I have a MacBook Core 2 Duo 2GHz for a week only. Before I worked on an iMac G5 1.8 ghz and even before on an iMac G3 400 mhz!
What I like most are the small dtails practice (I never had cell phone but I'm a fan of Apple for a long time).
I use Logic Express version of UB (for procsseurs Intel) and it is at least as fast as a desktop machine. Processing I / O via FireWire to my M Audio FW 410 is no problem.
on the other hand when I tried to use Live 5 (version for Power PC, former gnration) the Rosetta emulator that runs at the same time consumes too many resources and prevents me from work ... try again with other rglages but for now, I strongly recommend installing the latest versions of your software intensive.
Regarding the installation of software, I Reserved a part of the hard drive for windows XP (and yes it is possible) to the case where I would one day play a little game or if I RCup re an application that I'm not on OSX.

What I like least: nothing. Good fingerprints on the hull and also necessarily buy for a 20 E cable to connect a second screen (I will do so without delay).

The price quality ratio is exceptional. E for 1098 (on the apple refurb store) is really a machine srieuse.
compare my computer with dirt Supermarket 600 E or 700, or can be, but if you put the machine rating rating Difference jumps the eye: one is pro and commands respect. the others look like nothing.
APRS can be compared with real brands like Sony, which is fine / good products but also expensive.

- Assets: there are too many, so here are some: exemplary stability, strength, Unix kernel, Intel dual core, can use any other OS (whether with or without native Bootcamp, or in particular the virtual machine with Parallels most excellent), ergonomics extraordinary, extremely easy to use, and a host of small details that are all extras in the machine ...

- Cons: Poor heat dissipation (the laptop is very thin ...), crappy integrated graphics card (but it's not a problem if you use your Macbook for anything other than the game .. d Moreover, buying a Macbook to play, it is a lamentable mistake), yellowing of the parts that remain long in contact with the skin (but this problem seems to have been fixed on new versions, to see)

- I am in the license info, so I saw a lot of scroll machines, including Acer, the Sony Vaio, the IBM Thinkpad, etc.. Be careful, it is completely impossible to compare one machine to another machine Apple: Apple hardware is made for the Apple OS and vice versa. Therefore, everything is optimized, given that software engineers know by heart the stuff on which their system will turn, and vice versa. In comparison, take Windows: it will run on thousands of different machines, and it will adapt to almost any configuration. You can deduct the blow yourself that Apple systems will always be inherently more efficient than the systems back. Small point to note, however: the use of any machine to run a good Linux (Ubuntu, OpenSuse ...) can give excellent results.

- The value for money is good or very good. One might think that the machine is expensive (and yes, it is not accessible to everyone to shell out 1100 euros for the minimum, knowing that it takes close to 100 euros more for switch to 1GB of RAM, which I think is MANDATORY) and yes, it is expensive, but for that price you really all in one. You pay once and you will not pay a penny more in the next few years ... Do the math, it can become profitable if you trèèèès minimal attention to your gear.

- With experience, I will do it again and this choice no matter what. I find it difficult to become re-use Windows, especially in college where many of the machines running under the OS from Redmond. We must invest in the beginning, do not be afraid to pay the sum, and after it is a joy beyond compare.

- From the musical point of view, the integrated software (Garage Band) is downright fun to have some fun. Multitrack sequencer (I have not counted the number of tracks that maximum loads, but I guess it's quite big ... and in any case should not cloud the issue: if you use Garage Band to work is that you do not need more than fifty tracks ...), intruments software, real and noon, clear interface and getting started very fast, it's a great little app. After, of course, you can work on Live5, Logic, Cubase, and more. For DJ, Traktor note the very good, and free Mixxx, not very stable though. Be careful with the compatibility of the external sound cards, which are not always identified by the machine. Please ask before embarking on the purchase of the last Terratec tearing, it may be that your Macbook ... do not recognize just not!


In short, if you choose not to go Mac, you will not regret it ...
