I mainly play guitar and drums, i have been playing guitar for three years now, and play in two bands. My favourite type of music is somewhere between rock and metal, which is what we play in my band.

I bought this guitar from a local retailer in norfolk, england for £375GBP (approx $650 USD). I bought it in April 2004, as a replacement for my SG.

The finish on the guitar is absolutely bueatiful, the MH, (Mahoganey) version, is a real eye catcher, both onstage, and in a studio.

The pickups are superb, as Ibanez decided to fit dual seymore duncan humbuckers, instead of their own brand ones.

The neck has a nice thin profile, and due to the accuracy in the build quality, with a slight bit of tweaking an incredibly low action can be achieved.

The headstock is something a bit different for an ibanez, whilst still having the trademark angled end.

Through body stringing provides superb resonance, especially as it is coupled with the 3 pc. set in neck, that makes this guitar truly special.

Inlays in neck are very attractive

The Gibraltar III bridge, allows for superb resonance, and easy palm muting.

The finish on this guitar is quite fragile, as it is unlaquered. if extreme care is taken, there is no reason it wont look like new for ever, but extreme care really is necessary, and just dropping a tuner on it from a few inches can cause a fair dint!!

The humbuckers sound superb for most effects that can be applied to them. however if you want to use overdrive with it then you will need to invest a fair amount of money in a decent pedal. Having tried several OD peedals with it the only one that sounds acceptable is BOSSs OD3, they do however sound good with distortion pedals.

however all in all it is superb

The finish of the guitar is very pleasing on the eyes, there is a small amount of stain on the edge of top of the fretboard, but most guitars will have a slight finish fault, even the most expensive ones.

The only other slight complaint is that the jack socket to connect it up is quite loose, and it would of been nice if they had fitted a slightly higher quality one, to overcome the problem.





This guitar is absolutely awesome for nearly all styles of music, I probably would not use it for really heavey metal, but if I'd wanted a heavey metal axe, i would nuy a bc rich...

Really well suited to light rock, but the pickups suit best funky rock.

all in all worth every penny, better to play than any gibson, or fender i've played on, and has alot of the great looks found in the more expensive PRSs, which will cost atleast 4 times as much.

This guitar plays really well, as do most guitars by PRS. It's a heavier guitar, not quite as heavy as a Les Paul but more weight than a Strat. The guitar feels and plays really well and isn't too difficult to move around. The guitar that I played was in great shape, stable, good action, and overall a comfortable instrument. Honestly though, I don't know if it's quite as comfortable as some nicer PRS's, which in my opinion, feel better than almost any electric guitar out there.


SOUNDS

This guitar, for some reason, doesn't seem real to me. By that I mean, I don't think that this is the actual guitar that Santana plays. I think that he endorsed this product purely for monetary reasons. PRS sells these for far cheaper than some of their other models, guitars which, in my opinion, are far superior.


OVERALL OPINION

This guitar, unlike most PRS's, isn't too expensive. I can't say I wouldn't recommend it to other people, especially since most of my peers wouldn't be able to buy a nicer PRS without some serious saving. However, I realized a long time ago that it would be worth it to eventually just buy a nicer one, it will pay off more in the long run. If it wasn't a PRS, and it didn't have Santana's name on it, I doubt I'd be so disappointed with it, which is why I'm giving it an overall high score. But it feels to me like PRS is putting out lesser instruments to increase their sales, and using Santana's name as a marketing ploy more than a sign of the instrument's quality.

First of all, this is a view following a test "flash".
I had to play the guitar about 20 minutes in all and for all (new acquisition of a mate)

Guitar solid body Les Paul type 2 horns (yes, finally wholesale)
Set Mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard 22 frets, mahogany body (no table raportée)
2 doubles, a Tune O Matic "ergonomic", 3 knobs (1 volume by micro, a common tone) 1 3 switch positions.

For specifications, ben a config classic accessories are so good no-name global 7 / 10

UTILIZATION

The handle ... ah the handle!
end (not as thin as the guitars of the same brand oriented Meral, but fine against a les paul, the heel is a treat, no gene for access to acute. I have a Start and an Epiphone les paul copy Nothing to see here the hand slides alone until the 22th case (there may be 25 or 26, it would not be more impressive !!!!! problem ...)
Really is a treat. The satin slips like a fart in an oilcloth. nothing to say.
I never felt at ease as quickly on a handle.

The overall ergonomics are well thought out. This is a guitar made to be played (and not so often)
The heel (see above) is sublime access.
The guitar, made of mahogany that is surprisingly light. well balanced.
The knobs are well placed, not directly under the micro bridge for example ... is no gene for palm muting ...
Also on the register "playability", tune o matic bridge is rounded, no annoying stops (unlike the Les Paul with which we are left with the brand of the bridge to life etched in the palm of the hand) ...
The strings pass through the table, ensuring a good sustain, it feels like guitar also not connected.

I note here ergonomics: 10/10

SOUNDS

So the test was very fast.
Overall I feel that the pickups (with a good output level, nothing to say on this side) a little fish in the accuracy of the sound. A longer test, but that's often the fault of the guitar input, mid-range (envrion 500)

I think the sound of the beautiful possibilities are constrained by these microphones. But it is a first impression - hot.

OVERALL OPINION

It must be perspective and compare what is comparable.
It's a guitar euors 500. For that price, it was a scratching at the ergonomics that I personally find almost perfect.
This is an extremely easy to play guitar (for beginners) and a guitar on which a more experienced guitarist just let go easily.

It gives me a great base to build up a very good scratch by adding two good microphones. To see the duration for holding the agreement (nut, mechanical, bridge) ...

Overall, if I had 450 to 500 euros)))

Super ergonomic, this guitar is lgre + Paisse even if some other Ibanez.
No problem of balance.
Dj acoustics, a sound. 1 X branch, the bridge bucker displayed a beautiful potato, one of the handle is too hot without drooling, and the combination of two splits the coils, giving a sound that evokes is not without a Telecaster. It's not tomorrow that I'll change the pickups ...
When he arrives in stores, the handle was too tightened => frisette all floors. The seller is Remde (Please Traxon Music Brussels!) And with 009-046n is done (you can attack without fear serious).

The SZ series is a variant of the famous Ibanez S series. Unlike the S series these guitars are not super thin. These guitars are nice and thick and are supposed to give you a more Gibson like tone but with the famous Ibanez playability. This guitar features a set mahogany neck in a mahogany body. It is a bare bones guitar that gets the job done. It has basic Duncan Design pickups made for Ibanez. It has a volume knob for each pickup and master tone knob with a 3 way selector switch. The bridge is a string through body design for more sustain and a little more brightness and clarity. It has Ibanez's Gibratlar 3 bridge which is a lot better than most tune-o-matic setups. The guitar has a 25.1 inch scale which is quite strange. I guess Ibanez was trying to get a balance between a Les Paul scale and the typical Fender scale they normally use. The guitar has 22 medium sized frets on a rosewood fretboard and the back of the neck has finish on it.

UTILIZATION

Ibanez prides themselves on the playability of their guitars and this guitar is no exception. The guitar barely has any neck joint heel to get in your way so the playability is a lot better than your typical Gibson set neck. The Gibralter 3 bridge is a very nice substitute to a typical tune-o-matic. The surface on the bridge is very smooth and does not have any sharp edges like a typical bridge. I could play this guitar for hours without getting a single scratch on my hand. The scale is slightly shorter than on most Ibanez guitars so the string tension is lower. This adds to the comfort of the guitar making it a breeze to play.

SOUNDS

This SZ is Ibanez's attempt to get more of a Gibson sound. The shorter scale is close to that of a Gibson and helps get the string tension lower to what you would expect on a Les Paul or SG. The guitar is made of mahogany to get you a good deep tone. The string through bridge helps balance out the dark mahogany by adding some brightness and clarity. The Duncan Design pickups add a good amount of bite and clarity to the tone also.

OVERALL OPINION

This guitar is Ibanez's answer to the people who say their guitars are too light and sound to thin. This Ibanez sounds thick and heavy and feels like a real piece of wood in your hand. Not many people play these models so you wont look like a poser and you will sound better than the people playing the popular models. This guitar is a bare bones stripped down rock machine. If you are a fan of Ibanez playability and want a slightly bigger sound this guitar is made for you.
