great busking amp!

I use this for busking, it is small and not very heavy but yet puts out plenty of sound, and the reverb is cool.

Great Gear

I purchased this primarily for an outdoor portable speaker and it does that job really well. Plenty of volume and great sound, strong highs and mid bass, not much sub bass, but that is to be expected. The biggest thing i love is the XLR/mic inputs. We used it to pair via bluetooth with a laptop to do karaoke and it worked great, they should advertises this use, it adds tons of extra value. I also really appreciated Sweetwaters customer service, I heard it was top notch and they proved it. This was my first Sweetwater purchase and it wont be my last.

Way More Powerful than they Look

Okay, so I have to second Melissa's experience with turning it on and not being able to get any of the channels to work out of the box. I eventually connected my phone to it, and opened the Freeplay Connect app. My channels were muted. I unmuted them, and got mic feedback. Unlike Melissa, I'm pretty sure I blew one of the speakers before I could get everything shut down again. I felt pretty dumb afterwards. But I contacted Sweetwater explaining what happened and asked about repairs. They simply replaced the speaker as soon as my damaged one was scanned in and shipped. It worked great, and I knew better how to get things up and running. I was super impressed with Sweetwater's response.

Most of Mackie's instructions were just fine, but the way it was described, you shouldn't have needed to connect your phone to control the speaker/unmute channels, so I do think there could be some improvement there from Mackie...

BUT The speaker is amazing. I bought a second one. I use them all the time. They are great for parties and gatherings. If you have them bluetooth linked, connected, and playing music at full-blast for 3 hours, you'll only get three hours out of them (borrowed them to a friend for a community event, and he said that's as far as they made it (which was more than enough) but that he had been operating pretty much every feature at full blast), but personally, I perform with my guitar and a microphone, and have never run them out of battery even after over six hours of use with bluetooth. I've played outdoors in crowds of about 30 people and had PLENTY of volume, even from a distance of about 50 feet or so from the crowd in the first place.

I have hooked up my keyboard, guitar, and microphones, or phone music through bluetooth, also used wireless mics once, and everything sounds great. They have a nice reverb effect that you can turn on and off and adjust for any channel, and the FreePlay connect app provides tons of convenient control including EQ for both channels.

I love my FreePlay live speakers, and even when I buy a big PA system, I will be keeping these. They work so well for so many occasions and are so portable and easy to use. The sound quality is AMAZING. I borrow them out to people who are used to working with full-blown PA systems because they don't want to haul the whole thing to a small event. People raise an eyebrow at me when they see them. I plug in a mic and hook up the bluetooth, we crank it up a bit, and their doubts disappear. I'm pretty sure I've sold a few people on these speakers just by letting them borrow mine.

Well worth the money!

And purchase from Sweetwater (unless you're lucky enough to snag a GREAT deal on a used one in good shape, you won't get a better deal)! They have EXCELLENT support.

It's all that.

I play several woodwind controllers and recently bought a Roland hand drum unit. The Macke Freeplay lasts longer than I do in gigs. It is pure (doesn't color the sound like a guitar amp) and the app control is great. I use a wireless transmitter/receiver for additional untethered flexibility. Loud enough for a coffee house / church /backyard gig. I have no regrets about the purchase.
