[Musikmesse] MTD Kingston Z "X"
Michael Tobias Design presents the Kingston Z "X" bass, a limited edition of the brand's classic "Z" bass series.
“I wanted to narrow the gap between my American Handmade basses and “Z” bass and the most logical and profound way was to upgrade the electronics package”, states Michael Tobias. “The X version incorporates Bartolini pick-ups and a 9 volt pre-amp that are voiced similarly to the 18 volt system I use in the handmade instruments. The 3 band active pre-amp features a switchable midrange that is activated via a push-pull pot on the Midrange EQ control and an active/passive selector that is activated via a push-pull pot on the Master Volume control. This system really brings out the tone of the wood and offers the player a full pallete of sonic colors.”
The initial run of “X” basses will ship with a Burled Maple top finished in hi-gloss Translucent Black, smoked chrome hardware, chrome logo and a a smoked chrome truss rod cover. The first 30 instruments will be individually signed and numbered by Michael Tobias himself.
