OD2 distortion modes.
10-12. Bass, Middle & Treble - Effective 3 band EQ to shape the tone of all overdrive selections.
    13. Contour Control - This sweeping control shifts the mid-band voicing of the boost channel to give amazing versatility to your overdrive sounds. When used in conjunction with the 3 band EQ, this control is devastating!
    14. Volume Control - Controlling the overall level of the boost channel, this allows volume balancing between the two channels.

    MASTER SECTION
    15. Effects Send Jack - For linking to the input of an external effects processor.
    16. Effects Level Switch - Selects the level to match your external effects units (0dB for rack units and -20dB for pedals).
    17. Effects Return Jack - For connection from the output of an external effects processor.
    18. Effects Mix - Allows you to mix the effects to dry signal. Note, if no effects pocsessor in line, Effects Mix fully clockwise will result in no signal.
    19. Master Reverb - Controls the level of reverb effect on all channel selections.
    20. Master Volume - Controls the overall volume level of the amp or combo.
    21. Line Out Jack - Filtered low level signal for linking to a recording or mixing desk.
    22. Footswitch Jack - For the connection of a two way footswitch for reverb and channel selection

    SOUNDS

This amp doesn't sound very good at all. You would be better off getting the entire amp a solid state. The preamp tube does nothing for this amp. The FDD is some of the other solid state amps from Marshall make the amp feel more tube like but nothing can imitate a real tube amp.

This amp is really designed for practice. You cannot take this on sage and get a good sound from either the amp or the sound man, He may not even let you on stage with this thing. This is designed for home use and practice. So it is beyond me why you need 80 watts of it?

    OVERALL OPINION

These amps have been fused out of production. I think the MG series has now replaced them on the market. You can certainly find them on the used market fairly cheap. I would only recommend this amp to someone just starting out with the electric guitar and needs a beginners amp. If you need a practice amp for home or office and need something that you cab plug headphones in then this is a decent amp for that.

    SOUNDS

This gives a right and its pretty clear clean channel, used a Telecaster U.S.: good record highs, very banging. May seem a bit cold, although on certain securities 90'S New Wave but little heat and lack of momentum for a more 70's style or styles more "roots" in general.

The distortion is not bad but still very limited settings (allow one or two good pedal)

beautiful spring reverb on the other hand

    OVERALL OPINION

Very happening everywhere still like amp, I would say lack of personality.
But little good help, I use it mostly in repeats. It can easily be used on stage, he even served me a lot of great scenes. It can be very powerful if it grows well gain.

+ the lamp warms the sound input which gives it more in relation to a unit transistor. attention does not expect to have the dynamics of a tube amp, it's still very right output.

ThE - settings that do not really on the sound (maybe they are faulty on mine I bought secondhand in '98 I do not really know when it dates ...)

If you want an example of what can sound out the beast, listen to "Crazy bodies" on my myspace http://www.myspace.com/accident7 recorded with a Telecaster and this amp.
