    Fabulous!

Moog Music Minimoog Voyager Rack Mount EditionPublished on 09/23/14 at 09:48
    Subtractive synthesis
    Irreproachable manufacturing quality!
    Hyper-responsive MIDI
    No effects
    6 soundbanks + 1 user bank
On the rack version there's a switch on the rear to change to balanced level with a 600-ohm impedance, which is indispensable for consoles or to go directly into a converter!
The panel lights up blue for live performances...Wow, it's simply perfect. When the luminosity is set to max you can hear some noise. It's the same with all Voyagers, so it's a defect, but it's not really annoying.

    UTILIZATION

There's an excellent plug-in to integrate the Moog with a DAW (soundtower plugSE). It's absolutely awesome. All synths nowadays should have a control VST. Bye-bye…

    UTILIZATION

There's an excellent plug-in to integrate the Moog with a DAW (soundtower plugSE). It's absolutely awesome. All synths nowadays should have a control VST. Bye-bye to having to look up in the user manuals the CC numbers, or to configure every control by hand. automation has become child's play and the curves are displayed with their own names! You can record anything you want be it with a mouse, a controller or, preferably, with the Moog! Even the presets are saved with the DAW files! What else could you ask for? The best of both worlds combined.
It's perfect for a standalone application, live, for example. There's almost 1 control per function. By the way, the controls are big, solid and feel nice to the touch.

    SOUNDS

The sound is incredible, it rocks! It's round, fat, powerful, clear, and even moving! The basses and sub are wonderful! I don't use it that much for leads, but you can certainly find something that pleases you among the 6 original banks of 128 sounds (plus a User bank, because it's a treat to dig into the synthesis of the Moog to create your own sounds).!
There are enough modulation possibilities to make the filter howl.
If you reduce the envelopes to the minimum on certain bass sounds, the result is awesome, I think that's one of the differences between the plug-in and the TRUE Moog.
    etc etc

    OVERALL OPINION

To mention some minor defects, personally, I think the update is a bit bizarre.
It might lack an entire arpeggiator, since it's a mono synth, it would've been perfect. And the cherry on the cake would be a built-in analog delay!
This synth is expensive (although secondhand not so much), but I for one do not regret my purchase in any way!

The Moog Minimoog Voyager is a rack mount Analog synth that will take up more than one rack space/unit if you want to rack it. Or you can use it just on a desktop or workspace and it will be fine. If you have been in search of an analog synth that can do anything your brain can think up, then look no farther. The Moog Minimoog Voyager can do it all, it has over 120 presets with 3 oscillators. It does support MIDI in and out as well as some analog envelope generators. So plug up your MIDI keyboard and let your imagination run wild with the Moog Minimoog Voyager.

    UTILIZATION

You really cannot expect to edit sounds any easier than you can on the Moog Minimoog Voyager. There are so many knobs and parameters to mess with you could spend hours just on one preset by tweaking different ways each time. The great thing is that you don’t have to be a sound designer to understand the Moog Minimoog Voyager or to use it. If you are a sound designer than you will be right at home with this analog synth.

    SOUNDS

Editing all of your sounds is simple and the manual is easy to understand. Setting up the Moog Minimoog Voyager does not require anything in particular, you will just need to have all of your connections right like your MIDI controller to play the sounds, and then your audio out going into your sound card, interface, or external speakers.

    OVERALL OPINION

All of the sounds are thick and full, add some effects to them and it is perfect for electronic music. If you are looking for that classic moog sound, then this will give it too you. Put those “moog” VST synths to rest and work with a real model. The Moog Minimoog Voyager can do it all, and it will last a long time. The unit is well made and has a solid structure.

    My first "real" synth.

    SOUNDS

The sound!! The sound and still sound!

Equally suited to any type of electronic music (electro, techno, industrial, dubstep, synth pop, hip hop, rnb etc.. Etc..) Projects as experimental jazz or progressive rock. In fact, the Minimoog is a real musical instrument that awaits your creativity to include it in your music.

The sound of the Minimoog is simply enormous. You caress the ears in the treble, there is a density and incredible depth in the bass. Even the effects of modulation LFO driven into extreme limits, which in most digital synthesizer or virtual would not fail to sound aggressive here sound "musical".

The sound! And yet the sound!

    OVERALL OPINION

I purchased a month ago and I keep practicing the instrument. It's simple, I have produced the slightest piece last month. I can not stop playing with my Moog and I do not feel any frustration. I kindles virtually no computer in my home studio. I spend all my time playing with my Moog. I really like.

Someone on one forum for this site was signed "This is not the Minimoog which talent", and it is true that this is not the piano that made the pianist. But cons, the Minimoog is calling you. I never practice as a synthesizer in my life. I hardly play the piano for a month. And to go back to what I mentioned above, by dint of training and practice, I still think the talent is beginning to point the tip of his nose. It's simple, I have all emulations available as the Minimoog Arturia, Spectrasonics Trilogy, IK SampleMoog, etc.. If I have often used these plug-in in my productions, I never played with them over 15 minutes or two days to follow. With the Minimoog, I'm more than that. And this is really symptomatic of the quality of this instrument.

I have two other monophonic analog, a Novation BassStation and a CIO Mopho. If Mopho indégnables has qualities, it is much more "harsh" as the Moog, and the filter does not happen at the ankle. I also own a Korg MinKorg XL. Then, it is surely also a matter of taste. We like it or not the Moog sound, this is personally my favorite and I'm really used with the Minimoog that outperforms all my other synths.

What I like most? The sound very sure, the biggest of its synthetic analogue which I faced, but also the excellent craftsmanship of this instrument, it's solid, with a look that is both vintage and futuristic. The knobs are of superior quality, probably the best on the market. I also like the idea that Moog is expensible and can become a true semi-modular. I am thinking of completing my colllection MoogerFooger and connect everything together in the future.

The price / quality ratio is definitely not as good as his new little brother louse Slim Phatty I think I would buy if I had less money. But what value for money, in view of the excellent craftsmanship of the instrument is quite hpnnête. It's expensive, certainly, but upon reflection, when I think of all that I spent in my life cheaper alternative (notably plug-in AU / VST), I tell myself that I should save money and make the purchase much faster in my musical career. Nothing can rival the sound of the Minimoog emulation on Moog. And it is playing with him that we realize the power of marketing that you managed to sell AU / VST as an emulation of the real instrument complies. Nothing to see!

With experience, I would do what choice I already regret not doing earlier in my life.

I think all too often, the instruments are overpriced on this website or in magazines. But I would put 10/10.

    Value for money: 8 / 10
    Invoice (build quality): 10/10
    Ease of Use: 9 / 10
    Versatility: 9 / 10
    Results: 10/10

What I like least? I have not found it yet.

-monophonic (one note at a time) analog synthesizer.
    -six octave steps.
-Audio out right and left (mono), ext in, filter audio in, Midi (in,thru, out), two standard male DB-25 connector.
-Bank with 128 presets, entire banks or individual presets may be uploaded and downloaded via MIDI (through Mac/PC).

    UTILIZATION

When you know how to use synthesis, you take the moog immediately in hand. Otherwise some hours are needed, but the textbook (in English) is very well made!

    SOUNDS

I compose electro-house music, I do not think that there's a better synth for this music type. Sounds make me cry. I have a virus which however is a good synth but there frankly, the moog surpasses it !…

I compose electro-house music, I do not think that there's a better synth for this music type. Sounds make me cry. I have a virus which however is a good synth but there frankly, the moog surpasses it ! There's only filters effects, which are very goods (moog filters...)

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for one month.
It is unconvincing. I have a virus which can't hold a candle to it but I keep it because it has portrayed well tones which I like and which supplement the moog well.
When you hear the sound, you don't find it expensive.
I would make this choice again!!!
