I purchased the Presonus Studio Live 24.4 to eliminate outboard gear and have all the onboard compression, eq’s etc. Oh yea 24 ch recording! Easy to use and built well. Plan on buying a $450 L and M case to protect this puppy. I have already tweaked and recorded with this thing in less than 4 hours. I just need a crossover and feedback destroyers now! Effects on board sound good too although limited to reverbs and delays.


UTILIZATION

The Presonus Studio Live 24.4 is a great sounding console, clean but not sterile sounding. The processing power is great. Compression, gating and eq on all the channels including the buses. Very easy to learn and get around on. Wish it had a way for routing the reverb to the monitors.

SOUNDS

Mutes on the aux masters would be nice to cut reverbs between songs. Also the current firmware (v1.0 build 166) has at least one bug that I have found. Build 165 had a couple. Tech support is very slow to respond, that disappointed me I like good customer service.

OVERALL OPINION

The size, it is deeper than our old mixer but about half the width. Once it is setup, it is as simple to operate as an analog mixer. It looks intimidating, all the buttons, but it is very straight forward to use. Add bonus: it is quite pretty when it is powered on. I would highly recommend this mixer to any one looking for a high quality mixer. But the price may steer you away, there are a lot of other mixers out that can do what this one can do for a much cheaper price. You will have to test the market to see what all there is out there but you will find something similar if you arent willing to fish out the money for the Presonus Studio Live 24.4.

UTILIZATION

Of simplicity is stunning I opened the manual to know how to have a turn at the headphone output with the "fate" to each.
The highlight of the table is the fat channel, the accessibility of each parameter of IMMEDIATE qual, compression, gate, limiter. Strong point too, being able to CRER 5 stereo, and power to each monitor to the headphone output (to know what the musicians hear on stage or in studio). I love pr2 mode that lets you send in to the pre fader signals but with treatment (compression, equa, limiter). And also the possibility to send each of the two effects in the multi.
Each treatment also benefitted the fat channel ... Standard ...

Use small BMOL in darkness we can see each button but not necessarly clear what they are associated ... especially the fat channel.


SOUNDS

Console is transparent, the Equal Music remains, effective compressor, gate, too. The Pramper respect the signal, not hyper silent if you push the gain a lot (I compare Focusrite red1 ...).
The conversion is correct, very good dynamic. The sound is good even if gnral the lack of heat little ct "analog" (but this is not the point ...).
I would say that the weakness lies in multi effects. At reverbs we feel a sort of rebound "Left Right", with a little mtallique ct (not empty correct, regardless of Settings, even if the effects bnficient also the fat channel).


OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a week and this is sufficient for mastery of all the beast.
It shows at once its capabilities, we feel now its full potential.
The ratio quality price is excellent I think. Everything you need is l. .. to the scene as the studio (home studio).
It gnial can sound in a concert and then mix the house.

UTILIZATION

Simple and effective. A few things have improved, but the updated rules are often problem. Moreover when logging on the internet plugged in, the update is done automatically ... I like this side ... Practice!

SOUNDS

For my part I did not notice breath offensive. I was even surprised, and am still listening again taken the lives (a lot of jazz at the moment).
The settings are effective, gates and compressors are tested, but I am beginning to get used to their way of working and like a lot. They are effective but discreet! The limiter allows for secure sockets, and does not nag too ..
The graphics are effective equalo ...
What about better. You can really do sound for live recording and I really like the dynamics, transparency, quality short ...

OVERALL OPINION

I use the past few months. I was in the hands of pretty models (but she really competing models in its class "live and studio 24 tracks?).

The value for money for the coup appears unbeatable!
The downside: may just be the effects, which can pretend to give the illusion of ... well it sounds not top what.
The Diez: a little everything else in my personal opinion

With the experience I would do this choice, and am almost ready to invest in an automated version, if it appears one day!
