Seagull S6 Cedar

I puchased this guitar from a local music shop after traveling far and wide for a good entry-level guitar. I paid $300 for the guitar & some entry stuff like a strap and a set of new strings.

Beautiful deep tones and a quiet, understated appearance. I love the no-gloss finish on the guitar- It gives it a subtle-yet-powerful type of feel. The action is easy and comfortable- a perfect guitar for unplugged worship or fireside picking. I played some 20 guitars at 6 different shops from $150-$600 and this one blew me away, even without the low price tag.

I also played the spruce version of this guitar, but I like the deep tone of the cedar better.

For that price?

Nothing.

Because there isn't any glossy protective laquer/finish on the top of this guitar, it picks up nicks and scratches easily. If you really care that much about the actual outer appearance of the guitar, that could be a downside- but it hasn't affected the sound at all. It has gone everywhere I have in the last 7 months and taken its share of abuse... no change at all in the sound or any other construction element of the guitar itself.

Beauty! This guitar has to be one of the best out there for entry players, and I would challenge even a $1000 martin player to stand his guitar up to this one in terms of sound and durability. It's not flashy, but it really gets the job done.

I own a takamine 341 springsteen type acoustic which i like, and my daughter showed interest in learning to play guitar.I went to a local music store in ft walton beach fla to buy some new martin strings, and i decided to play around some with a few guitars on the wall.Well i picked up a seagull S6+CEDAR and strummed a D cord then a G cord and immediately called over the guitar sales guy and told him i want this guitar!.I will honestly tell you that i could not believe the richness of the sound that came from that guitar. The neck felt different to me at first compared to my takanine, but in 5 mins that feeling was gone, and i knew right then my daughter was getting this guitar for...…

Excellent guitar for the money!

I like the price, the feel, the action, and oh yes, that beautiful cedar smell that really gives the living room that woodsy smell.

No dislikes as of now! Can,t wait till christmas.

Excellent quality, tight fitting joints, very thin laquer finnish, this guitar is very light compared to my takimine EF-341, but it feels very strong, and durable.

I wish my first acoustic guitar which i purchased overseas in okinawa japan, while stationed there in the airforce, had the same sound and overall playability as this seagull model has.The guitar i purchased over there is a yamaha 210 acoustic, which i still own and play even after 26 years of military travel.and moves, but having said that, its sound is tinny, and the only way to get away from the tinny sound is to play it lightly using fingers and thumb only! No picks with the yamaha,it really causes it to sound quite tinny. The seagull sounds great with or with out a pick, loud or soft.

This was brought for £255 (english sterling) from a discount mail order company called Area 51. (the rrp is £329!)

I bought it as a second guitar to have in a different tuning, my standard guitar being a Taylor 710. I wont exagerate and say the seagull sounds as good, but it still holds its own and the sound is susprising. It certainly sounds better than my old Taylor 214! The finish is amazing and it makes a brilliant sound for almost every style. The best feature is the wide fret board (after you get used to it!) and the individual sounding of each string on every strum.

Nothing! Obviously its not the best ever guitar but certainly one of the best for under £1000, and is 100% worth...…

The quality is, overall, solid and sturdy. The finish is easily scratched but its worth it for the sound it gives. Ive found that all seagull gutars are pretty much universal in build quality, and there generally good for the price.

This is completly out of the league of pretty much every guitar I've played that costs £300 or less. The value for money is truly amazing, and it could easily be sold for three times the price and still be reasonable value.

I'm from Austin, Tx and bought my Seagull from Guitar Resurrection for $349. Pricey for the model, I know, but this place is pricey. I looked at others, but being a banger, I wanted something with full tonal sound.

This guitar has such a full sound. I use bigger strings (Robert Pearce 12's) and the S(6) pushes out delicious lows, meaty mids and silky highs. They've apparently taken great pains towards quality. Well, hell, they're handmade. I learned out to 'really' play on this thing, and I've owned it for 8 years. I will not outgrow it. The longer I play it, the better it sounds. And hears a hint: warm it up before you play it. The sun works best.

The soundboard has a matte finish, which makes it gorgeous, but it's a bit soft. I have plenty of 'character dings' in it and I'm working towards a 'Willy hole' (see Willy Nelson's nylon string). I've been able to stave it off with some clear flaminco soundboard protectors.

The construction is terrific, though I did have to have the bridge reattached once. I've never had to have the intonation adjusted, though I tried once. The luthier I brought it to told me that it was off by less than 5%. There you go.

Buy this guitar. No matter what kind of acoustic guitar music you play, you'll be pleased. Lead, rock, country, blues, I do it all. Never let me down. I've had plenty of players tell me that the S(6) rivaled even mid-range Martins.
