The Moog Music Prodigy is one of the more lower end versions from Moog, and it has spread widely because of how good it sounds and its very affordable and compact enough to move around with you if you need to. I use this as just a sound module and can get some really cool stuff whe messing with some of the options that I comes with. You will have to use this as a sound module like I do, there are no on board sequencers so you wont be able to make any type of patterns. So the only uses would be for a sound module or for live performance or just messing around. This came out in 1979 and people are still purchasing it today, that says a lot about Moog, and how they continue to stay relevant and dominate. There is nothing like a Moog and this is just the entry level one but still has a great sound and you will love it.


UTILIZATION

Very easy to use, with no extra knobs and no sequencing everything is just about the sound which is just how I like it. Makes it a lot easier not having to worry about the other stuff like arpeggiators or modulation. This is a very easy to use device that is 32 to keys and will give you no problems using.


SOUNDS

The sounds are great, not the best moog sounding board bu what do you expect for the price. You will still get a Moog.


OVERALL OPINION

Simple looking machine with a big sound, it’s a great way to start to understand analog sounds and vintage machines. This could be great for your if you are looking for your firt vintage piece of gear, its small enough to learn on so you can grow to some of the more complex vintage analog synths.

The Minimoog the poor? Yes and no. Yes because the Prodigy is a relatively inexpensive alternative to the legendary Moog sound, not because it has advantages allchants: emcombrement limit a careful look trs great simplicity of use and finally, y ' is not no doubt it's a Moog, a real one!

Designed in the late seventies, the Prodigy is a synthesis of mono-end fate sduire era musicians less fortunate (the musicians simply what). It includes most of its prdecesseurs CHARACTERISTICS: the legendary Moog filter 24 dB / oct, two oscillators, a wooden frame of beauty and nooorme Moog bass sound.

Ct features, the Prodigy assurment is not a machine research. It can not be distinguished by a multitude of opportunities synthse but have the essential good mono CHARACTERISTICS: two synchronized oscilloscope, an LFO ddi that do not tilt squats like its big ERRF Mini but which however does not benefitted the routing capabilities of the latter.

Of course, all custom settings are controlled thanks faade of knobs and switches DDIS. The Prodigy also has a pitch wheel and modulation.

on the other hand, no CV Gate Prodigy but many available on the second hand market has changed and t are dsormais filled.

The Prodigy t has long been the undisputed market leader of mono synths affordable, until this comes the Pro One in 1981, he also o t replaced by the Rogue.

So if your like many other compltement piquous and you can not take out your Mini from its cocoon to take him into rpt, invest in a Prodigy, you will have a price relatively affordable, sound Moog, the Moog look in a small machine nice and easy to transport.

Great little monophonic synth, super easy to use.

I recommend anyone who wants the Moog sound, but do not have the budget for a mini or travel, and those who want killer bass! (The moog for bass players ...)
Keyboard two and a half octaves (32 keys), using two wheels CONTRL management LFO, standard connector in the late seventies, but no MIDI (I personally do not need it, so for me is not a default).
on the other hand, mine is the second generation, and possde all possible exits in CV / Gate, unlike the Prodigy, who had a first audio output.

UTILIZATION

Configuring on-no-longer simple (2oscillos, an LFO, the wonderful and sublime 24dB Moog filter, one standard and one ADS ADS for fitr): basically it is THE single two oscilloscope!

It takes a few minutes to understand the principle, and it puts DCEN exploit ...
That's what Sidre me the most with this little monster: each session is different, and I still find new sounds and combinations of indict Annes APRS have purchased ...

Personally, I plug in my bass amp three body lights, and the grain is simply monstrous ... but we have neighbors comprhensifs or no neighbors at all!

The prodigy sounds really good regardless of the trs rglages, and excels in the low-to-kills.

It is also super rput in this area, there that see the list of famous users, particularly in the Dub, Big-Beat (they are not beautiful low Fat-boy? ) or electro (Depeche Mode still use it, they play even on Prodigy in two of their last clip).
And The Prodigy, o come them?

Sync mode, which as its name suggests is both in sync oscilloscope, allows leads to beautiful and if you push the emphasis of the filter to the max you have to know the CONTRL bte ...

It is also for those who ® religion a simple and effective for concerts, because despite the lack of memory, change in three of his manipulations!

To reach its potential, I use it with some pedals, including a ring modulator and an Electro Harmonix Memory Man, does it well ..

I use it for 8 years, and it's an endearing little machine.

I think it should rev out all those who want to get your foot in the world of vintage analog synths without "digging" the thing like crazy (as in this case, is not enough .. .)

The standard benefit of the Prodigy, me, RSID in its simplicity of use.
Indeed, After a few hours of use, we realize that everything is hand door, and that most of Moog sounds of references are available in a round knob, which allows to concentrate on his game and quickly lose themselves in improbable research ..
The complex synths that make you sound amazing find and indict but ask you for hours and hours of research have their place in the studio, synths and simple and goes inside to have a place scne .

Hyper basic, but what many forget to say that it is easily "expandable" with such a Moogerfooger pedals "control processor".

SOUNDS

Well, let's be clear: it's a moog pure juice, so it's totally dbile to compare anything. In its register is champion but do not ask him what he can not do. It is actually a little more fat but less powerful than a phatty Pro-One or Odyssey (I have them all) and it's not the same either ... So it will most beautiful bass "moog" and beautiful lead "moog" (and also some FX sounds or squence). The finesse is not his forte. That's it! OVERALL OPINION

It is true that the price of the moog is lev but on the other ct only real moog moog sound like! So:
- Or you really want this type of sound (fat and brass) in which case the purchase is justified.
- Or you just find an analog capable of "everything" to do and in this case it is better to look elsewhere ...
1000 is cheap for the real Moog sound, but it's expensive for an analogue rev simplistic.
Addition of 16/10/09: There is a bank "prodigy" on the famous Minimonsta. It sounds good but tonnament Fidler "smaller" than the original ... we can conclude two things: first the prodigy is a "cut" of the minimoog Whereas since the Minimonsta is to be the best formulation of the mini, and secondly pluginsde modlisation well as more Fidler - are a good notch below their MODELS, there must srement missing harmonics or something or other ....

The Moog Music Prodigy is a vintage analog synth that has about 25 keys and covers around two and a half octaves. It also has pitch and modulation wheels as well as a 1/4 inch connection to send this to an amp. It also has a 1/4 inch outputs for sustain as well as for a number of different things. You can get a ton of different synth sounds from this, including all of the classic sounds you think of when you think of Moog. The Moog Music Prodigy is a monophonic synth.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the Moog Music Prodigy is pretty straightforward in terms of the set up of synthesizers like this, but if you are not familiar with the settings and parameters that is has, it will take a bit of getting used to. However, if you play around with this for a little while you should be able to get a good understanding of what this does. Its capabilites are far and wide and you can get a wide array of different synth and noise sounds. I don't have a manual for this, as it is an old synth, but I never needed one. This being said, if this is your first synth, it is definitely a good idea to have a manual around if you can get one.

SOUNDS

The sounds on the Moog Music Prodigy contains a huge array of different synth sounds, ranging from traditional lead and bass Moog sounds to everything in between. The Prodigy is a powerful synth with a ton of parameters that makes it a truly versatile synth. The feel of the keys makes it easy to play, and the pitch and modulation wheels allow for further control of your timbre. I have used this in a number of different musical genres, but mostly for pop and rock. The Prodigy is suitable for any type of music that you would like to use it with.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Moog Music Prodigy for about five years and it is one of my favorite synths in the Moog Music line of synths for a number of reasons. It is easy to follow and capable of getting almost an endless amount of sounds. It is a step above the Moog Rouge, but isn't as versatile as the Voyager. This makes it a good option for those looking for a real vintage analog synth from Moog, but don't want to spend thousands of (US) dollars. I'm a huge advocate of all Moog synths, and the Prodigy is one of their classics.
