My config: Laptop Presario 1515 / P4 2.4 GHz / 512 RAM / XPhome
I wanted a card with no problem, with a full range of I / O and analog numriques, to make my portable studio less than 500EUR
The connection of the UA5 is super complete, nothing to say! Top direct monitoring!
The converters are super good, in and out.
The microphone gain is correct, but not standard enough. The case is nice and solid.
It lacks the "battery compartment" and it would be perfect.
WARNING! The I / O is numrique resample! So the UA5 can not make VST-LINK! it's not real bit to bit.
UTILIZATION
Installation pnible: what is it that DLIR to have to change modes (simple and advanced along the way. Souk is a real set!
The manual is quite readable and the "troubleshooting" rprsente the 2 / 3 of the manual ... inquitant!
In short, endless problems to configure, loss of drivers in redmarrage etc ... taking the real short head, I lost about 3 days in all.
Can not completely uninstall ASIO drivers without typing in the Registry System.
It's really DIY.
GETTING STARTED
My USB chipset (NEC) works apparently not well with the UA5 trs. Cd audio in and out, but there are clicks and pops impvisibles continuously, input and output. With standard buffers it gets better but still has y '. Apparently a lot of people have this type of problem.
For example, the sound is impeccable voice into an outlet for 300ms, and then hop in wavelab we see a transition from a half waveform 0dB, like that, without prvenir. Wavelab function analysis is to identify dgradations signal.
OVERALL OPINION
Returned to the store five days later. Not enough pro. Too bad the connection is top, the great features, but overall not strong enough for me. I will still not mastered my titles in 24 bits / 96 kHz with crackling noise like "old vinyl" on my sound card! Hahaha!
So I upgrade on a VXpocket Digigram v2 (too bad for optics and 48 V) - more expensive: and no 580th 96kHz - but at least it runs really!
