Needless to resubmit, so I will speak only of its advantages and disadvantages ...

UTILIZATION

starting with its quality / price secondhand report because it is not uncommon to find a GX700 less than 100 € now and sometimes with a MIDI pedal for 30-40 € more ... making it an excellent deal for those seeking a complete multi-effects and quality, also capable of beautiful cleans.

The effects are of good quality and comparable to Boss pedals: compressor, noise gate, reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, etc. ... anything goes and it sounds!

Against by the programming is a bit laborious, it is quite far from plug and play, but it is common to 95% of multi effects ... he will spend time there!

SOUND QUALITY

So let's be clear: the preamp is clearly exceeded in respect of saturated sounds, it turns quickly to nasal, with the exception of using the simulator baffles, in this case a very stereo but much less garish result we get.

The cleans against by sounds are clear and crystalline property, fenderien clean arpeggios on a Roland or adding a little chorus and delay is divine!

To overcome the saturation weaklings, so I used this multi effect with a preamp tube in the loop (Rocktron Piranha), the preamp therefore generates me the crunch and saturated, the cleans are operated directly from the GX700, all balanced DNAS a Peavey Triple XXX head and his big 4x12.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for more than 15 years, but I'm now going to very heavy in terms of multi effects preamp (Fractal), he has made are working honestly and has followed me all this time in the studio and in concert without failing, which is significant for such a small price.

At the time of this purchase, it was in GT3 was its counterpart pedal format and you could find some stuff at Digitech and Zoom in the same category (above it was the Rocktron costing double), so value / excellent price, I've been thinking a long time ... a choice I would do it again without worries.

UTILIZATION

The config is pretty simple when you have already used to tweak multi-effects. The manual I have ever had. It publishes its easily after there are many parameters, it takes a lot of tests to find their sound.

SOUND QUALITY

Effects are typed 80's. I liked the compressor, noise gate / limiter, the reverbs and delays. The flanger is a little "rocket", the same for chorus, fairly average. The amp sims are good for the clean and crunch. One can easily find a good clear sound, but the guitar is fairly respected. Out of the crunch distos synthetic sound very cold and drafts are I think. Can not play with metal. Note that this is not really multi for beginners: every param (number) goes from 0 to 100, or to many of them over 60 is very risky

OVERALL OPINION

I used around a year répets. I had other models, I just want something fairly advanced. I sold it because of distos that were unbearable despite weeks of careful adjustments.

I used with a MIDI pedal Boss FC-50 and an expression pedal. This is essential.

The price of occas' is certainly a good deal.

UTILIZATION

The general configuration seems rather complicated at first in shipping, but finally knows

I never had the manual in hand, so I know not if it is clear or not.
Editing sounds, once the interface grip, comes in handy. If I had to do a comparison, let's say it is the Nokia 3810 in time for those to whom it speaks!

SOUND QUALITY

The effects are generally sufficiently credible to be all used.
I personally do not like chorus and flanger effects and other jazz-rock for years 70-80 (beurk. .. No jazz rock, huh: scratch their sound!), So I am not commenting on them there, and modulators find some "cheap".
Having used some time to harmonize on a piece of Queen, I can say it is fulfilling its role, particularly by the fact that it is adjustable note by note.
In terms of distos, the few types of bases are offered eclectic, allowing to go to the crunchy distortion well stinging through the vintage just yuck it right with pace and a good grain .

I use the GX-700 The Beast with a lag, the two allows me a wide range of style all very believable, whether from rock to Jet, Queen and ACDC, reggae, variety or the electro, digging a little in the proposed modulations!
I went directly to table it until there is 1 year, and the sound was very clean, precise and versatile. I still come to pass in an amp (transistor fault means ^ ^), which gives it a warmth and a body that ultimately sorely miss him nonetheless when alone (that is that a preamp ', after all). And I had two occasions to pull through a good tube amp (the one I do not know that it marks, and the other an Orange), and I was really won ... Heat in a clean tones recall who know a good strat, and a depth in distos that provide some fun!

OVERALL OPINION

It's been 8 years that I use on stage, controlled by a MIDI footswitch and expression pedal (parameterizable as desired for volume, whawha, harmonize ...), and have absolutely no desire for anything else (well if a tube amp to put him in c ..!).
on the other hand for the studio, his scans are not sufficiently credible for efficient rendering. The distos not enough bodies, clean sounds seem a bit flat, hollow.

I started with that scene, and have never felt the need of something else. And enhanced it in their own way (I prefer the example whawha Vox, therefore no longer uses the GX, but have practiced for nearly six years before switching!), I believe the GX can find its place amongst all config wanting to be a minimum in its wide range of sound.
It is not up certe modeling of some recent models (yeah the old grandpa is), but its price, reliability (no single failure in over 8 years!), Rack configuration (unlike to pedal effects GT-6 or Vox that if something goes wrong condemn you the pedal completely, while all you have to buy a controller for the GX, so keep your settings, etc ...) and versatility make it an ally for the stage.
After frankly, I do mainly music-hall, with covers of all styles ... So that the palette of sounds addressed does not require an authenticity foolproof, however for a group of "style", either outright or purely reggae metal, I think the models are not enough mouth for "having the sound". Sounds clear enough slap, the distos not deep enough ... But here I am talking about something I do not know, these are just assumptions! If anything it would be just as satisfying!

In any case, if the choice had to be rebuilt, it would be uncritically that I will opt for the GX-700, whose versatility (again ^ ^) is equaled its value!

We regret the mini jack for headphones and no XLR input, however there is a good range of its bringing together almost all the Boss pedals. Excellent on a console preamps with its HP and its simulation with any combination of speaker size and taken from his microphone.

UTILIZATION

The use is really perfect for a novice and I appreciate the opportunity to rename each bank of the song I play (useful on stage). MIDI board to change its indspensable!

SOUND QUALITY

There is no point to connect the GX-700 on a head lamp, it would be a waste (for amps), however, it is exploitable on all great amps or transistors on a console with its simulated preamp + HP and different taken microphones. Overall, there are good digital sound but what a pleasure to live on a plugger Mesaboogie (simulation available on the GX-700)

OVERALL OPINION

I have the GX-700 for 8 years and I'm pretty happy overall. I use it in stereo on my Marshall 8240 combo using only the power amps to it and I have nothing to envy the owners of big stuff. Preque t tell me everything I like many simulators hp with my mesa boogie preamp.
distortion are the kinds we like boss or not they serve me that has added a little to gain preamp from time to time.
The preamp of the simulated c we forget not the top.
For the rest nothing to effects fault that is not the top but not bad type and I love it bein my little orange boiboite

UTILIZATION

Facille enough to use as all multi effect rack must know them and after we did what we want
It should be used, in my opinion, that has a enbellir its base (the Quad preamp for me).
The wall forms that I have made are slightly twisted back n I have the branch out of hand and not pramp line output. need to be careful not to push the preamp output is c. But my sound and much better with the simulations hp

The effects as I have said I have satisfied simultaneously for hp I put 10 or 20 live and + - 90 in mic level.
for the rest of the noise gate and the whole is quite homogne I know by heart now but it still happens to me suprendre. We can do stuff with the egg free chaining.
By simultaneously against the preamp's not terrible ben c I 'm not used.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a long time now lol. If I have to keep that is that it suits me well. I 've try others but I find no better that what we say ...... It is different but not better ok that is just a matter of taste ...

UTILIZATION

Complicated!
Tons of SET with lots of parameters that effect by a sEvent not much. They are trs (trop!) prcis: most settings are made on a scale of 100 with a step untaire. Sub menus has no end that prevents it from settling effects simultaneously.
Make an effect is a mission, there are always problems of equalization (knowing that many effects of demand response rates in several frequency bands which represents an additional equalization for each effect) so this gallery. The manual is complete and trs trs explains well the principle (which is not be complicated but it is not he who will tell us how to edit effects.
In fact the use of the device is quite simple but effective editing is a nightmare.

SOUND QUALITY

Ben numerical What! So many ups and downs ... especially since the beast is out there about ten years so the not so good with Digital Sample Rate good bass and a certain coldness to certain effects. The compressor and chorus are good but without all the modulation effects (phaser, flanger, wah wah, tremolo ...) create a blast that we enttend without playing, but it goes further. The phaser, flanger, harmonizer make noise bursts, the predominant effect even with settings too LIGHT. The reverb breath, the delays are so unnatural, it has more noise than an exact reproduction of sound in the echo. I do not use the speaker simulator that color the sound too (in the bad sense). However, the effects are good preamp and gives a little life and expressiveness the processor (on an amp transistors, at the same time this will be a shame to use an amp on lamps GX700). For cons, I find the distos surprisingly good (when they are equalization).
Simpa is to possess the totality of existing effects and fun with lots of effects but it is not eccentric IDAL if you really want sound quality. But having said all the effects are still usable.

OVERALL OPINION

I have been there over a year and a half. I have had time to assimilate and yet I still can not edit a corect effects so I am content to preset already programmed. It allowed me to make my debut and I must say that the amount of effects available simultaneously and is unlimited. It's good value but not the large multi purpose. A great machine for the time in digital but it has many old.
I'll buy a boss ME-50 which only effects and not amp simulation, strings, picks and gods knows what else and who has only pottards (no menus). That in addition to having taken a step in terms of digital effects remains an analog part (of APRS I'm told) but is in any case much better quality.

I do not use more but I used it for 3 years. I lost the transformer. Unable to deliver hands on it. If anyone has one ...

1U multi-effects including: compressor, wah, distortion, preamp, effects loop, EQ, amp simulator, noise suppressor, modulation (phaser, flanger + delusions like ring modulator, humanizer), delay, chorus, tremolo / pan , reverb. The effects can be put in any order (very daring for its time!) But always in series.

It is set in all directions, edited on PC. Digital converters with 44.1 kHz (16 times oversampling) in 18-bit, impressive numbers at its output 15 years ago, a little weak people today.

Connectors: two inputs (one at a time, the input AR is rapidly broken down on many devices), stereo outputs, effects loop, the three classic twelve o'clock (in, out and through), and expression pedal jack to two controls (fs5u style).

OVERALL OPINION

I bought the GX to its release and I found it wonderful for years, including a cut above the POD (or at least the first). But one day, by upgrading my set I replaced with a GFORCE and there I became much more critical of him! But hey it's not the same budget.

I used the GX 700 for 12 years without failure. Over time, competition has certainly caught up, but it's still in my opinion a good multi-effects, not ridiculous at all. To play in bars and acoustic say "approximate" is more than enough.

I typed the Satus BOSS, a little less reverb and delay (since I tasted those of TC, obviously) but it's still perfectly fine.

The value for money in is an excellent opportunity, so I do not claim mine, although I do not use practically because for me it is significantly under-side. Finally, if you're broke, go for it on this box! (For cons, will provide a roadie or a MIDI pedal to the scene.)

Very easy to edit, friendlier than some newer products.

The chaining effect in my opinion is incidental.

SOUND QUALITY

Used in a rather metal age at the time and plugged into the clean channel of a Marshall tube head or tampered with while on a Peavy Bandit 112, the popping sound of the GX700 was preferred to that of a Dual Rectifier for recording a demo!

It seduces and still will seduce lovers of synthetic sounds, clear and precise (I cab refer you to my old band's SWATT myspace for a sound demo).

The EQ is a bit limited but sufficient, some effects are a little gadget (the ring modulator and the "ya-ya/yo-yo") and the Wha Wha is very good when it is disabled.

The usage of an HP Simulator via a direct connection to a sound card does not convince me (not to say that it's a disaster either).
Remember that the GX700 has not been designed for home studio use.

OVERALL OPINION

After more than 10 years of use in live and rehearsal studios, my GX700 has retired.
I replaced it because of its very low use in home studio.

Swiss army knife, the GX700 has nothing to envy (except speaker simulation) from some newer products, especially as we find that today for little dough.

1 Front Input Volume Control, 1 in back, 2 outputs with adjustable volume on the back, 1 pedal xp, pedal 1/2, 1 send/return. All this in jack. 3 midi: in-out-through. And a headphone mini-jack on the front.

To insert into a chain, a stereo input would have been helpful.

For the time, very complete, but compared to what is done today, too easy!

I've had it since its release, and I bought 2 second hand in recent years. I've had 3, I think that sums up my opinion! It knows how to do everything, including 3-voice harmonizer, although I confess that the grain of the voice created is not realistic, but it can have its charm. Today it is outdated, but at the second hand price, it can be a great multi-effect to try your hand and ear!.
