This pedal adds to the sound of a bass synth sound. Several waveforms are available, with some variations: sawtooth, square wave, more full of other amazing sounds.

The pedal has a low pass filter. By default, the filter follows the envelope of the bass sound, but it can also be modulated by an expression pedal (producing a sound like a wah-wah). 2 modes, the filter follows a LFO (for wobble sounds like Dubstep, Drum & bass).

There is a low input, expression pedal input. There is an output jack, plus another outlet for separating its clear bass and synth sound of the pedal if a jack is plugged into the outlet

no internal memory! but there is a blank sample at the end of the manual to record your personal settings.

SOUND QUALITY

I use the boss for funk in general for very groovy bass lines. the synth sounds are very different, they reproduce wonderfully sounds from Earth Wind and fire a daft punk generation are two very different synth sounds!
there is much talk of latency!, I think it is very correct! ... For his work properly (little trick) it will initially use a cabbage cabbage or scratch tape end of the shaft to remove the parasitic harmonics of the instrument (very important !!)

OVERALL OPINION

I use the boss for over 2 years and still the same fun! I admit putting it in the closet to try something else ... (supersynth markbass) and other multi effect pedal with integrated synth (Korg) but without success! sustain of the instrument is preserved.
for me the bass synth to be used as an accompanying instrument to support the beat and the groove and not ghostly sounds and spacy to be rarely exploitable group (aside for the hard-compound and electro)
I love the synth 5 boss because he does everything, whether it is a clean and punchy dirty well (popping sound) or the cosmic sound!

I pair my boss with a markbass octave which for me is the winning combination for the sound !! ... !!!!

UTILIZATION

You must read the manual a bit, but the pedal is pretty simple to use.
There is 1 knob selecting the synth sound, a knob modulating the speed of movement of filter (speed of decay of the envelope or LFO, depending on the mode).
Two knobs adjust each filter frequency and resonance.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound of this pedal is very good, but you should know some tips to maximize:
As such, the sound of the SYB-5 may seem cheap. But just add some effects pedal after distortion, chorus, reverb, for a mega-synth sound.

Otherwise, an expression pedal is needed to give some movement to the sound, and LFOs to modulate.

I use it for 2 years and I am satisfied!
Good value for money, and it is quite irreplaceable.

UTILIZATION

The pedal offers all the controls relevant to this type of effect: the low volume of dry and separate effect, frequency control, Resilience, decay (or miss depending on the mode), and the effects and their variations (single, the octave, self) that I will detail them all.

SOUND QUALITY

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a while now, it's the only pedal synthesizer I've ever had, I'd try the digitech bass synth wah, I prefer the SYB-5 but they are different then it is hard compare them objectively.

I like the vast sonic possibilities of the pedal, all options less useless or anecdotal Boss stuck above story to eyeful for not much (as usual Well actually ...).

The value for money goes, but at that price, even for units at Boss could have the true bypass for once, right? Anyway, surely the choice I would do, so many possibilities in a nice little box without a digital pedal it's still cool. But if I had to take this opportunity would be because the price / quality ratio would become really interesting and the Boss, duh, it's solid and reliable so it ages well.

Synth bass pedals in a BOSS ... is the successor to the SYB-3. It contains the same knobs: frquence, rsonnance, decay, fashion, spars volumes, but also "rate" for the LFO.

The tracking is much better than the SYB-3 bass players will be happy.

if the SYB-3 sounds "oldschool analog", the SYB-5 is plutt "industrial metal" ... the LFO is hyper prcis, trs effective ... the SYB-5 has two sounds "pulse" DIFFERENT, the "pulse 1" sounds like an organ saturated and "Pulse 2" looks like a robot voice.

we regret the wave saw the syb-3, a marvel, that of syb-5 is less rich, less deep.

Synth to sound aggressive, it will surprise the habitus of the SYB-3 and those who expected to find typical analog sounds ... but the SYB-5 has a personality of its powerful and mtalique it is try!
