    Orange TH30 ComboPublished on 02/13/14 at 10:58
(This content has been automatically translated from French)
    All-tube amp, switchable 30 w 15 and 7 watts.
    2 channels (clean and dirty)

On clean: Volume + 2 equa bands (bass and treble)
On Dirty: Volume + function "shape" + Gain

    An effects loop
    HP Input 16 ohms 8 ohms + 2 more

Lamps power section: 4 EL84 (note that the amp is cathode-biased, so no need to adjust bias)
    Lamps preamp section: 4 + a 12AX7 12AT7 (effects loop)

A footswitch output (it is sold separately, which is a bit yucky anyway)

The cake: a G12H30 (12 ") The baffle is covered more than 50% and well protected lamps..

Finishes without being bad, are not magic either more. The buttons seem fragile.
You should know that this combo is assembled in China too.

    UTILIZATION

    Configuration = very simple.

We get a good sound easily.

The power of this combo is more than enough to use scene. 30 watt lamps, it is already very violent (except if you fill the Stade de France).
Being able to switch to 15 or 7 watts is convenient for home use, however, it's not worth a good master volume to me.
This "commutage" works well on the dirty channel but less on clean, which is more powerful.

    SOUNDS

The clean is good, in a rather fender mind.
The bass is very deep but I think this is also due to HP (the G12H30 is rather dark).
I regret that the equa is only 2 bands (although it works well)

For the dirty channel, we are still in a fairly modern mind. It is very oriented metal eventually, and it is in this style that is truly effective.
We regret that there is no reverb. For this price, it's a bit foutage of mouth.

To moderate its dirty, you can put a 5751 instead of December 1 AX7 in V1 and it works pretty good. Gain becomes more progressive and gains in precision and heat.

Regarding the Shape function dirty channel, I did not like. There is wholesale to dig mediums.
This system is too minimalist and not worth a good equa 3 bands.
I guess Orange wanted to please fans of plug 'but for others, it is quite appalling.

Whether on the clean channel or dirty, the sound is rather dynamic and slamming, which for me is a very good point.
It also complies with the instrument.

    OVERALL OPINION

The price quality ratio is improved. Especially the power section contains 4 lamps (count about 60-80 Euros budget during the change).
In secondhand, it is already more interesting.
I do not think I would do this choice because the distortion is more intended for mettaleux, while I am rocker. That is why I sold it.

That said, this combo is rather light (well for all lamps, whatever ^ ^) and very compact. This is one of its strong points.

From what I have read on the net, many users have a problem with the clean channel, which starts crachouiller and lose all his bass.
I had the same concern, except that it was just me lamps preamp that came at the end of the race. Changing them, no more problem.

Except that I came across a guy on an English forum where the origin of this problem was not the lamps, but the welds.
Indeed, the amp really hot (!) And there may be an incident on welds during intensive use.
Forum user in question has consolidated its welds itself and the problem disappeared.

    Interesting little amp

    Orange TH30 ComboPublished on 05/25/11 at 11:43
This is an unusual looking amp from Orange. Usually they have just the front of their combos with the speaker grille cloth and then the control panel on top. This has the control panel on the front as well as the speaker grille cloth. I had to take a double look at this to make sure it wasn't some random prototype Orange combo amp. However, the tone is killer!

    SOUNDS

The tone from this amp is just killer. This is a two channel amp with one somewhat clean channel and then an overdrive channel. The distinct Orange voicing is in this amp as well. The oh so familiar British tone but unique Orange voicing is just downright amazing.

One great tonal feature on this amp is the Mid sweep knob but as they like to call it the Dirty Shape control knob. This actually changes the midrange in the EQ section of the amp. As you take it all the way up it gives you a mid cut for modern or drop tuning music. You will need to play around with this control along with your standard EQing to get the desired overall tone for your particular guitar.

    OVERALL OPINION

At new these amps come in at around $1350, which may seem a bit on the high side. They are still UK made and they pack the punch that all the Orange amps are known for. The features are great with the power cut on the front as well as the tube cut on the back. Here you can really dial in the exact wattage and volume with these two features.

    2-channel amplifier with switchable 30W All Tube 15w 7w or (4 x ECC83 preamp =, = 4 x EL84 power, Effects loop = 1 x ECC81).

I also think it is important to note that the rear of the cabinet is closed to 2 / 3.

    Front:
    - Clean channel: Volume, Bass, Treble
    - Dirty Channel: Volume, Shape, Gain
    - Switch to toggle the mode HALF FULL POWER POWER (15w)

    Back:
    - Footswitch jack
    - Send / Return effect loop
    - HP Output: 1x16Ohm and 2x8Ohm
    - Switch to select if you use 4 or 2 power tubes. So if we use the HALF POWER mode (15w) and using only 2 power tubes when the amp is a power of about 7W. All right, this is really handy as needed (studio, rehearsal, concert, room ...) and type "body" you want for his sound.

    UTILIZATION

Configuration is very simple, it's plug and play. The "manual" will actually ..., 2 pages, but no longer needs.

    SOUNDS

The adjustments are very minimal. It is important to be aware that the quality of the guitar, microphones and the guitarist will play very important to the sound delivered by this amp. While it is always important to me tell you, but I think a little more here than elsewhere!

    CLEAN CHANNEL:
A real clean sound that can lead to cruncher slightly depending on volume.
With the knobs at 12 o'clock, all's well balanced. Free us to refine the bass and treble as desired.

    DIRTY CHANNEL:
Here, no EQ, but simply a knob shape above.
To oversimplify, the more you turn the volume pot "shape" to the right, the sound compresses and loses mediums. Thus obtaining more modern sounds and / or "easy" to play from that side. To me this is not my thing.
With the "Shape" at 12 o'clock, the sound is balanced and if one travels to the left we find more vintage sounds and good dynmique.
Concerning the gain, this amp has a big reserve. Like all amplifiers, avoid extreme settings on pain of having a horrible sound!

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 1 month.

Before you buy this combo I played on a Mesa / Boogie Dual Rectifier.
I also occasionally played on a lot of other amps: Marshall JCM2000 and 800, JVM, Laney VC30 and so on.

I think this amp will feel at him in many musical styles.
Regardless, it sounds really great, you do your part of the job!

    The pros:
    - Tone / Transparency
    - Switchable Power
    - Baffle closed to 2 / 3
    - Building strong enough
    - Value for money

    The -:
    - No footswitch included

    I would do this choice!
