    great board

    Roland Fantom-S 61Published on 11/27/11 at 22:44
The Roland Fantom s61 has 61 beautiful semi weighted keys. It also has a big screen so you can work in song mode to create your whole song right on board without having to transfer files and .wavs somewhere else. You can even master right in the Fantom 61. Its an all in one board to take care of the whole musical process.

    UTILIZATION

The craftsmanship is incredible, .pretty solid/heavy keyboard feels very sturdy not so delicate like the Triton. This is the best thing that I've ever bought in my life!!! At least musically anyway. If I had to give everything else up my PC, software, mixer, speakers, mics, processors, etc. I would definitely keep the Fantom and start over with everyth…

At least musically anyway. If I had to give everything else up my PC, software, mixer, speakers, mics, processors, etc. I would definitely keep the Fantom and start over with everything else! It really is the heart and soul of my studio!

    SOUNDS

The overall sound quality is superior! Especially the guitars, and synth sounds. Roland always does a great job on creating warm and realistic sounds. I have only had this board for a week, but I really can't complain about any of the sounds. I've worked with several workstations, and the factory drum sounds are some of the best that I've heard. The drum kits are very nicely laid out.(Of course if you want the cutting-edge percussion. well that's where sampling comes in) The Fantom even comes with mastering effects including compression and eq!

    OVERALL OPINION

Overall, The Fantom is easy to start with right out the box you will have no problems setting it up. But in order to know what's really going on, and capture all of it...I really suggest checking out the manual. If only for reference every now and then, reading the manual and not strictly playing everything by ear will help you to understand how the Fantom and operates. Overall the user interface is very friendly for anyone who understands the basic makeup of workstations/synths.

If I like the usual Worstations Kurzweil and Yamaha (it is true that Roland only interested in a consumer market with its series XP), this time the Asian manufacturer has developed a real specification with excellent management CRM (Customer Relation ship Management) which allows us to know or understand the intrinsic desires of musicians "keyboards". Morality, we are left with a powerful music production station, complete a Sampler imposing and integrating Vari-Phrase and a management interface to increment samples and MIDI type RS7000 Yam ... and using a work surface such MPC Ak ... What revolutionize the concept of Speed program.

Workstation keyboards Roland Fantom-S is a complete and integrated solution for professional music production. Both models (Fantom-S - 61 keys, and Fantom-S88 - 88 keys) are characterized as one another by a seamless integration of audio and MIDI and a set of unique features such as time compression real-time (time stretching) or capture repetitive samples (Skip Back Sampling). Their pad pads dynamics allows to organize and trigger events just audio while a set of new sounds, opportunities for mastering and direct exchange of files via USB keyboards give the ability to move your pieces from conception until they are finalized.

    UTILIZATION

Regarding ergonomics, the Fantom-S showed a lot of interesting menus for the user, the concept of real-time Sampling of the closure on the pads deserves a grip but everything is done. Editing the sounds is simple but it was not on it that I most looked. In fact I consider the Fantom-S as a master keyboard and I used it well in the middle of a Motif rack module and an E6400 Ultra Sampler controllers and all the Fantom S played the finger and the eye on the different machines MIDI. The contrire would have been surprising, but a check s'ilmposait.

    SOUNDS

Sophisticated music production studio 61 keys
Seamless integration of audio and MIDI using ROM waveforms and sampling "time stretching"
New "Skip Back Sampling" for continuous sampling!
Pad 16 dynamic pads for the instantaneous trip and sensitive samples
USB port for the exchange of WAV / AIFF files with a PC or a Mac
Patches and Rhythm Sets included in an entirely new ROM 64 MB of waveforms
32 MB of RAM (expandable to 160MB) for sampling with compatible WAV / AIFF
16 MB of flash RAM for direct access to favorites and optional storage card SmartMedia
3 multi-effects processors more reverb and chorus and a new dedicated mastering processor
Expansion capabilities of up to four optional SRX-Series
4 line outputs (2 stereo or 4 mono), stereo line-level input and digital output 24-bit S / PDIF.
On sound banks, I just wish the quality of sets of strings and Solis who are not up to the rest. Drum kits also are a bit sluggish, but everything changes ...

    OVERALL OPINION

In fact curiously, the Fantom-S is really appealing to his master keyboard features comprehensive and integrated module Sampler. (At 06/17/03) A general note on the keyboard back today with the new program to discover in the Banks' Factoty "are worked ... to follow

Why disappointed? not that the sound is bad, but the evolution between the generation and XP50 fantom is minimal in small! I make the comparison with the Korg Triton, and again I know what I mean to have had the full range (M1, 01w, Trinity, Triton ).... and now I am a faithful Korg too! ;-))
And although the sounds of the ghosts are really no better than the XP50 / 80! it looks the same! and for the price it costs, and although it's super disappointing! this account, I strongly advice to keep his or XP50 JV1080 ...... a guy who knows not much range for Roland Fantom can crack, it makes sense ..... but this much we know qd brand, and although there is now little progress ....

By Trintity and cons between a Triton, it's not the same story ....... and what's the Triton! So to all those who still hesitate between the two bikes, I slice literally Triton !!!!!!! (And yet I Necora once said, I love Roland)

Here you soon ...... ls zycos!

ps: my rating 2 / 10 does not match the sound quality itself, but the evolution over its Roland synths before ....

Roland as usual is full of Trs: Midi, Memory, USB, including a number of output optical etc ... The Fatoma Done trs-s solid metal hardware and protective glass on the screen.
In short everything you would expect from a little Workstation today with the addition of strong practice pads and the possibility of adding up to four expansion cards. Nothing wrong.

    UTILIZATION

Indniablement the highlight of the Fantom-S. As I said above: the pads handy for better ergonomics. A large color display and a user-friendly menu navigation simple and intuitive. SOUNDS

The sound is rich enough to care ruffed a lifetime. The sounds of plants are really good but of course they prennet full extent when couples and the changes are for ditent taste. Pianos, Violins, Pads, Brass, FX are really great and the instruments are in the average winds and strings. The Chorus, Reverb and Echo are well made and trs Sampling impeccable. I'm really not, it is necessary to bone up against in order to reach its goals;) The effects are fully configurable and good quality not to mention the Skip Back Sampling function very useful and small D Beam gadjet friendly.

    OVERALL OPINION

My advice is simple: The Fantom-S completely conquered me I use it for 1 year now and I am discovering every day new things. The patch editor is one of the most powerful I've seen without complicated. It is a versatile keyboard trs and the more of the mouth. Since I add 2 expansion cards for more sounds and I took a walk with immense (the effects are stunning). I frequently use on scne and I do not complain. If c'tait again today, I would do without hsiter.Merci Roland.

The CHARACTERISTICS this workstation are INTERESTED trs and complements my opinion.
I just find the keyboard a bit noisy but hey it's a small dtail.

    UTILIZATION

Use of this bcanne is relatively simple despite the complexity of available CHARACTERISTICS.
Trs full manual, the many buttons on the front and the large LCD screen can easily accder various functions.
The manual is clear trs, as usual with Roland.

    SOUNDS

The sounds are perfect for my workstation.
The piano acc. are good but not worth that of the EX-A90 or RD600. They are all fawn better than those of Triton are trsdcevants. The sounds of Rhodes and Hammond are nice Wurli.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 6 months and I am satisfied with TRS.
I love the Aesthetics of the keyboard.
I find this BCAN trsrussie and really usable.
I find this keyboard a bit expensive but I got good competition is not better ...
I tried the Triton and I t dgout by the piano sounds are not enough practitioner.
If I had a workstation rinvestir I will take it and then the Fantom X6 can be.

I am more than satisfied with the features of the Fantom-S!!! Where can I start...I could talk about everything from the Sequencer to the Velocity Sensitive Pads, but I'll comment on the most innovative feature of them all, which is the Continuous Sampler. At my studio we "play" around alot, and the have been many times when I can't remember what I just did...so the sample playback feature is a Godsend!!! OH...I forgot about the USB capability! Maybe that's the most innovative thing about the Fantom. The fact that you can drag and drop files from the computer to the keyboard is sickening!!!!

The pads were a real selling point for me. As well as the skip-back sampling.

    $2195 CND

    UTILIZATION

I made a beat in about 20min after setting up my fantom. Super easy to use and play on. Easy to sequence songs as well.

Are u kidding me??? The keyboard is a polished steel. The board is pretty much bullet proof.

    SOUNDS

The sounds are great. Awesome pianos and pads. Super basses and guitars. Just a killer all around sound. Plus all sounds are easily edited to your own creation.

    OVERALL OPINION

With all the cool features and awesome sound, I cant live without my Fantom-S!!!
