UTILIZATION

The settings in this table are of extreme simplicity is its greatest asset!
I had to take a look at the manual for one or two functions, the rest is all alone in ten minutes.
Management scenes, effects presets or "Fat Channel" is also amazingly simple.
Same for shipments to, you see everything in a glance. We almost feel of an analog machine, where each function has its associated knob.
I've tested a 01v, the presonus is much higher on this point.

I am frankly disappointed on the other hand on one point: the white between each scene change. A tenth of a second unacceptable!
I am often musician alone without sound engineer. I use a lot my loop pedal to build my instrumentations. I wanted to change the scene during the song depending on the instruments I record while loops running in background ... Well, it's messed with the Presonus, white in music each instrument change! So I am forced to add a second analog table, just two stereo tracks, a "loop out" other "output table / direct micro". It also works, but it's a shame.

The other weak point: MIDI. Yes it is nice to change the scene, changing effects with a MIDI foot pedal, but it's still frankly limited. I had hoped to at least control the mute pedal, especially as the console is easily controllable via Firewire with the bundled software, why not MIDI?

SOUNDS

Regarding the sound, I'm pretty satisfied for the digital age.
Preamps are compelling for a small table in this category.
The reverbs are quite nice, it does not seem to me they are worse than on my Lexicon MX400.
Compressors and equalizers fulfill their role properly, although I quickly realized they were not up to my analog compressors and equalizers. At the same time, considering the price of this table, it would have been the height it sounds better!

OVERALL OPINION

I chose this table to replace my big rack effects 40kg and my analogue desk.
My back is very satisfied, and the shock of my car!

This is a very good Swiss Army knife, nothing grand, but very suitable for small services with a mid-range sound.
Although I was disappointed by this white between scenes and the weakness of MIDI, I do it again this choice without hesitation.
It is also the lightest and most portable, and it matters!

This is a console 8 Mono + 4 Stereo. Sold for 16 tracks but beware only 12 tracks.
4 For: It is light but it is a small console is sold as such is no inconsistency.

The EQ is a bit light for only 3 frequencies consoles and a 31-band EQ for output.
For AUX EQ 31 bands not to manage any Larsens on returns must be
equip.

The compression / limiter & co are easily accessible and parameterize for each band.

I like the MONO output for wedge ... and back, it is convenient.

The sampling ranges from 44.1 to 48KHz, but it sounds really good and natural.

UTILIZATION

The setup is great but you have to enter it (ie read the manual ).
Once this investment in playback time is it becomes very easy to use.

No need to sub menus on a screen that serves almost as the effect settings and reminders stage everything is at hand a maximum click. It is appreciable live when to go fast.

What I like most about this console is the ability to juggle the settings for the console, PC and iPAD. It's great to be able to manage the EQ on the screen seeing the response curve.


More application available on iPhone allows me to give everyone the opportunity to directly set its own auxiliary ... Gone are the days where everyone waits his turn to ask a bit more bass, a little less guitar, more voices. I sync their iPhone with the computer and all drives ....
So the balance is 2 times faster and the sound engineer keeps smiling.

Only drawback you need a computer connected.

I am very happy rendering in this context.
The sound is excellent with a nice dynamic.

OVERALL OPINION

Acquired in August and sold last month to finance 16.4.2.
For my part I think this little console is a success because

Who needed more slices and AUX I went to the model above.
But it is not the same price.

So if the number of channels and outputs you will it is a very good quality / price ratio.
Its ease of use that we have no need to spend a permit navigation in menus
as in other models (01vXX & al.)

This allows you to concentrate on her and not on how I do.

Moreover it allows to record 16 channels simultaneously without latency via Fireware ....


Warning my opinion applies only to the live.
Not having used studio I have no opinion on the matter.

UTILIZATION

Super simple setup, simple is hard, you have to read the manual a bit but not too much, everything is logical and well done track by fat channel is clear, it is a pleasure to use this table both in studio live in, there is even a recipe in the manual (which I recommend anyway), the software is excellent and one studio is really really good
