Korg Triton 61Published on 02/27/09 at 10:30
The Korg Triton is a digital keyboard workstation that has preset sounds for just about every keyboard based instrument you can think of. It has the ability to record and also has two pitch benders that are each in different form. It has a 1/4 inch output to send this to an amp, and it also has a 1/4 inch out for sustain as well as a number of other outputs for various applications.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the Triton is pretty easy to follow, but there are a lot of different things to learn about using the Triton and can take a while to figure out all the ins and outs of this powerful workstation. This being said, it is quite easy to pick between the many traditional sounds as the interface of the screen is easy to figure out. The manual is sufficient and is helpful when learning the Korg Triton.

SOUNDS

The sounds form the Triton are varied and are great for all types of music. It has your traditional sounds like different pianos and organs as well as a ton of different synth and pad sounds. All of the sounds are realistic and all sound pretty awesome to me. The Triton has a reputation for having a sound bank of great sounds.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Korg Triton for about three years and I have found it to be a great overall keyboard for both live and studio use. I would compare this to a Yamaha Motif, but it is hard to choose one or the other as they are both full in what they can do. I love the sounds the Triton has and it is pretty easy to use overall. The price is about right for a workstation of this type, and is probably not for the beginner because of this price. Overall, for the experienced keyboard player who wants a ton of sounds in one place this is absolutely worth a look.

I did a lot of research by reading tons of reviews and specs before I purchased it. I knew what I was getting. Still somethings impressed me more then I expected, and again other things I was more disappointed in than expected. Overall Im extremely happy with the features.

Price paid

$1,400

UTILIZATION

Sequencer is incredibly easy to use. The most difficult thing about using the triton is learning how everything is set up. It is set up differently than other workstations that I've been using for years (ASR 10 & MPC 2000). But once you get the concepts of drum kits, programs, combis, sequencer, etc, down, things run very smoothly

I bought it used. Everything seems good. No complaints...…

SOUNDS

Sounds great. Presets are alot better than imagined. The sampling engine sounds great. Nice and clean, and can still grimey it up if need be. I think the effects are decent, could be better, and it could with out doubt use a "re-sample with effects" feature (like the Triton Studio or ASR 10).

OVERALL OPINION

Im still learning it. So it will be a while before I can move to the love stage. I can see myself down the line loving this piece, but not until after I know it like the back of my hand (like my ASR 10). Once I get to the point where I dont need to consult the manual, or even think about what I have to do for a specific result, then I think I could learn to love it.

OVERALL OPINION

The Triton is a very multi-purpose machine independent. The sounds are exciting, all made in the coup, trs Varis, good dynamic. My only complaint: too low but is the qualiseur to satisfy me. There is even in a good squenceur. We can do all styles of music (hint: Listen to the DMOS directly to the headphone on the machine, no need to amp!). Arpgiateur pushed enough but be careful this is an arranger: your squence, we must make A Z (drums, bass, vocals etc. ...). Its weak point is the part that takes more sampling of the gadget. Ok you can sing (that 48 KHz) CRER of multisamples (good luck because it's more complicated than a K 2000) put effects, time stretch but still a little luxury for the worstation name. As for buying a triton studio (for the direct to disk), personal, I prfre my config Triton D + 12. Good buy.

Good ergonomics, excellent touch screen, touch keyboard okay
Easy to use, fairly intuitive at first, but if you want to dig a little and do the modeling, it becomes cotton.
The effects are very good.

UTILIZATION

Editing sounds not bad, but still a bit heavy in spite of the large touchscreen.
Arpégiatteurs impeccable.
The manual is fairly complete and well done for.

SOUNDS

The sounds are pretty standard but MUST THE (OPTIONAL) MOSS IS THE CARD: A MUST! (But expensive).
It is the sound card that I use as Moss.
While in the line of Korg, ie for sounds "synthetic" is very good, but the piano or guitar is still low, each his specialty ....

OVERALL OPINION

I have 2 years and I can not get enough (especially sound card MOSS)
Thank God for the touch screen, if not with the range of possibilities it would be impossible to cope. A good ergonomic level.
Price / quality ratio correct (except the map MOSS: too expensive)
MIDI implementation impeccable.
