Have you experienced any incompatibilities?
No. TuxGuitar supports many format, so proprietary formats such as gpx.

The general configuration is easy?
Yes.

The manual is clear and sufficient? ...
The publisher's site has a very clear documentation online but in English.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

What is the configuration of your computer? (Motherboard / CPU / Ram / Disk / sound card ..)
Windows 7, i5 processor, 8 GB of ram.

The software works he correctly on this configuration?
Perfectly: no crashes, bugs or freeze.

What performance? (If quantifiable)
No worries to read music with a couple of track.

This software + hardware is stable?
Altogether.

OVERALL OPINION

How long have you use it?
About two years: I use to write all my own partitions to read, use of tabs collected on the net.

What is the particular feature you like best and least?
Plus:
- Free
- 100% functional
- All editing functions and notations as in Guitar Pro for € 60 less
- Streamlined interface thus saving time when editing
- Wide variety of instruments sounds quite credible
- Possibility to import / export twelve o'clock

The least:
- Unable to copy / paste between two different partitions
- Some keyboard shortcuts
- Few options of settings interface, keyboard shortcuts.


Have you tried many other models before buying it?
I had:
- Powertab: beautiful but very broken foot to use, which only supports the format and needs a converter to open the old file versions and sounds are very average (ptb). (Pob).
- GuitarPro which was identical to TuxGuitar for versions 3-5 and then came the gas plant version 6: heavy, rich sounds and interface levels but finally too rich to edit / write a simple tablature

How would you rate the quality / price?
Tuxguitar part of my top 5 freeware for music.

With experience, you do again this choice?
Without hesitation.

During my last shift PC, I passed under linux (opensuse distro) so not much choice but to find an alternative version with guitar pro.

installation and config fairly simple need to install the additional libraries, but nothing sorcerer (for a beginner Linux user)

OVERALL OPINION

used for 6 months

I had previously guitar pro 6 level graphics tuxguitar is much less pretty and more basic. The midi sounds are as ugly on guitar pro.

but more than enough for basic use (after to edit, create, edit partochs, I do not know)

free software for 100% free ... nothing to say

Mac OS X, just open the disk image tuxguitar, we find the application and it can be opened directly. No problems installing then. With a configuration Mac OS X 5 and higher, you should download the 64 bit version. The manual is in the form of web page. But the software is on the whole fairly simple to use.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

The software works well despite a few bugs that can sometimes make you lose unsaved data. So remember to save regularly! To close a document with unsaved data, do not use the dropdown menu and tuxguitar "tuxguitar leave" the program will close without saving your data. Click the close icon and it asks if you want to save your changes.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had several myself and I'm pretty satisfied. It is a good alternative to Guitar pro if you do not want to spend 50 euros.
