My name is Rob Dewar, and I am a lifer in the music and technical fields of the entertainment industry. I began by learning piano at age six, but when my teacher didn't reappear in the third year, I taught myself guitar, and went on to become a performer, instructor, recording artist and touring musician on acoustic and electric guitar in the realms of jazz, Latin, rock and fusion, almost entirely under my own self-guidance. On the technical side, I began assisting the crew and engineers at my high school music teacher's gigs at age 13, attended audio engineering school at age 18, and joined a touring group as their engineer right out of school... pushed into the pool. Later, I took over a recording studio and ran my own commercial space, eventually dropping my location and becoming a "Ninja engineer", working on location, in other studios and in client's homes, using a laptop and some high-end digital and analogue audio tools. Over the years, I have honed my skills in other areas, too, becoming an expert synthesizer programmer and designer, writing and delivering college audio, psychoacoustics and production courses, and writing a few handbooks and owner's manuals for various clients. I currently work as an audio engineer, musician, and a consultant in the pro recording, post and home cinema fields, through my firm, Rock Shop Pro Audio.
