Takamine EG530SC

Takamine EG530SCPublished on 02/18/08 at 15:00
I have played guitar for 15 years. I have been playing in a cover band for the last 4 years. We play mostly rock, but a few tunes that suit a nice acoustic guitar.

I bought my Takamine EG530SC from Townsend Strings and Tings in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. I paid about $800 for it.

The guitar had a good sound and the electronics, when they worked, put a great acoustic sound through the speakers.

It was probably the worst guitar I've ever picked up in terms of playability. The action was terrible and couldn't be fixed by anyone I hired.

I had a lot of trouble trying to get the guitar set up properly. The action was terrible and I was unable to find anyone who could fix it. It also came damaged from the factory (oe the store) The volume knob on the preamp needed a sodering job within a few weeks and the back braces inside the body at some point between the factory and me came unglued and were reglued by someone who had no clue what they were doing.

I was mostly disappointed with the fact that Takamine was a name that I once trusted, but their complete denial of any problems and their refusal to do anything about the piece of garbage they sold me made me change my opinion of them.

I got it at Guitar Center for $450 + hard case (included for free). Haven't picked up the guitar for over three years, and wanted to get back into it. I usually play electric, but always wanted a nice accoustic-electric. This one was by far the nicest of the ones I tried for less than $1000.

Love the lows! Nice, smooth neck and great, bright sound. Preamp with tuner is cool, though it doesn't really go out of tune too much--nice for non-standard tuning since the tuner is chromatic. Awesome full body sound, and, oh did I mention that it sounds amazing? Haven't played too much plugged in, but tried it at the store and sounded sweet.

I can't think of much--the adhesive holding the wires to the pickup inside the body came loose a few times, which caused the wires to hang freely inside the body of the guitar. I firmly stuck it back to the inside wall of the guitar and it hasn't come loose since. It is also a bit large. Since I am used to an electric, it took a few days to get used to its girth, but since it sounds so damn good (probably because of the size) I don't consider it a flaw at all.

The workmanship is beautiful. The materials are excellent and it is very solid.

If you are still reading this, then you should stop now and just go buy one. I tried many other guitars, including Ovation, Gibson, Fender, Ibanez and others. Takamine stood out with it's full sound and easy playability. For the price, you can't do better.

Bought this accoustic/electric from Music123.com for $419 including Takamine custom fit hard case. This was the best deal I could find on the web. Other sites had the same package formore than $500.

This guitar sounds great plugged into an amp (I also purchased an Ibanez 10 watt amp)or when unplugged. I've only been playing for a year and 1/2, but even I can tell a major difference in sound quality of this guitar and other I heard in this price range.

Haven't found any dislikes thus far.

Takamine did not take any shotcuts on quality with this unit. The hard shell case fits the guitar very snuggly, no movement in case what-so-ever.

As you can tell I'm very happy with this purchase....…

As you can tell I'm very happy with this purchase. My wife, who used to complain about the noise when I played, now seems to want me to play more.

SOUNDS

-My style is quite sound and the time since I played on an old piphone a bit rotten, but I'd pay more than the takamine, I do not regret my purchase.
-I do not play on an amp or whatever, I connect directly to DI, the guitar in it even with his prampli not asking much. The prampli dlivre a good trs output gain.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 5 years
-Plus, this action is low without frissage
The more-is prmpli a simple, complete and gives the sauce.
-The most is a deep body that gives gives gives
The least-is that a redundant set of t cot for us given the bulk (short what we are interested!)
"I tried many guitars and even the guitars rev up prices, I return the takamine that sounds great.
Quality-price report, please contact me if you find a better
-Looking back, I bought your eyes closed
