    Samson Technologies G-TrackPublished on 01/20/09 at 09:35
(This content has been automatically translated from French)
The G-track is a condenser microphone condenser, which does not ncessite preamp. It is powered via the USB port. It is generally used exclusively connected to a computer, where it is DTECT as a sound card.
It is hypercardiode, and thus indicated for the management of its proximity. Singing, instrument.

    OVERALL OPINION

    - How long have you use it?
I use it for five days.

    - What is the particular feature you like best and least?
I like the quality of sound recorded being able to do without a power supply fantme, the quality of construction of the object, the possibility of having a direct monitoring without latency, the small diode Green turning red when the sound saturates…

I do not like the quality of the headphones (and with low background noise foul), a trslger background noise (inaudible in a mix or a small noise gate), the non-recognition of micro for cubase, unless you use ASIO4ALL (which complicates operations), the latency (the ladle 20 ms) if decides not to use the direct monitoring, which is tempting given the quality of the headphones.
    - Have you tried many other models before acqurir?
    This is the first.
    - How do you report qualitprix?
    Trs good.
    - With the exprience, you do again this choice? ...
Yes, but to use direct monitoring ncessitant prcis I deprecated. Or you go through your sound card and you must support the latency,
or you go through the microphone, but you must bear the sound quality mdiocre.
Remains that, whatever the mthode chosen, the final result is impeccable.

    A serious USB mic

    Samson Technologies G-TrackPublished on 05/31/11 at 12:06
USB mics have been mostly ignored by established studios. Many of them are considered toys or something an amateur would use. The Samson G-Track is trying to change that perception. The G-Track has a large diaphram condenser that that has a 19mm capsule and a supercardioid pickup pattern. Because of the supercardioid design the mic does not pickup sounds from the side so this is ideal if you are using it next to a computer. The construction is heavy and strong and it has plug and play operation across operating system platforms. It has a volume control that changes the monitor volume. Because of the supercardioid design the mic does not pickup sounds from the side so this is ideal if you are using it next to a computer. The construction is heavy and strong and it has plug and play operation across operating system platforms. It has a volume control that changes the monitor volume. Below that that is the instrument knob which controls the input level and finally a mic level. It can handle moo or stereo instrument line inputs by the switch on the body of the mic. It has line inputs with monitoring and level controls. The onboard stereo head phone jack lets you monitor directly from the mic or you can use it with a set of speakers. It's USB connection is where you would find an XLR jack on most microphones. It takes some software tweaking to get the best sound from this microphone. Without tweaking you can get some strange background noise in your recordings.

    OVERALL OPINION

This mic is good for quick recordings when you need to get an idea down. With tweaking and smart use you can get a professional sound from the G-Track. This is probably the best USB condensor mic on the market and can be a good start to your computer based recording studio.
