The project was initiated by two australians who launched on KickStarter a crowd funding campaign for the umidi custom USB MIDI controller.
With midi, you can design your own MIDI control surface by choosing between 36 components to spread on a 6×6 grid: encoders, buttons, faders, knobs and even jog wheels.
umidi supports full customization so that you can also choose the color of the controls, backlit rings, aluminum faceplate and chassis and you can even add custom graphics on the faceplate.
The price of the first run of umidi on KickStarter is currently available for AU $920 / US $895 / EU 660€ approximately and the units should start shipping in April 2014. Customization is made through www.umidi.co.
