OVERALL OPINION

I tried Boss 900 cd, 600 Boss, Korg D880, Fostex Mr8mkII.
They all sound quality reverbs and saf distos the Fostex.
Here little effect but the buttons (volume, pan, reverb.
Big screen so small but legible handwriting.
This is the best recorders within 600 euros.Un pure happiness.
More puzzles to be found in textbooks functioning, translations done wrong, submenus ...
Everything is clear, clear, simple. A model for all devices in the world.
It's small, lightweight, and excellent.L recording becomes a pleasure.

_J'en'm Crazy! For the songwriter is a fantastic tool, both notebook and to achieve true multi-scale models accomplished.
Certainly it is less than a full PC config (ideal), but so much more ergonomic and intuitive!

A killer! "The thing" in my case!

Two bands EQ for each track: Access via the small screen and scroll wheel. Ability to record two tracks simultaneously. Ability to control the start and stop recording via a footswitch. SDHC card up to 32 GO!


UTILIZATION

USE
Most functions are governed by the menus that appear on the screen and is controlled via a handy dial to handle. Consulting the manual becomes necessary once you get into the specialized functions such as "bounce" but it is very clear (though it lacks an index that would allow a significant time saving). But for basic operation, the unit is intuitive.
Communication with an external computer is required to recover the master. Personally, I prefer to make the master via Audacity Beta Unicode. This avoids a manipulation 'more. Formatting SD cards involves an incredible waste of space because one party is necessarily dedicated to the preservation and communication with the computer. Fortunately, the unit accepts the 32 GB.
Currently, I have not found a way to make Ping-Pong on that unit (which would theoretically fourteen tracks). Perhaps is it not possible?

OPINION GLOBAL
I use it for a month and I am satisfied:
__ Because it relieves me of the latency of what is done by computer;
__ Because it allows real-time adjustments such as pan and volume, which is neither possible nor Audiomixer on Audacity.
__ Because it provides an effect unit for reverb;
__ Because unlike the Boss Fostex IBD and microphone 600, is a true eight-track;
__ Because it allows me to put on each track 8 different effects for each program from my Korg M50 that does not sound sequencer;
__ Because it is smaller and lighter than a laptop, and also more efficient;
__ Because its autonomy from the batteries and excellent stereo microphone can call anywhere and on any instrument: guitar, acoustic piano, vocals, synth, drum machine, sampler.

I hesitated with the Boss BR 600 but there were no longer at that time. I also hesitated with the Boss Micro BR, smaller, cheaper, four tracks, but with many effects reserved for guitarists and singers. The inability to control panning and volume in real time discouraged me to purchase it. And then eight tracks, it's more comfortable!

OVERALL OPINION

I sold my BR600 for dp008
Most of dp 008: simpler less effect and no drum machine, 2 XLR inputs and phantom power that is not on the burner, more physical knobs, larger memory card capacity and more Standard on the burner.

Least: simpler less effect and no drum machine (but this is as above in addition, according to the necessities of each one ...)
equalization as the BR 600 is not terrible, a real equalizer would be welcome
you have to buy food not included PS_P520 (29 €)
Briefly, I'm pretty glad I update my br 600 to 008 dp

UTILIZATION

Ease of use and number of tracks! And that's because I love this Portastudio! With the DP-008 no-brainer and dozens of sub-menus strewn with unnecessary options: There is an equalizer (track by track, low and high freq., Rms) and a knob reverb per track. The ability to modify the track pan when mastering through a second volume pot is one option that I find very interesting.

FIVE FLAT MAJOR:
1) From an ergonomic point of view it must still report that the manipulation for the "Return To Zero" or "Return Last Recording Position" is not practical at all and the thing is quite annoying .... The only real flaw ...

2) The export of the master before moving on computer is quite long and the memory management of the card is still quite original. But .. Well ... nothing serious ...

3) No touch mute ... And it also bothers me a lot ... I do not consider a major flaw but part of the Tascam, the thing seems to me still not being up to the mark.

4) Volume of output for headphones relatively low

5) It eats batteries like a monkey would do with peanuts! Not bother to put no adapter (sold separately but ESSENTIAL ...) The Inge de Tascam they would still have been thought to better study the ratio (batteries / energy gluttony) of the machine in question ... That said it is not the only aircraft in this category of products to use the batteries in a hurry.

It is mainly for reasons "ergonomic" (mute and RTZ) I give 8 / 10 because the ergonomics, just after the recording quality, is still something very important.

SOUNDS

To my ears the DP-008 meets the dynamic signals and recording quality is more than sufficient to produce quality models.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had it 8 months and I find it very endearing! A true creation tool that allows you to concentrate on music and not on the manual. Moreover, it is small enough to carry it with ease. In short: an excellent "collaborator" to save with ease and quality of your musical ideas. Simplicity and quality
