Ampeg B2R

This was my first bass head that i bought, i used it in my band that played small to medium sized venues, and i played through a GK 1x15 and Hartke 4x10, the amps power was good, but sometimes i would be over powered by the two guitarists, it was leight weight and 2 spaces wich was convienent, and it is a great little amp for people with a budget, i also could get some great sounds out of it with its 9 band EQ
it lacked power, and you couldnt get some tones that you wanted, i needed more power and tones, but thats ampegs bottom line product

it was built very solid, there were two things that went wrong, and this was five years after i bought it, so it did hold up, but the DI on the back stopped woking, and two knobs broke off, the knobs were still functional, but hard to get at
fantastic starter amp for around 500, best in class, but better out there, if you can spend a little more, than do it, but a nice little amp either way

the connection is simple: a power cable for the sector and a jack cord that runs to the speaker!
settings from left to right, a button-15dB, gain, bass, ultra mid, treble, master, a push button limit, a push button to turn the equalizer bands 9, 9-band equalizer and the button start-up of the head.
UTILIZATION
Use of this amp is simple you just know what you will, and we get a good sound.
the manual is in English and explains quite clearly how to use it.

SOUNDS
I think this head is very adaptable to all types of music.
I played with my 6-string bass, my 4-string, I have connected the Big Muff, Guyatone distortion, whammy, wah-wah and I even plugged a guitar!
well, question sounds, it's still well-stocked!
Round jazzy sound to a sound specific to slap and fleshy, everything is (almost!)
I like the sounds, the well rounded and the opportunity to work on several levels the highs!
I regret, is the absence of many mediums such as the hot rocket bass combo 100w and warm, powerful lamps!
OVERALL OPINION
It's been two years that I have and what I like most is the generous and accurate as you can get.
least, is little existing mediums.
I tried and had a lot of pre amps, Fender Rumble 150w, 100w ampeg rocket bass, SWR redhead (ouch ouch ouch, what a sound!!) david eden, markbass, and so on .... !
I think the price / quality ratio is up to the reputation of ampeg, it's tough and it sounds!
but I thought it lacked the warmth of the lights, so I head deputy to the SVP-BSP preamp Billy Sheehan and there is more than the same song!
There's really what was missing, the heat of the lamp, the lamp power to shake the legs and a slap in the farting!
with experience, I will not repeat that choice, because my tastes have evolved and my back can not stand to wear at arm's length 14kgs head ampeg, ampeg preamp 5kgs and 28kg carry Hartke speaker cabinet!
the issue, there's better, ampeg rocket bass that sounds much warmer and I prefer.
but anyway, I prefer to go to an amplification much simpler and lighter, I do not want to finish hunchback to 50 years!See less31
