Great for DJ'ing and Listening

Pioneer HDJ-500Published on 02/26/13 at 06:47
The Pioneer DJ HDJ 500 K headphones are a pair of closed back DJ headphones that have a 40 mm magnet driver and removable cable. These headphones are very affordable and that is probably the only reason I chose to give them a shot. Costing only 100 dollars, I was looking for a pair of headphones that would be great for DJ use and general listening use that I could take on the road with me and not have to worry about damaging my main pair of headphones. The HDJ 500 K is very comfortable around my head even after wearing them for long periods of time. The ear cups are very soft and do not irritate my ears.

The sound of HDJ 500 K are very good for this price. The highs and mids are clean and crisp and the low end has a nice thump to it making it easy to DJ with because I can match up tempos and beats easily. The only thing about these headphones that I feel could cause an issue is the build of them not being as durable as I like my headphones to be but at this price I didn’t expect to get something that would be able to withstand the tough life on the road. I have been using these headphones for a while now and I am even thinking of getting a second pair just to leave at home.
I have used many other Pioneer headphones and some of them are really good and some not so good. These are very good for the price I just don’t think they are that durable and heavy duty. I do recommend getting these though and they could be a great pair of headphones if you are looking for your first pair of DJ headphones. The HDJ headphones from Pioneer are very good, they make a few ones that have the same “Rare Earth” Magnet Driver in them.

Up and Down

Pioneer HDJ-500Published on 10/07/12 at 21:38
The Pioneer HDJ-500 are a set of DJ headphones that cost 99 dollars. The padding on these headphones are covered in leather and they are very comfortable. These are the most comfortable headphones that I have ever used under the 150 dollar mark. The style of them is ok, nothing to special. The sound quality is very good, highs are clean, mids are present, and the lows are thick and full without being too over powering. All of the sounds of the beats are easy to hear in the HDJ 500. When I first used the HDJ 500 headphones by Pioneer I was not happy with them, I felt like Pioneer should have made them better because I had another pair of Pioneer headphones that I was using at the time and...…

When I first used the HDJ 500 headphones by Pioneer I was not happy with them, I felt like Pioneer should have made them better because I had another pair of Pioneer headphones that I was using at the time and they where a lot better but they also cost a lot more. But after a while of using the HDJ 500 I came to the fact that you are only going to get a certain level of quality using headphones that cost this price. I was just expecting a lot more.

The HDJ 500’s best aspect is that they are very comfortable , you will just want to leave them on your head and not take them off the whole night. They are very flexible and the right phone can bend or tilt 60 degrees so it can be out of the way and you can listen in just on one side.

If you are thinking of getting the Pioneer HDJ 500 for DJ use, I would look at some of the better Pioneer headphones that cost in the 175 dollar range. Yes, it is a little bit more but you will have a better sound and a headphone that will last you a longer time. Also, don’t stretch your budget to get these, there are other headphones from Shure and Red Waves that sound better than these and cost about the same or a little cheaper.
