    Cheap epiano

    Roland F-110Published on 05/29/21 at 10:51
I own this for few years. Pros: compact, solid stand, good sound - typical for the roland brand; relatively large voice bank, as for the epiano, simple sequencer. Cons: relatively light/soft keyboard, note stand bar breaks easily - very annoying, as it is not trivial to disassembly the unit to get rid of the screws that block the keys :(. Low-quality key polish, wipes off easily.

So you want to rock out on a piano, but you have no space for a 9 1/2 feet long Steinway grand piano and it is 3am so the volume would not pan out anyway, the Roland F-110 has got your back.

It is a digital piano with recording capabilities, multi voice, pedals, weighted keys and it's compact with its own speakers.

I helped a friend find a piano that would work for him. He wanted a no frills, good sounding piano sound. Weighted keys were a must. These aren't cheap, the piano, stand and bench was $1200. I have played and recorded with it, a great unit!

The keys feel great. It sounds like a real piano. It is very compact. When set up, I believe is sits less than 10 or 12 inches out from the wall.

When you crank the volume up past 5, which is the halfway point, the speakers begin to distort depending on the patch and how hard you play. That is well, idiotic on a $1200 keyboard. I could accept it on a $120, but not a professional piano.

Well built. The case feels like sturdy wood. This thing has some weight to it. I do not think this would make a portable unit, but a great stay at home substitute for an upright.

Sit down and close your eyes, you will swear it is a real piano. The keys feel like a real piano and the sound is great.

    SOUNDS

The sounds they agree your style of music? Trs good sound and sound reproduction. Ngatif single point, the speakers are not intgres top, and a system that prfrera connect external sound to enjoy a good quality background.
The expression is good? (Raction VLOC the aftertouch)? Touch is perfect, small BMOL on Fortissimo that are a little weak

    OVERALL OPINION

How long have you use it? 3 months
What is the particular feature you like best and least? The design is really beautiful trs (I have the white version). Just some difficulty mounting the furniture, the Shma installation is not clear trs (nothing to do with the Shma ikea)
How do you report qualitprix? Excellent report when you see the price of a piano classic furniture

For the piano sound and look

    How many octaves?
    88 keys

    How many sounds, effects available?
306 sounds (but what's the point on a piano), reverb, 3 band equalizer

What connection (Audio, MIDI pedals ...)
Complete connectivity: input / output audio jack 6.5 mm (which is rare on a digital piano), MIDI In / Out, 3 pedals, 2 assignable as example to start or stop the sequencer, or to modulate the second volume of his in layer (fun for tablecloths)

    UTILIZATION

The touch keyboard is it nice? Should your use?
For comparison with the Yamaha Arius YDP 161, CLP320, Kawai CN22 on, I think the F110 is the lightest keyboard. But it is very correct when, like me, you just typed a master keyboard synth like the old …

For comparison with the Yamaha Arius YDP 161, CLP320, Kawai CN22 on, I think the F110 is the lightest keyboard. But it is very correct when, like me, you just typed a master keyboard synth like the old A33.
To stay at Roland FP4 is better than that but less FP7.

    The general configuration is simple?
There are 65 classic tracks in memory. Each song is recorded on 3 tracks: support, left hand, right hand. It is possible to disable the track that you want to play by example instead. I find this feature very useful for learning. Especially since most pieces are found in the book of sheet music (60 total)
In general I find the ergonomics well thought despite the small LED display and few buttons.
The layer and split functions are easily accessible during a song.
The manual is clear and sufficient?
    Perfect!

    SOUNDS

The sounds they are suitable to your style of music?
I find the piano sound really good by default. It's better than a Yamaha or Kawai in this price range.
on the other hand must really listen avoid amplification of the piano. On my Mackie MR8 or with a good headset is perfect.

I also love the electric piano and pop "Rich Strings.
Other sounds may help, but nothing more.

    OVERALL OPINION

For how long have you been using it?
    1 month

What thing do you like most/least about it?
Most: the sound of the piano for this price, the look (I blank)
    Minimum: a little light touch

Did you try many other models before getting this one?
Yes: CN22 Kawai, Yamaha YDP 161 / CLP320, Roland FP4/FP7/RP201 (the same as the F110, only the cabinet changes)

What is your opinion about the value for the price?
    Correct

Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice?
    Yes, certainly
