I have been playing guitar for as long as I dare to remember. Been a working musican for 10 years. I use vintage guitars from Fender and Gibson. I'm not a big fan of distortion. Country, jazz and blues is my cup of tea..

I bought it used at the local musicstore back in -97

I have always prefered the sound of 10" speakers, and if you got four of them in an openback combo, you will be heard on any stage. The clean sound is not as sweet and full of character as the old Bassman 59', but I've think that it makes the amp more versatile.

This amp is VERY heavy!
The drivechannel is useless!
(then again, I don't like distortion..)

My amp is over 12 years old and has never let me down and I use it every day! But I change the tubes once every other year and my guitartech treats it like a baby..

I have tried just about all 4/10" combos on the market. For a classic clean tone that is suitable for any situation this amplifier is as good as it gets for the money.

Bought second hand from a guitarist who had and was using live, both the 4x10 and 2x12. He sold me the 4x10 for £400 (~$600).
It sounded fantastic and I knew the moment I heard it that it was 'the clean sound' I was after. Previously used a Marshall VS100R which was not bad.

1. The fat clean sound - can't beat it.
2. The cool tweed/chrome retro look.
3. Classic, all valve Fender quality.
4. It is unquestionably THE blues amp.

Other than the valves (which cost a fortune if you get decent ones), it is difficult to service. It is heavy and just big enough to be a little awkward when climbing stairs etc.!

Excellent build quality. Preferred the old leather handle rather than the slightly cheesy plastic one, although it is very sturdy.

This really is the best blues/jazz amp around for the money. Larry Carlton and Robben Ford etc use Dumble amps which sound great, but not really that much better than the Blues Deville. I play a Tele and a 335 (copy) and both these guitars suit this amp completely - the fat clean sound from the semi is superb. I also use a GT3 effects unit which requires strange tone settings on a combo, but the Fender takes this in its stride also.

Wanted a tube amp : got it new for 1000
swiss francs ( ~600 $ )

Good FAT sound. Got clean/overdrive/more overdrive channels.
12 inches speakers = loud sound

you can't switch off the reverb with the foot switch,
so the reverb stays the same. I know that on older
models it was possible but the more overdrive channel
didn't exist.

Heavy (35 kilos) but solid construction.

Sure I wanted a tube amp: got what I expected.
Next one will be a Mesa Amp, Around the same
price but a lot smaller.

Great gear if you got place where to put it.

I bought this amp at a local music shop on sale for $650. I was looking for a cool tube amp and I loved the tweed finish on this bad boy.

First of all it sounds great. The clean channel is so sweet and bluesy. I play a Les Paul Standard and it is a great match for the tone of the amp. The drive channel is pretty good too if you mess with all of the knobs. Is definately not a heavy metal drive channel. The vintage tween finish is very cool looking!

I'd really like a bit more drive but that's not what this guy was made for and exactly what stop boxes were made for. It also weighs a TON!! It is VERY loud, to get some of the sweeter sounds you have to crank it up. People 3 states away...…

It is VERY loud, to get some of the sweeter sounds you have to crank it up. People 3 states away can hear it when you do that. I've never had it over 5 and it goes to 12.

This thing is SOLID. It had better be, it weighs over 70 pounds. It has faired very well with 5 years of use and little damage

I almost sold this for another amp with more kick-a distortion but I couldn't part with it. The clean channel is to die for. If you are looking for great looks and vintage bluesy sounds with enough power to peel paint off the walls, this is the amp for you.
