I use it for less than a week

-On Photo, the color "amber" not like me too much but the outgoing cartons, pleasantly surprised. The maple veins are prominent and make each drumkit and the color is less ple as trade pictures Gretsch.

It took me Evans G2 coated and kill, sounds serious, but his deep even when it is dry and not sustain MODR but it is not because Dranga trs musical ( Saddle 6-ply requires ...) The floor toms are pretty hard to give beginners (especially the 14 ') probably because they are too deep and should be a little gaffer. Trs of beautiful finishes and a great look, not always visible in catalogs or on websites, and see in real life!
its level, nothing wrong, I have not yet changed the skins but the agreements, the toms are really powerful and the possibilities are numerous tuning.
The bass drum sound really deep and at the same time slamming trs, also the possibility of tuning are quite varied.
Cons: the skins provided are changing pretty quickly I think, within a month or two for me. The tuning of the floor tom is not simpler.

Have you tried many other models before acqurir?
I tried a Yamaha Stage Custom and a Tama Superstar Hyperdrive and Mapex M Birch, the Gretsch has nothing to do for me! This is the only one for which I had nothing wrong ...!

I have a jazz trio, a rock band, a collective of experimental and improvised music, and I accompany the song acoustic / folk.

I mounted the catalina Evans G2 skins and Evans Emad bass drum in no event for the resonant and without blanket or pillow inside. (I removed the bindings toms on the bass drum for a personal choice of placement tom 12 "snare up, creating a vent" natural ")

I said that I did not take the snare or the tom 10 "in order to change the skins to make the purchase and covers keeping the same budget.
The drums fit beautifully in all configs. The bass has a very good attack and very low in config Rock (so relaxed) is very impressive and has a nice note and a superb round in config Jazz (with skins stretched over ...). Jazz in config it blends beautifully with the sounds of toms.

Drums agree easily by taking the time to do this properly, the tom 16 "needs to be high enough on its feet for the bass bloom (watch beautiful bass rockers advisories)
The tom 12 "needs to be free to ring (the attachments fall toms come with perfectly) (if you use up snare remember not to tighten the circle with the foot snare ...)

In rock so we found the attack and the depth (I'm not a big hitter so I woodcutter does not do me the choice of skins) and Jazz found a great round and some great notes on all drums, singing a delight ...

I play the drums for the past 15 years, 4 years and semi-professional.
This kit is beyond my expectations, I am amazed that the distributors have not raised the price ...

I use this drumkit for about a year .. Catalina mapple in a config 20,10,12,14,16.

As stated by most of those who issue an opinion on this drumkit, I think it benefits a value unbeatable.

But happiness ... Obviously, I do not compare with my "Recording Custom" from Yamaha ... not the same wood, not the same budget.

I have however added a few mods to get the sound I like:
First, an urgent: change skins, all skins. You decide what's best for you, depending on your style. Also, I read here and there that many of you have some problems to get to be satisfied with the sound of their floor toms, 14 or 16 inch .... I had the same concern, too little sustain, sound a little "box".
Ehbin guess what? There's something foolproof, it will cost twenty euros ... you transfer the tiny black plastic caps on the feet of your toms, and you replace them with ones you can buy in Pearl, largest and "written off". Believe me, your toms will not be the same and you will be delighted with the results. This is truly the day and night!

In short, you have a tight budget, but you are looking for a drumkit of maple that is well done, nice looking and sounding? then treat yourself to the Catalina Mapple!

I have been using the Gretsch Catalina Maple series for about 4 months and I am blown away. The finish on the drums is astounding, and the Maple hoops on the bass drum add another coat to it. The triple flange hoops and hideaway bass drum lugs make this seem like a fortress. I have used Pearl Exports, OCDP Newports and DW drum kits, and the configuration and tone of this kit was my favorite.

The snare is an added treat, as it is very deep, giving it good resonance and attack. I changed to a Remo Black Suede head and a Puresound 30 strand snare wire, and I will never need or want a new snare. You can a tight, focused attack out of it, or I use it for the dark, deep resonance used in more melodic songs.

The 10” tom was a little hard to get used to at first, but when transitioned off of it onto the 12” tom, the duo sound amazing. I use Evans EC2 coated heads on both of the toms, and they sound great. The 10” can be down tuned to get a deeper sound than what it starts off with. The 12” I keep tuned in a mid range and it sounds great for the style of music I play. The drum mounting system also takes some getting used to, as it is a ball hinge sort of deal. The dual floor toms make the set look like a beast. They add a dark clarity to the set if that’s what you use them for. The legs have yet to come loose on me, which on my earlier sets I had that problem. The 16” is very deep and melodic, while the 14” is more punchy.

My absolute favorite part of the drum set is the Kick drum. The kick has an amazing tone and has a lot of deep growl, even with the stock heads. I use an Aquarian Superkick 2 on mine and it makes this the absolute must have drum. It sounds far better than almost all other bass drums I have heard. This kick is a cannon, and sounds amazing whether playing Blaze or Break beats.

Over all, I would say that this kit is the best deal I’ve stumbled across in a long time. I would definitely buy this kit again if I had the option.
