    Peavey Prowler

Peavey ProwlerPublished on 09/17/04 at 15:00
I own a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 410, and I was looking for a smaller tube amp combo to use at home. I purchased the Peavey on Ebay for $185.00

I love this combo! The clean channel is crystal clear, bringing out the best from my Strat. The dirty channel will give you almost any level of "crunch" that you want, from SRV blues to the high gain of the old Sunn stacks. The Peavey has a two button footswitch, allowing me to go from clean, to crunch, and to more gain. The amp's drive settings sound better than using my Tubescreamer!

I guess the only thing that I would change is having the ability to turn the reverb on and off at the footswitch. Other than that, it is awesome!

It's a Peavey-built like a tank! It uses 2 6L6's and 4 12ax7's (same as my DeVille). Bases on my experience with other Peaveys that I've owned, I don't anticipate any problems with this amp.

These aren't made anymore, but are available on Ebay from time to time. I think it is one of the best amps I've owned.

    decent but not great

Peavey ProwlerPublished on 11/28/11 at 22:01
Peavey amplification is one of my favorite amplifier manufacture companies because they make very inexpensively priced amplifiers for the budget musician. They also make very good sounding amplifiers for hard rock metal players around. Many of the amplifiers have a nice gain and thick saturation structure that is very conducive to the hard rock and metal players. You're probably most known for their 5150 or 6505 amplifiers.

    UTILIZATION

This amplifier is basically a two channel amplifier that is 45 W of power. It is loaded with 6L6 power tubes which give it a nice top and bottom roundness which fills up the frequency spectrum a lot better than perhaps a EL 34 or EL84 power tubes. …

    UTILIZATION

This amplifier is basically a two channel amplifier that is 45 W of power. It is loaded with 6L6 power tubes which give it a nice top and bottom roundness which fills up the frequency spectrum a lot better than perhaps a EL 34 or EL84 power tubes. You do your normal three band EQ and that's pretty much about it as far as features go. It is a fairly simple amp that doesn't really stretch out of the norm.

    SOUNDS

For this amplifier is not that great as far as many Peavey amplifiers ago. It has a decent clean channel that has a bright switch but nothing to really write home about. It can get a fender type clean tone and it sounds pretty decent at practice situations. Again the lead channel will get you a little bit of overdriving gain but it's not that great compared many other amplifiers. All around it's probably about a $50 amplifier on the used section or in classifieds. For being an all tube amp it s a pretty decent little combo for the money.

    OVERALL OPINION

I would only recommend his amplifier for someone is looking for a very cheap and inexpensive all around practice amplifier. It's simply a single one 12 inch combo amplifier the features preamp tubes and power amp tubes and if you can get this amplifier for right around 50 bucks and you've done well. It is nice for the price for a beginner or practicing musician.

That says it all (with precision) by leej

J'apprcie switch to boost the distortion.

The black look is not fun trs my taste (the classic is 30 + + vintage)

    UTILIZATION

The amp is very simple to use.

With a stratovolcano, the sound is pro trs.

As Leej, I also say that one should not use a rack because the sound effect is dnatur.

I use: Ibanez DE7 Delay + Chorus + Boss Boss Disto
(See trs beautiful site of my group http://blue.berrys.free.fr/)

    SOUNDS

Hardos, go your way, it's not a Marshall.

Blues / Pop => great with a stratospheric playing for Clapton or Stevie Ray Vaughan.

    The reverb is nice also.

For the price, it is the maximum.

Above, there is Mesa Boogie, but it is expensive and + + + + + + heavy (& my back is fragile)

And you think the public will see he (or plutt hear he) a Difference??

    OVERALL OPINION

    I have 4 years.

    It is reliable.

    Report qualitprix unbeatable.

Well to repeat Trs & clubs.

Trs good sound with a stratovolcano.

=> Ca OCCAZ of TRS can be a good deal.
